Beta Testing Callout

Dear Wyze Enthusiast,

We know you love Wyze products, and now we’re offering you an exclusive opportunity to take your experience to the next level! We are looking for passionate Wyze users to join our iOS Beta Program and be among the first to test and provide feedback on new app features before they are officially released.

Why Join the Wyze iOS Beta Program?

  • Early Access: Get hands-on experience with upcoming app features before they launch to the public.
  • Influence Development: Your feedback will directly shape the future of Wyze apps and products.
  • Be Part of the Wyze Community: Join a group of like-minded users who are excited to improve and refine Wyze experiences.

How It Works:

  • We are recruiting 4,000 iOS users to participate in this round of beta testing.
  • Once enrolled, you will have access to beta versions of the Wyze app and can provide valuable feedback on performance, usability, and features.
  • You will need TestFlight to test the Wyze Beta App. Make sure to download it from the App Store if you haven’t already. Once installed, join the Beta Program within the Wyze app, by going to Account > About > Beta Program.
  • Participation is important! If you do not engage in testing for three consecutive months, you will be removed from the test group to make room for active participants. To participate, simply use the beta app and submit logs whenever you experience issues. It’s as simple as that!

If you’re interested in being a Wyze Beta Tester to help us continue to make too-good-to-be-true products, sign up now! For more details, please check out the Software Testing section of this page.

Thank you for being a valued part of the Wyze community. We can’t wait to hear your thoughts and work together to make Wyze even better!

Best,

The Wyze Team

Is this different from regular Beta that both iOS and Android get? If so, I’m curious why this is only being offered to iOS. If it’s the same, does this mean there aren’t a lot of iOS beta testers?

It seems like the iOS builds have been performing better lately. I know in the past some heavy users (people with lots of devices) expressed there was some lag and freezing issues.

That’s my read. I’m interested in the answer, too, even though I don’t use iOS. Hopefully this will lead to more parity between the platforms for users. It’s frustrating to read when an issue affects iOS users but not Android users and vice versa.

This is the same beta we are doing now. On iOS we have limited spots to do beta testing so every so often we purge the inactive users and do a callout for new testers. On Android we do not have this limitation which is why we never have to do a callout for Android.

Good deal. I appreciate the insight! :+1:

So what are you going to be testing? Just app updates? Firmware? I participated in the iOS beta some time ago but found it frustrating because it just kept breaking things. Also, I have very limited hardware available…mostly V3 cameras, some V2s and Pans, some color bulbs but nothing else.

Android Beta Tester Here and subscriber to Unlimited Cam Pro, which feels like it’s in Beta.

I posted a question here…Unlimited Cam Pro - "Curated" Descriptive Alerts? and got no answer. Could someone tell us how to use them?

Trying to restart my beta but need a new code:

This is mainly to test the iOS app updates. We have limited slots for iOS testing so every so often we purge the inactive testers and do a callout for users who would like to test.

Let me ask someone what to do here, I am not an iOS guy, have not touched iOS in over 10 years. I will try to get an answer though.

I just joined the beta on my iPhone and it was easy if anyone is wondering. I’ve been having a buggy experience with Wyze iOS for a while and hope I can help contribute to the troubleshooting.

I’m not an iOS user but commenting here to bump this topic’s visibility because of some recent issues that appear to be specific to iPad:

Then this was reported in multiple topics:

I don’t intentionally track topics tagged iphone-ipad, but sometimes I see them because of other tags, so I imagine I’m missing other issues particular to those devices, specifically iPad. My understanding is that there are some differences between iOS and iPadOS, so I wonder if Wyze should attempt to do recruitment specific to the latter in order to catch some of these issues before testing apps graduate to production.

I’m running beta on iPhone and iPad. However, I’m probably not a great test. I only have older cameras, CamPlus Lite and no other subscriptions.

So do I. Let me thank you for your Beta testing service. I know I will have to move off of App version 2.50 someday.

I run both the newest Wyze app AND the v2.5 app on my phone at the same time.

I followed this process:

Now I use the 2.5 app for things I like using it for, while still being able to use the newest production or Beta app too. No big deal. Works great!

Doesn’t work with iPhone or iPad…

What meant to say is Wyze may change their minimum App requirements sometime again like they did in 2024.

I have an iPad 4th generation that still works great and was running an older Wyze App version until 2024.

Now I use the 4th Gen iPad just for games with WiFi off.

“Wyze app version 2.50 and below is compatible with Android 7.0+ and iOS 14.0+ devices only.”

Ah yeah, won’t work for Apple at the moment, though that might change in the near future due to some antitrust cases that are looking to force allowing it in the US (they’re already forced to allow it in the EU with wild success).

And yes, minimum app requirements keep changing due to feature, API, and security considerations that are only available on newer versions. I wouldn’t be shocked if Wyze is eventually forced to raise the limit to iOS 17 or 18.5 in the coming years due to major changes that happened with those. I’m sure they’ll postpone as long as they reasonably can though. I’m almost surprised they haven’t already raised the Android limit up to Android 12 or 13 based on the Play Integrity API changes alone that are now mandatory. I’m curious to see how long they delay all of that to maintain support for older devices vs when they decide they are obligated to bring things up to date and be more secure with more options. Tough balancing act in this industry.
