Wyze has disabled audio recording from SD card on FLOODLIGHT cam v3

I haven’t had any issues at all with the v3 cams. It’s only the v3 cams that are integrated with the v1 floodlights that are not recording audio to the microSD card. However, if you purchase the v1 floodlight cams and do not allow the firmware update, you will be fine. But if you purchase the v3 cams without the floodlight, you can update to the latest firmware with no issues.

Thank you for the advice, I have 7 cameras in my group with no problems it’s like you say that it’s the v3 with the floodlights that have the issue, I’ll try getting a HE sd card, once again thank you grapefruityoda and YankeeHank :pray:t3:

On the other thread, I specifically tested all the available firmwares back in January 2024 and confirmed that any firmware after 4.36.9.139 will have this no audio playback in microSD footage for the Cam V3 Floodlight. What’s funny is that the playback audio works when I disconnect the Wyze Cam V3 from the Floodlight even with the latest firmware. However, when I reconnected it back to the Floodlight the audio playback is gone again.

I supplied a log file to their devs and it looks like they are able to reproduce this issue in their February Fix-it Friday thread so I hope it will get fixed soon.

Thanks for sharing! That is an important data point. I had not thought to test it while disconnected from the floodlight. Hopefully that will help the developers to better isolate and fix.

I have a Wyze Cam V3 running firmware version 4.36.11.7095 and am experiencing exactly the same issue. New recordings, as well as older recordings which used to have sound, do not have sound. So frustrating and ridiculous this issue has been going on so long

Yeah. All recent firmware post 4.36.9.139 have this issue. According to WyzeJasonJ’s last week post in the March’s Fix-It Friday thread, they have found the root cause of this and the next firmware should fix this problem supposedly.

This is just to update that the issue is still present with the latest beta. I was hoping it was fixed when it mentioned “Bug fixes” on the latest beta firmware.

Cam V3 FW is 4.36.12.9357 beta
Floodlight FW is 1.0.0.55
App version is v2.50.0 (423)
Plugin version is 2.50.0.22

I see you mention that this is still present in the 9357 beta, could you submit a log and get me the log number so I can get it to the devs to see why it is still not working.

I can also confirm this issue is still present in the latest beta firmware. I was hoping it would finally be fixed. It’s now been over a year without a fix and I’m starting to think it will never be fixed.

Thanks for following up.

Log ID: 1355368

Cam V3 FW is 4.36.12.9357 beta
Floodlight FW is 1.0.0.55
App version is v2.50.0 (423)
Plugin version is 2.50.0.22

Just to recap previously, no sound audio playback in microSD footage in the Wyze Cam V3 Floodlight. There is a loud static noise occurring every 1 minute interval in the playback. Any firmware after 4.36.9.139 is confirmed to have this same issue.

On previous firmware I was able to confirm that playback audio works when I disconnect Wyze Cam V3 from the Floodlight. Then, when I reconnected it back to the Floodlight the audio playback was gone again. I have not tested again with this latest beta firmware as it was a hassle to disconnect it again and find an alternative power source.

Sound icon is enabled on playback.
There is no sound in playback even if I try to record the playback footage.
There is sound on specific cloud event playback.
There is sound on live.
There is sound when I record live footage and it plays back with sound as well.
Advanced Settings → Record Sound is enabled

Thank you for the details, I will pass this up to the team right now.

I passed your information up and they let me know the fix did not make it into this firmware. The QA did not give the results we wanted, they are looking at the info you provided to see if they can gather any new information that will help them.

I can confirm the latest beta 4.36.12.9751 finally fixes the audio playback with the V3 Floodlight. I am going to do further testing before I recommend others to try it.

Cam V3 FW is 4.36.12.9751 beta
Floodlight FW is 1.0.0.55
App version is v2.50.2 (442)
Plugin version is 2.50.0.24

Please note the previous beta 4.36.12.9357 firmware introduced a weird behavior like the OG cams where after 30 min of internet outage, the micro SD recording starts recording into randomly generated date folder with a wrong timestamp. As a result, you couldn’t play back the footage in the app and you have to physically remove the micro SD card to play it on a phone or PC. You can technically play the recordings back in the app if you know the specific date of the random generated folder.

This is great news! I’ve been holding off purchasing any new wyze products until this issue is resolved. Unfortunately, the old firmware has issues of its own, so it’s been frustrating trying to get any use out of it other than to check live streams and using it as a light.

Yeah the firmware 4.36.12.9751 beta looks to be pretty stable for now. You can try it out.

I did however did the same network test with this V3 beta firmware 4.36.12.9751 as before. I turned off the network at 7:55am and turned it back on at 9:55am. I was only able to view the playback footage until 8:25am in the app. After 30 min of internet outage, the recordings start saving in a randomly generated dated folder with a incorrect timestamp. As a result, you need to physically remove the micro SD card to play it back in a phone or PC. Flashing this V3 beta firmware will cause to act exactly like the OG cameras. The V3 stable firmware of 4.36.11.8391 can playback the full 2 hour no problem.

And that 2 hr playback has no sound, correct?

Yes, I should clarify 4.36.11.8391 can video playback for the full 2 hour, but there is no sound if it is hooked onto the Floodlight.

Sorry for the newbie question, but is there a resource that shows me how to download the beta firmware and install it onto my V3 Floodlight? I looked around but could see either a) where the release can be downloaded from or b) anything indicating how I could get it onto my device…

Once you signed up then the beta firmware should be available within 5 to 10 minutes in Account > Firmware Update. You might need to restart the app.

I updated to v4.36.11.8391 on 07/18/24 and audio is now being recorded onto the SD card. I haven’t noticed any major issues.

UPDATE: I’m actually running 4.36.13.0416.
