Why do you ignore us Wyze?: Another Wyze Outdoor Cam V1 & V2 "No Cooldown" Thread

Hello @WyzeLi

The thread referenced below, that you replied to is closed, so I can’t reply there, so I thought I’d start a new thread on this issue.

You replied on April of 2022 and called this One Minute Cooldown issue a “high-priority bug”. It is now April 2025, three years have elapsed and this “high-priority bug” still isn’t fixed?

Do you think it’s good business practice for Wyze to continue to ignore this issue?

I purchased a WCO v2 Starter Kit on April 2, 2025, and put it into service on April 3, 2025. I left the Outdoor Base Station on the firmware it arrived with out of the box (4.16.3.117), refusing any firmware updates.

I left the WCO v2 on the firmware that it came with out of the box (4.48.2.62), refusing all Firmware updates,

The WCO v2 maintains it’s “No Cooldown” setting. (I’ve not taken the time to review recordings to see if it’s actually adhering to the No Cooldown setting)

Perhaps it’s not the app, but the firmware that is causing this issue?

I have 30 days to return this starter kit to Amazon, and will be doing so if this isn’t fixed by then. Unfortunately, I can’t return my 8 other WCO V1s, and another V2, as they are past their return period.

I don’t know which is worse, 3 years of Wyze not fixing the issue or Wyze lying to us and ignoring us on this issue.

Not to throw fuel on any fire (but maybe)…

The newer Battery Cam Pro has a “No Cooldown” limit. It’s a much nicer camera all around as well. If you can find them on sale, I highly suggest upgrading. I traded all mine out and have no regrets.

Someone needs to hold Someone at Wyze to the fire on this debacle, Enough with the silent treatment by Wyze on this issue!

If, after say, two or three years from the purchase date of the Battery Cam Pro, Wyze refuses to fix the same issue (as an example), would you be upset at that point? I would be. Not going to say it’ll happen, but with how they are treating the WCO v1 & v2 cooldown issue, one will never know if they opt to do the same to the BCPro.

As I stated before, and tagged @wyzedave in that message, Wyze is selling a defective product, brand new right here, right now on Amazon:

I purchased one as a test to see how it would behave out of the box with no firmware updates (still testing with multiple other V1’s on that base as I have time, before I return it to Amazon for a full refund due to it being potentially defective, I won’t flash it to the new firmware as a part of my testing until a few days before I return it.)

Yes it is in many ways, agreed, Not so much in other ways.
yes: removable battery, I like that
yes: I don’t have to use a Base Station
yes: 5 GHz Wifi support
yes: 2.5 HDR
no: No Time Lapse
no: No Scheduled Recording
no: no bottom mount (WCO could easily be ‘tossed’ on the ground for wildlife surveillance , aka, rats and mice running through the area)

I have purchased 2 White, and 2 Black Battery Cam Pro’s, as well as solar panels for them, two are in service, two have not been deployed yet.

Did you toss them in the garbage? Were they still fully functional minus the 1 minute cooldown forced upon them?

In my case, the significant amount of Dollars I’ve spend on the eight WCO v1’s (and two base stations), along with a WCO v2 and it’s base station, and now the 2nd WCO v2 with another base station, amount to (Pulling out a WAG calculator) at least $500 will not let me just toss them aside when they are still very functional if Wyze would just fix the issue with the Cooldown.

Do I expect them to last forever, no, do I expect them to work properly for at least 3 years? Yep. Here’s looking at you WCO v2 purchased on April 2nd, 2025…

Accountable is a fun word. I think the silence + making a new camera is your answer to the cooldown issue.

Dark Mode and Landscape mode enters the room. Along with 500 other minor issues. Your Cooldown is #478 on the list of things that people want them to fix.

Traded them into Wyze for a credit and never looked back.

Hi @CatHome, could you please clarify your issue again? Is it that your WCO V2 doesn’t have a no cooldown option in Event Recording setting?
If so, could you pls confirm that you have a Cam Plus license or equivalent service license as the no cooldown option is a paid feature. Then you should see the option on the top of the list in the recording cooldown dropdown menu.

Hello @WyzeLi,

Thank you for your reply, I appreciate it

My WCO V2 and V1 both have the ability to set “no cooldown”. I hit save I go back into the settings for no cool down and it shows “no cooldown“, but within 24 hours, it reverts to “1 minute cooldown”

I have Cam plus on all of my 27+ Wyze cameras,

From what I read in the forums , this is not an isolated case and this issue has been going on for over three years.

I have posted in detail on another thread the testing I have done to include purchasing a brand new V2 starter kit.

Please refer to this thread starting this message for the troubleshooting and logs I have submitted in the last week or two:

I look forward to working with you at resolving this issue affecting many of your customers

Hi @CatHome Thanks for clarifying! Could you please submit an app log and let me know the log id number? We will check your camera settings from the backend. I’ll try to repro this on my WCO V2 as well and my WCO V2 is on firmware version 4.48.4.427.

Hi @CatHome Thanks for all the logs! I did recreate this issue on my v2! I’m going to work with the dev team to fix this as quickly as we can. It could take days or weeks depending on the app or firmware release schedule but I will keep you posted. Feel free to ping me for an update anytime!

Or years . The issue was caused by the 6 November 2023 firmware update.

Good to hear that you were able to recreate this issue.

I look forward to a fix for this issue, and thank you for engaging on this issue. My nine WCOs (2 v2, and 7 v1 cams will be happy to finally take care of this issue.)

Days would be amazing, weeks would be great, but please don’t let this issue fester for years as stated by @Antonius

I have a stable of WCO’s standing by to be used to test any firmware that might fix this issue.

Thank you again.

Hello @WyzeLi any updates on the “No Cooldown” Issue?

The WCO v2 Starter Kit I purchased on Amazon is eligible to be returned through May 3, 2025. I’m hoping to keep it, but if I don’t see some progress soon, I don’t want to be stuck with another WCO that is of no use to me, and will have no choice but to initiate a return of that WCO v2 Starter Kit.

@WyzeLi I just read thought this thread that started Nov of 2023:

Wyze Cam Outdoor V1 with Cam Plus - Cooldown period resets itself every day

It’s most recent post being 14 hours ago.

Many WCO v1/v2 users in that thread that I’m sure will be quite happy that you will be the one that finally gets this issue resolved once and for all:

@jh006 @Antonius @B-Man @bsmithinnc @jozefd14 @just2jack @capecodexcavating @dbateswv @amanda.harley21

The forum will only let me mention 10 users in a post, sadly, as there are 29 more users I’d like to mention from other threads on this issue

When can we expect to hear an update on this issue?

My WCO v1 Cams are 4.5 years old and still working, I don’t think they will live to see the “FIX”.

I’m hoping @WyzeLi will prove you wrong

I have until May 3rd, 2025 to return the Wyze Cam Outdoor Starter Bundle I purchased from Amazon, so I’m hoping we get some movement on this issue, or back to Amazon this goes, and $79.98 goes back into my bank account.

Can’t say the same for my 9 other WCO’s that are past any return windows :frowning:

If Wyze doesn’t fix this issue, I’m done buying any additional Wyze products, as well as done with recommending them to friends and family.

I understand your eagerness to get this fixed—and I’m genuinely appreciative of @WyzeLi’s willingness to engage and look into this—but it doesn’t personally affect me, as I’ve told you before:

Any time Wyze can fix an issue that affects a lot of users, though, I’m on board.
