Are you having a problem with the v3 (which you mentioned in your topic), or the Pan Cam v3 (which you tagged this topic)? What actual firmware version are you having an issue with? Are you getting any errors or anything, or can you explain the “can’t be downloaded and shared” statement. Have you contacted Support?
I have five v3 cameras and they have the same problem with terrible, erratic performance, ranging from stopping working, failure to record events, failure to be able to download events and other issues.
When attempting to download 12 second recordings, I either get “Download failed” or the “downloading” screen appears and then jumps back to the favorites display without downloading anything. Sharing is the same… downloading and then nothing.
No errors, just the software is TERRIBLE. They all used to work properly until firmware updates, obviously rushed out without much testing.
If I had issues as bad as you are reporting, I would run some network diagnostics to/from a top-tier US-based server to test the service provider’s throughput.
Looks like you’ve reached out the community here for your issues that your still experiencing, I think the next step in assistance if you want is to contact the official Wyze Support to see if they have any suggestions or input to improve your experience.
So many times internet connected devices are blamed when it is a modem/router/ISP issue.
Check out the Roku camera forum. Lots of similar issues and their cameras are xactly the same other than the firmware and branding.
One thing I noticed is that Roku has people monitoring the forum and replying to most every message.
In addition to Wyze, I have other Internet connected devices that also perform as advertised because my internet connection is robust. Checking those forums, users have similar connection issues, usually corrected by trashing their ISP provided ‘cheap as you can make them’ routers. When a company like Spectrum orders 30,000 routers, even the saving of a dollar is good for the bottom line. Most ISP provided routers cannot be optimized and the default setup is what is best for what their developers determined.
Wyze support is terrible as well. About six months ago, I bought the add on floodlights for two of the v3 cameras. Neither worked.
I spent an hour on the phone with a lady, who agreed that I had done everything that she would have suggested and finally sent me a new one.
That didn’t work either. The connections were good but other than the lights shinning for a new seconds when turning on, they didn’t ever turn on agin!
Done all that. The only common denominator across multiple wifi networks are the worthless V3 camera since are they no longer reliable, which is their primary reason for being.
These problems have occurred on cell networks, different wifi and across multiple v3 cameras. They USED to work properly, now it’s hit or miss, mostly miss.
The firmware and possibly the app “upgrades” are TERRIBLE.
Logs when submitted get sent to the Engineers and Developers to investigate. Once submitted, you wont hear anything back. If you wanted response/interaction, you need to contact Support for assistance, which you did and unfortunately couldn’t find a solution to your issues.
@allanl - When you added the v3 spotlights, did you change the power adapter or go into the camera settings and add spotlight as an accessory and set it’s usage? I had a couple but since replaced with v3pro and v4.
Yes, I added two spotlights that illuminated for a few seconds after poweing on, then when movement was recorded the spotlights, added to the app didn’t light up.
I went through the same steps with the agent 0 nothing which is why I sent the logs in and she sent me another new spotlight, which didn’t work on the two cameras.
so I continually conclude that the firmware/app “upgrades” have ruined good cameras.
Thanks for the response. My v3’s with spotlight did overkill for me with going on and off. Although I did manage to get a good balance, never had failures. But this is pre the past 2 or 3 fw updates to the v3. I basically decided to replace them for appearances and better image quality. Plus the solar motion floodlights I have in the vicinity of the cams give better illumination.
In this case, if it worked better for you on an earlier firmware, you may be able to revert back to an earlier firmware. There are some firmware versions too far back which no longer work with certain recent security changes, but you can go back over a year ago to the October 22, 2023 firmware release when they put out the last critical mandatory security change. If your cameras were working fine last year, then flashing your firmware back to previous firmware version might be something you’d be interested in trying.
It sounds like you’ve done extensive testing and even replaced some of the cameras. I don’t know why your V3’s all keep having so many problems. My initial thought was it must be related to your ISP or Router since I’ve seen that be the issue a billion times, but if you tried on different networks including your cell phone hotspot or whatever and have the same issue, then it baffles me why it’s not working for you but all 12 of mine are working. I can’t think of other good suggestions off the top of my head now other than to try a firmware flash on at least one of your cams back to a version that seemed to work better and see if that shows any difference. It might help to narrow down exactly which firmware is causing conflicts somehow and then it will be easier to figure out what changed in that firmware and what could be related to the issue.
these are mostly trolls, no way to get solution here
wyze sends them free cam once in a while for their efforts to spam forum, so it looks as active, full of users.
myself got two, listed on ebay, nobody wants them
I’m not sure who is being called a troll but the problems with the v3 version remain. Since they worked fine before repeated firmware updates, I can only believe that the firmware updates weren’t tested properly.
I have a Wyze doorbell cameras that does work properly, but its firmware hasn’t been updated for a long time. I fear an “update.”
I also bought a Tapo cameras, that is updated with firmware and works really, really well. No problems with it.
The other complaint is that, whiteout the detection zones enabled they don’t record the same scene movements! I have two v3s with overlapping fields of view. Sometimes one records movement and sometimes the other where they overlap. Once in a while, both record the same scene.
Since these cameras are supposed to ALWAYS record movement, that is a big problem since they don’t.
So Wyze v3 cameras are junk, thank s to the firmware disasters. Avoid these as they are a waste or time and money.
