Yes, That is my stance. I have used nearly that exact argument.
At this point, before I bring it up again, I’m basically waiting for them to launch their new subscription they’ve been working on all year and telling us is coming soon. If it’s still locked after that long awaited update that involved back end changes, I plan to bring it up again.
Please Wyze fix this app. It takes too long to get the cameras in live view. Every time I open it at least one camera is stuck loading, so I can’t turn the camera off to stop it or change any settings. This is the worst update you have forced upon us! Stop changing crap all the time and focus on fixing bugs!
This version of the app seems to completely break the Video Doorbell v2’s Cameras as Chime feature, even on Android:
I’m glad I made the decision not to upgrade all my devices yet and still have my main phone on v2.5x.
Does anyone know if Wyze has made the v3.0 app available for Android (Go edition)? My lower-end Android tablet is running Android Go 13, and Google Play Store isn’t offering it the update. It’s no biggie to me, because v2.5x runs acceptably on it. I’m just asking out of curiosity.
As a user that has been negative to 3.0, I am willing to admit that I have found the suggestion of putting cameras in groups, even a group of 1 gives the app at least a chance for positive commentary and room for more exploration. Always open to new ideas and approaches.
Clicking off the yellow star of a camera on the Devices page does not turn the camera off to stop it from recording events. It only removes it from view on the Favorites page. I tested this out and the camera still records. The only way I know of to stop a camera from recording is by clicking the button in the upper right hand corner of the live view on the Home Favorites page and this is an issue when the camera is stuck trying to load the livestream.
Every day I have several cameras that get stuck loading the livestream. Sometimes it will load if I shut down the app and open it again, other times I can get it to live view by clicking on the camera in the Devices page. I find it hard to believe that Wyze tested this new update because it’s terribly slow and buggy. Oh wait, it’s just a Wyze thing.
The app needs to stop defaulting to the Home Favorites page and make the multiple camera live view an option, it shouldn’t be forced on us. When it works, I can only see 2 and 1/3 live feeds anyway on my phone. And please don’t say it’s my router or WiFi because both are fast and have never had an issue with any of my other devices, even other camera’s.
No it doesn’t. But it removes it from the “Favorites”, which is the objective. Removing a group or camera from the “Favorites” stops it from trying to connect as soon as the app is started.
But removing a camera from the Favorites page is not fully my objective. I want to be able to turn the camera off, to stop it from recording events and to change the grid and motion setting event settings. I’m flabbergasted that this didn’t come up during the beta testing phase for this update. Or maybe it did and Wyze chose to ignore it. Every time I think Wyze can’t make their software any worse, they do. Technology is supposed to make our lives better, not worse!
It might be instructive if people would state what device they are using each time they post. In some posts it appears the new app is functioning differently than it seems to for me on an iPhone. Since a few of the many posts I have read do mention android maybe that explains some of why after using Wyze products for over 5 years the app feels like a nice improvement to me while others seem to really dislike it.
I did my brave deed for the day, I updated the firmware on my V3 cams that was a gradual release form the middle of July.
V3 Pro update didn’t show up yet.
I think that the point of all this is, that it really doesn’t matter which device one is using … we are all having issues.
A lot of frustration comes from people wanting fixes or features that have been asked about for many years. Then Wyze posts this major release with an all new design and functionality, when they haven’t addressed issues that have been in the software from day 1. And, just off the top of my head let’s say … Landscape mode on tablets, and Dark Mode.
They fixed that issue on my V3 cams. Take just one and try it out, I believe it should work. The issue was you could not playback the SD from the events page.
What? Are they still under warranty? After a friend had a greyed-out playback buttton on his v3, I would check the cam and then store away. Not sure why you would need to keep them freshly unwrapped.
