Fix-It Friday Callout

Well my Forum friends, we made it to Friday!

And it’s the first Friday of the month, you know what that means. it means it is time for this month’s Fix-It-Friday callout! :tada:

If this is your first Fix-It Friday, welcome! For background, while our communities are not designed to be a replacement for Wyze Support, our community members and community managers do our best to help you out here. As our communities scale up, we want to make sure that any outstanding bugs or issues that you folks are facing are on our internal radar and that we’re transparent in our process of working on them.

Here’s how this works:

  • We’ll make a post on the first Friday of the month in every community (Core Community on Facebook, Forums, Reddit, and Discord).
  • Check the comments. If you see any other comments with issues that you’re facing, vote for them with a like (the heart button at the bottom of their reply)
  • Got something new? Reply to our post with the top issue that you’re facing this week with your Wyze products to help loop us in.
  • We’ll grab the top comment from each community and make a follow-up post on Monday to detail what those issues are and how we plan to fix them. If we need more info from the community to help figure out what’s going on, we’ll let you know on Monday - so please make sure to take a look!
  • The following Mondays in the month, we’ll be posting updates about our progress on Fix-It Friday submissions.
  • Sometimes Mondays are actually Tuesdays if we don’t get all the info we need on time for posting on Monday. Our apologies! :sweat_smile:
  • Remember, this is for existing things that aren’t working right. If you are looking for a new feature or for us to add functionality that’s not already available, please use our Wishlist instead!

We’re constantly working on improvements for everyone. But we hope that this process will both help us prioritize issues that are important to our communities and help you feel more in the loop.

V3 SD Card Playback is skipping playing the first minute of every hour (excluding Midnight)

Originally reported with a video example here:

Confirmed with more details that it was happening to the first minute of every hour here:

@SlabSlayer found that midnight was excluded from the playback bug:

Others have also confirmed this since then, and as I recall, someone found it happens on other Model cams too. I just checked and it is still occurring on V3’s with recent firmware/app.

Event Recordings Stutter

This doesn’t seem to be specific to any cam, firmware, or event type/length, and I’m not experiencing the same type of stutter as the OP.

This is a huge one. None of the tstats are functioning properly after the latest fw update. It dates two, three, sometimes even four inputs before the desired action is taken. This is insanely frustrating !!! I created a post about this and several people replied with the same issue

Forum - Wyze Cam v3 micro SD card playback is skipping the first minute of every hour (excluding midnight) :stopwatch:

We have a fix for this in the works but it was not in time for the most recent firmware release. We are hoping to have it added to the next firmware release.

Core - Not getting tags on Cam Plus videos :heavy_plus_sign:

We are currently investigating reports of this. It would help us greatly if you could submit a device log if you are experiencing this issue. You can submit a log using the following instructions!

Recreate the issue and then open up the Wyze app to Account > Wyze Support > Submit a Log. Select your device from the dropdown menu, write a description of the problem with the date, time, and time zone that it occurred, and then make sure that the Send Log option is selected. Send that log to us and post the log number here as a reply, please!

Discord - Cameras that are subscribed to Cam Plus Lite cannot enable person detection when camera is in the Home Monitoring System (HMS) :walking_man:

This is another issue we could use some help with! If you have this issue, could you submit a device log using the following instructions.

Recreate the issue and then open up the Wyze app to Account > Wyze Support > Submit a Log. Select your device from the dropdown menu, write a description of the problem with the date, time, and time zone that it occurred, and then make sure that the Send Log option is selected. It is currently looking like we are still on track for the 2.37 release.

This should be starting to show up for everyone although we are still working out a few kinks with it.

Reddit - Wyze Video Doorbell is getting stuck on 3/3 instead of displaying the live stream :three:

We have been monitoring the latest firmware release and so far it is looking good! We will continue to monitor this, let us know how it is working for you.

Core - Cameras appear offline in the app, though they are online and viewable :astonished:

The firmware we just released should greatly improve this issue. Let us now how it is working for you.

Wyze Video Doorbell is getting stuck on 3/3 instead of displaying the live stream

Ever since we updated the Video doorbell firmware to .314 almost a week ago, we never had this issue! Before that it was multiple occurrences daily. We’ll keep monitoring it and report back in about a month. Thank you Wyze team.

Wyze Cam v2 Firmware 4.9.9.1472 (November 2, 2022)

Wyze Cam V2 Notification is broken after updating to the latest firmware (.1472).
Even though “Event Recording” is enabled, the Notification page says “Event Recording must be enabled to enable Notification”.

My cameras are not recording 23 seconds of video, only 8 or 12. I have CamPlus, and firmware is up to date. Some of my licenses were purchased through the app and some through the website. I have tried seeing if there is anything I need to do through both platforms but get nowhere. What do I need to do to make them work? I don’t like paying for something I’m not getting.

Have tried this yet?

Go to Account → Services and “unassign” all of your cams so you have nothing but availabke empty slots

Go to Account → App Settings and clear the cache file

Close out the app and reopen it

Go back to Account → Services and reassign all your cams to your CamPlus slots

This has resolved the issue for a number I f people.

also very disappointed the thermostat issue was not even mentioned, this is a HUGE issue that is affecting everybody I know which wyze tstats, It is currently a MISERABLE user experience trying to make any change, wait, make the change again, wait, and repeat sometimes 3-4 times just to change the temperature !!!

Can you recreate this issue and then send in a device log and give me the log number. I will see if i can get it looked into.

On the home page of the app the on/off button at the right needs to be larger. Most often when I try to turn a camera on it ends up going right into the camera live view, sometimes numerous times. This is very annoying and could be fixed if the button was larger.

We’re waiting on QA for this fix but we’ve merged the code. This fix will be in the next Wyze Cam v3 firmware release.

If we don’t hear back about this one by next week we’ll remove it from the list. So please speak up if you’re running into motion-only Event Video tags without stuff like vehicle, person, or pet detection! Here’s how to send a log for it:
