I was just told to come here by tech support and re-request that Wyze add the download to the Amazon Store to support all of our Amazon products. I was successful in upgrading the app via APKMirror but there is no method to be able to have it upgrade automatically on any of my Amazon devices.
I have been running this setup for years on Amazon fire tablets/sticks (my previous post): Wyze app in the Amazon app store for Fire / Kindle and other devices - #22 by mrjmwalker
Or any of the FireSicks or FireTV cubes? It is a pain to get the lates app version via APKMirror and there is no auto update available.
I can get most things done with a mini keyboard that has a touchpad.
Same here - Dedicated monitor for my front door steps using FireStick 4K, 24/7, 2 other FireSticks, and FireTV Cube. No auto updates so I have re-side load every time a new version looks like it may be beneficial for me.
Since Wyze uses Amazon to sell their product, it would be nice to develop an app and then they might sell more products. I have side loaded it with the side loaded Google Play but it will not push notifications.
One vote for the Amazon app store WITH the Wyze app!
Yes, that would be nice
Check out the Fire Toolbox. You can turn your Fire tablet into pretty much a standard Android tablet and add the Google PlayStore.
THANK YOU! I love the price of the Amazon Fire Tablets, but hate how limited they are. It’s really annoying. I have had 3 different fire tablets, and I mostly like them for the kids, but they are also a pain.
I’m going to have to look at this video more closely and consider doing this.
Keep an eye on Woot.
No Fire tablets currently available but a month ago i bought a Fire HD 8 Refurb tablet for $19. I did not need another tablet but could not pass up the price. It gave me a chance to try the Fire Toolbox mentioned in the above video which worked on my Fire HD 8.
Woot BTW is an Amazon company.
Yeah, I was one of the original Woot fans back before Amazon bought them out. Their BOC’s (“Bag of Crap” events) were crazy. System ALWAYS crashed. My brothers and I had emergency codes to let each other know when a BOC event launched, and then we’d use a browser that was rigged to do multiple connection requests at once…so while everyone was refreshing constantly, we’d get hundreds of requests in for every single request everyone else was trying and so we got the BOC’s almost every time. Pay like $3 for a bag of random stuff, including really expensive electronics. Those were good days.
I still check Woot sometimes, though often rely on Slickdeals to tell me when something good is available there.
I would totally buy another Fire HD 8 for $19!!! Worst case scenario, you can use those in Alexa Show mode, and they are AWESOME Alexa Shows for way cheaper at that rate! Plus you can always switch it back to tablet mode. But now if I can convert it to a NORMAL Android tablet, I’ll definitely buy more!!! I’m on the lookout. Going to go add Fire tablets to my watch list on Slickdeals now.
Thanks for the tip on SlickDeals. I am seeing an EXPIRED Fire HD 8 that was $10 dollars.
I might set an alert and buy whatever the limit is to give as gifts if it drops to $10 again.
There is a reason why there is no Wyze App in the Amazon App. store.
Either Amazon doesn’t want it there or Wyze doesn’t want it there.
Wyze would sell more cameras if their App was in the Amazon library.
Amazon would sell more Wyze cameras AND more Fire tablets if there was a Wyze App. in the Amazon App. store.
Either both companies are STUPID or they hate each other for some reason.
Well Amazon does own Blink, so there’s that.
Yep, that’s true.
But Blink is a Required Subscription Service.
Wyze is a voluntary Subscription Service.
So as competitors they must hate each other and don’t want to make more money.
Perhaps, Wyze could create an app that runs on the Amazon Fire tablet and offer it from their own website.
There is a Wyze App, that runs on the iPhone and on the iMac.
I used the Fire Toolbox mentioned in the above posted video which put the PlayStore on my Fire HD 8.
With the PlayStore I can pretty much run any Android App on my Fire tablet.

This is certainly true, but it may not be worth the amount of effort for the amount of extra cameras.
Overall I would say the above are an oversimplification. Wyze has actually addressed this very issue in the past. Both companies would love to have the Wyze app on there, but there are a few reasons they haven’t done so. Some of it is related to differences with the Amazon App store, though minor…but there is a reason the overwhelming majority of apps don’t bother with the Amazon App store. Still, Wyze admitted that the main issue is mostly the development resources required to maintain apps across multiple platforms, particularly with as often as they do updates vs the amount of market share or users who would use it (being extremely small). The same problem is why they haven’t built a separate app for Windows, and Linux, and Chromebooks, and each smart TV platform. Statistically, 72.23% of the global market has Android, and 27.39% has iOS, so more than 99% of all users are covered with just supporting those 2 platforms. The rest are tiny insignificant market shares by comparison.
What is hoped is that “Matter” might be able to standardize some protocols to the point where we will be able to use any of our products on any of our preferred platforms, even if just through using things like Matter Casting for streaming cameras on TVs or other OS platforms.
While an official app would be preferable, at least they have an alexa skill to give us access to a lot of Wyze stuff on Amazon devices. I use it all the time on lots of Amazon devices (I have Alexa stuff all throughout my home). I think it will get even better when Alexa+ is fully rolled out. And then even better when Matter Camera libraries and Matter Casting is official.
Woot has Fire HD 8 tablets for $19.99 after using the FIREFIVE discount code.
Here is a screenshot of the deal.
And Ring.
