Wyze Cam COOL DOWN setting doesn't work

I have few WYZE OUTDOOR CAM. 2 of them plugged in with power so don’t have to worry about battery on those 2 otherwise they are crappy with short battery life,

I go to settings and switch to NO COOL DOWN period and 5 mins below that. but the video clips are short no continous recording and when I check back a day or 2 days or 3 days later in the settings on when wyze app on my iphone, the COOLDOWN reverses to 1 min. Have been going on for long time. app is up to date and super strong wifi at home. also the camera notification beep happens 5 secs after an event is detected. i am up for renewal of subscription but if you guys have a suggestion for similar pricing camera. pls provide one. i need couple of camera for front and back and i dont like dirlling

Apparently what you’re describing is a known longstanding issue, and searching for @Antonius "6 November 2023" turns up a number of results, because I think @Antonius “celebrates” the anniversary.

Yeah, this has been an issue for 14 months. You can’t go lower than 1min cool down on Wyze Cam outdoor even if you’re a paying customer.

They’ve acknowledged this issue and started to work on it, then suddenly ghosted us on the issue for 14 months now (16 months it’s been happening). Pretty disappointing. :man_shrugging:

i didn’t renew my cam plus unlimited for $100. They should make wireless cam outdoor with much longer battery life than the current ones so if i leave it outside without wire, I don’t have to charge every 4 days. I have 2 of them plugged in so battery is not an issue but the COOL DOWN setting not going lower than 1 min is very bad. whenever you chat with WYZE reps they pretend to not know this and the 5 secs event detection alert delay and wants you to create ticket number and log in and back and forth useless trouble shootings that never produce result.

But setting your cooldown setting lower will run your battery down faster, you’re saying you want more battery life. You can’t have both.

If you want a lot of battery life, get some USB battery banks (and obviously protect them from the elements). Or a solar panel.

If you read my post above , out of 4 I have two of them plugged in so I don’t have to worry about battery . The other two are not plugged in and the full battery last few days only not the 2-6 months they claim. I see that Wyze still continue to mention the camplus subscription benefit as no cooldown period even though everyone knows cooldown auto sets to 1 min . And as you guys said it’s been going on for yrs . The other part maybe not as bad as no cooldown is the event detection alert which happens 5 secs after an event is detected . There was a review of this on YouTube 2 yrs ago . Wyze still hasn’t done anything to fix this .

I’ve a friend who has seen my two Battery Cam Pro’s with solar panels and is considering a purchase of the same. The BCP’s don’t suffer from this Wyze Mandated 1 Minute Cooldown Syndrome like the WCO v1 and v2’s do.

The question I’m asking myself, is, Why would I recommend that he buy the BCP’s, when they two are susceptible to the Wyze Mandated 1 Minute Cooldown Syndrome at any given moment without warning?

The fact that I have EIGHT WCO v1’s, and One WCO v2’s that have a bad case of the Wyze Mandated 1 Minute Cooldown Syndrome makes me want to never recommend a Wyze product to friends and family ever again.
