WYZE TECH., when will there be a Appliction for Amazon Fire 7?

When will there be a Appliction for Amazon Fire 7? Enough people are asking. Seems it would be a selling point for people who own an Amazon Fire or android.

I don’t work for Wyze, so I can’t tell you their official reason, but I have spoken to some other app developers about this and it sounds like there are a few issues that cause fewer developers to be willing to use Amazon’s App Store and why it remains so small and never really grows:

  1. It takes additional effort due to slightly different requirements
  2. Amazon’s developer tools and resources are not comprehensive or well-supported
  3. there are differences in guidelines and enforcement
  4. Fee and Royalty structure is different (I don’t know the details of this though)
  5. Small market share with a smaller ecosystem makes all of the above not worth it.

Amazon App Store did grow a little bit starting a couple of years ago when Microsoft announced supporting it on Windows 11 and making it the exclusively supported Android-based app store for Windows. Several other companies suddenly started to add apps to it, but then Microsoft announced they were canceling the project, and it seems to have died off again. :sob:

For now, most people, including myself, just go grab whatever app we want on our Fire tablets from APKmirror and sideload it. Problem [mostly] solved…though it doesn’t automatically do updates.

Anyway, Wyze has indicated they are unlikely to add their app to Amazon officially. The wishlist is in a status of “Maybe later” but you’re welcome to vote for this topic here:

Apkmirror.com directs me to the Google play store to download the APK mirror app. Of course, I can’t download from that site using my Fire tablet.

Yeah, if you download an APK (which I usually recommend) then you can easily side load that app file without anything special.

But if you select to download the bundle file version, then you need a special installer that is also on the device you want to sideload that app on to. Seapup gave a good link to the installer.

thank you for your post. I’ve tried side loading and the closest I get to completion is the Wyze app loads and asks for login information. I put in my ‘registered’ name and pw and then it goes no where. It stays on the login page. I’ve tried many different versions and updates for Amazon fire 7, 7th generation, iOS ver. 5.7.1.0 and all either say, 'not for this device" or it just returns to the login page and sits. Any help would be appreciated to get past the login point.

Try an older Wyze app version that starts with a 2. While I don’t think they have, it is possible that Wyze updated their latest app to be Google Play dependent for authentication. If you can install it with an older version 2 app, then we will know this is much more likely the case.

I’m told some people just install Google play on their fire tablets to make everything simpler (though installing Google Play takes some work).

Are you talking about logging into the Wyze app with your account? Reading your post, I get the impression that you’ve managed to get some version of the app installed on your device but that you’re having difficulty completing the login process. If that’s correct, then I wonder if you need to change a browser setting and/or try a different browser as discussed in this topic:

When you launch the Wyze app and tap the Get Started button, the Wyze app sends you to your device’s default browser to complete the authentication process, and at the end of that the browser is supposed to pass you back to the Wyze app, but that may not happen seamlessly depending on what browser and/or browser settings you’re using. I don’t know what browsers are available on Fire OS devices, but maybe something in that other topic will provide helpful ideas, and then you can share that if you find a solution.

The other thing I wonder about with login issues is VPNs. You didn’t mention using one, but VPNs have been known to cause a lot of users’ login problems, so you might consider temporarily disabling that if it’s an issue.
