New apps sucks sucks sucks

Update 8.1.24. This new version sucks. Bring the last version back. Suck suck suck suck.
8.14.24 Still sucks. Go back to the last version. I have around 30 wyze devices and I’m about ready to go to a different brand. This app update sucks. My list of devices won’t [Mod Edit] STAY IN THE ORDER I arrange them. It makes it a royal pain to find the device i need. To scroll thru an unorganized list to find a certain device pisses me off. And if I use the favorites menu then all of my cameras are on nonstop, bogging down my all ready slow internet speed. The person(s) who created this update should not only be fired, but also [Mod Edit]. In case you cant tell, this app REALLY pisses me off.

Can you clarify the version number you referenced? That is not the wyze app version.

yes it does - See watercooler discussion on alternate solutions.

Put your cameras and other items in groups then put the groups into favorites, not the individual devices.

Not only should i not have to do any grouping, i don’t want to group them. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the last version. Your method adds unnecessary pointless steps. It seems this is pissing off a lot of people. I hope wyze comes to their senses soon.

I scrolled through the water cooler discussions back to July 1. I didnt see anything helpful or useful. I standby my original post. The group of programmers and anyone else who had a hand in the approval of the current version, [Mod Edit].

Your anger at me is pointless…I didn’t create the app. I simply made a suggestion that makes the app more usable since it doesn’t try to load all the cameras at once. I’m not sure what pointless steps my suggestion adds. For me, I already had my cameras in groups because it worked better. You may not so you would have to create groups.

You can continue to post complaints and Wyze MAY do something to change the app, but I wouldn’t count on it. So, you can use it in the default configuration or try to mitigate the problems.

Concur the developers should be fired.

As a engineer of almost 5 decades, it continues to amaze me how prevalent the kids with crayons perspective has become. Just when I think I seen the worse along comes this new Wyze app version.

Bring back the old app. It wasn’t perfect and could have used a few tweeks but nothing to the extent of this version.

The suggestion to use grouping isn’t a solution.

May be time to find a Wyze alternative!

Some, not all, of the stuff being changed in todays tech provide no value add. It’s a change just because it’s a change. But, somehow they have to justify their big salaries

Yeah, it would be good if wyze allowed an option to toggle between multiple user interfaces. A workaround would be to tap on Devices to show a list of your cameras. You can arrange them however you want.

The video feed stops when you navigate away from the Favorites list so little to no bandwidth is consumed while you view the Device list.

I rarely post , but this app redesign is terrible. Reminds me of Sonos app issues. For me, grouping is important, but there’s one more important issue. Under the Devices tab, there used to be a very visible “ON/OFF” presence with a clearly lit-up icon that signaled power was on to that device. It has been replaced with a “favorites star” that serves no purpose if ALL of my devices are “favorites.” Now it’s difficult to verify power issues. I have outdoor lights, and I need to see clearly when they are on. With this new update, I have to squint and scroll through my device list to see if they are on or off. What made this obsolete? As you can see, I’m not name calling… I just want an explanation …PLEASE!

If you favorited all your devices, now click the FAVORITES tab in the top left and it’ll very clearly show what is off, on. Offline etc with different colored tiles and labels.

I did that. Here’s the problem… I have cameras and I have plugs. Under the Favorites tab, the cameras appear as large screens. The plugs appear as your screen image shows them, as small tabs. So it’s still difficult to scroll through all my cameras to see the plugs that are off or on, and these are randomly placed. The old “Devices” tab had all the plugs and cameras as simple “on/off” icons, which could be seen without scrolling. It’s a step backward to have the “Star” favorites icon replacing this vital information.

You can drag and drop devices to whatever order you want on the Favorites tab.

Create groups like the home page in the previous app. For the cameras I don’t want to all time live stream, I create groups for different like cameras and left the one I want to have live viewed, my doorbell un grouped. Like so:

A hack in the new app would be to create a group with just the one camera. So you can have the on and off controls operate just that one camera if you want.
