Wyze app update - Released 9/9/2024

I have gone onto my computer before, and now my laptop and saw all the cams at once. It’s nice to have a larger screen for them all, but the quality isn’t as good as it is on the smaller screen.

Ok, I am home now but for some odd reason, I can’t take a screen shot from my iPad. Looks like the buttons have seized from not being used for so long.

What I discovered is that my app on the iPhone is 3.1.0 (6) and the one on the iPad is 3.1.0 (5). So the iPad (older version has SmartFocus but iPhone with newer version, does not). Go figure.

However, it doesn’t phase me a bit as this is not a feature I need or want.

As I said earlier, not useful. It’s nice to play around when you are bored but not important. Also, it doesn’t even follow what it needs to follow. For example it is supposed to focus on the face of the person who’s been detected but it moves around so much that the face becomes unrecognizable.

Which bugs are fixed? A bit more detail is appreciated.

When can we expect additional triggers or events for the Wyze Thermostat???

I barely have the energy to express this. Sometime in the last day or two I have

lost the ability to filter Events by Person (Cam Plus Lite.)

Tap the icon, get this instead:

Tap the filters icon, no Person filter presented:

Check my Cam Plus Lite service subscription, all looks fine:

Uninstalled app 3.1.0 (564) rebooted phone reinstalled. No joy.

Hello all,
Ever since Android app version 3.1.0 (564) got released, it has been working fine so far (knock on wood) on my wife’s and my cellphones, but I also watch the cams on the home PC using Bluestacks, and ever since the release of 3.1.0 (564) there have been issues with it.

Note: I do not subscribe to any paid WYZE plans.
I currently have five v3 cams and two v4 cams

Bluestacks is emulating a Samsung Galaxy S22 running Android 11 with T-Mobile service.
Prior to this recent update, it ran the WYZE app fine with no issues.

Since the update, my camera group that contains all seven cams will not load live view.
If I go to individual live full-screen view of the cams, all the of v3 cams will load individually, the two v4 cams still refuse to load.

I tried combining only the five v3 cameras as a group, excluding the v4 cams, to test if maybe since they will load individually, maybe they will load as a group together without the v4’s in there. That group configuration still would not load live view.

The important thing to us is that the app is still running without issue on both of our cell phones, which are Motorola One 5G UW running Android 11 (I know, old, will probably be upgrading very soon)

I would obviously like it more if it kept running on Bluestacks too but it’s not a catastrophic issue like if it was glitching badly on our cellphones too and we completely lost all camera function and control.

I tried uninstalling and re-installing the app in Bluestacks multiple times, no improvement.

It’s more an annoyance than anything. I just thought I’d mention it to note that it is something that was fine prior to this release but is now not working.

I was contemplating looking into getting tinycam pro to view the cameras on the desktop PC. For anyone that currently does that, is it worth it? How much does the pro version currently cost? Do they charge something monthly like a subscription or just a one-time charge at purchase?

Thanks everyone.

Maybe Wyze is trying to be sneaky and quietly remove person detection from CamLite ? :man_shrugging:

I used BlueStacks and on last update, play store tells me Wyze is not compatible with my “device”…

I didn’t get that message, it downloaded the update but it’s full of all the bugs and glitches noted above so I’m not really any better off than if I got the message you got.

Actually I would be better off right now if I did get a message like that and it made me stay back at the previous version that was working fine for me.

What device do you have Bluestacks emulating? Maybe try changing it to a different device, but then again I wouldn’t do it right now or you might end up in my current “good news/bad news” dilemma where yes it loaded, but now it doesn’t work :man_facepalming:t2:

Did you try changing your virtual device?

I noticed one time a Pixel was reading my email. I was surprised to see it was my virtual pixel.

Maybe you can change from what you have for something newer, like my S24 Samsung, virtually.

The only two options I’m given for devices for Bluestacks to emulate are:
Phone types: Samsung Galaxy S20+, S21 Ultra, S22, S22 Ultra, and XIAOMI 11T PRO
Service types: T-Mobile and AT&T

I tried some mixing and matching between the two options and none of the new combos worked either.

There was also a Bluestacks update available from 5.21.505.1008 to 5.21.550.1031 which I upgraded to, nothing improved.

I’m thinking more and more that maybe tinycam pro might be something i should look at. Just haven’t done much research on it yet.

Very interesting.

I have a second phone that is a Galaxy S21 that works. Wonder what the virtual Android version is? I am on Android 14.

Curious to learn what you find out. I used to use Bluestacks.

I don’t know. It’s just tedious from the simple frog’s POV.

I have been using Tiny Cam Pro for a few years, and generally, it works well. I have it installed on two Android Tablets (Fire Tablets (HD10 Plus-11th Gen, and Max11- 13th Gen))with Play Store sideloaded), an iPad (6), and an iPhone14 Pro Max. I like how the TinyCam Pro usually re-establishes lost video feed, which the Wyze App did not do until recently. Setting up the feed from Wyze can be a pain and I choose to not pay for the TinyCam Pro Cloud service. I have not completed the setup on either the iPad or the iPhone as I did not feel like wasting my time. I mainly use the App on one of the Android tablets as my usual dedicated monitoring method for 4 Wyze cameras. I used to have it set up with six all visible on the screen at the same time but after my last move I dropped down to only using 4 of the Wyze cameras. Recently, the Wyze app and the web viewer now allow 4 camera views simultaneously, reducing the need for TinyCam Pro.

Sooooooooooooooooooooo…

Reverted to app 2.5.x

REGAINED the ability to filter Events by Person (Cam Plus Lite.)

So. I don’t really WANT to be on app 2.50.7.487. But here I am. Out of NECESSITY.

I want to give this a  but with a :disappointed: decoration, maybe something like

heart with disappointed decoration

or

disappointed with heart decoration

but I don’t know which would be a better expression of the language of comfort. This is frustrating.

You’re welcome. Even though he uses them danged ol’ fruit phones, I think I’m with the sailor man on this one:

The phone I actually carry (not the one I use for testing and podcasts) will remain on v2.5x for a while.

You keep emailing to buy more but the service keeps getting worse. Your ai recognizes “nothing” as everything except nothing. And the constant waiting for the livestream to reload ( then fail ) then try to reload isn’t conducive to checking on an issue quickly. I need it so I can check on someone who may need help. I also need to see who might be lurking about. By the time the feed actually loads I could have been robbed blind. Just sayn
