Solar panel/battery for Wyze Cam OG

I don’t see an official solar panel for Cam OG from Wyze. I was wondering if there’s a 3rd-party option that’s proven to work well. Your input would be appreciated.

Cam OG is not a battery camera. A solar panel will not work for it.

The solar panels work with the Wyze Outdoor cams. These have batteries in them.

Yes, I understand that OG has no built-in camera. That’s why I was wondering if there’s a solar panel/battery that people have used with it.

Some people have built their own for cameras, but so far I haven’t seen anything easy to do for cameras that record 24/7 running solely off solar. I wish some company would make an easy, affordable solution.

Solar powered Wyze camera - only requires wifi connection

Here is where I landed. 50W panel, single battery. Tested the load and the battery supported 2x V3 cams on its own for approximately 30 hours with no solar input. I was anticipating two batteries so found a different tray to support two. With real life load figured out I might just add a second battery and do some additional stuff using this setup. Thanks for the pointers, @carverofchoice. Wow, those setups were elaborate! I think I will just buy several 26ft flat USB cables and call it a day.

Keep in mind that sometimes doing a USB extension too long will make the Power drop too much and affect the functionality of the camera. It might be better to use an extension cord for part of the way there. Maybe review this thread for some ideas of how long of a cable you can do or how to compensate with a better power adapter to go with the longer cord:

I want to replace a Cam outdoor (I have 2 - V1 and v2. Both have failed because weather has attached the connection into the back of the camera. So I have great sunlight. (Open air chimney mount - 9 hours winter/15 hours summer sun). I want to use a single solar panel and follow your example with 2 Cam OGs. Thus a single panel - a small 12V (7.9AH) and the converter then powering 2 cams. Or can I have a single converter powering both cams? Less is more for me. So the cams need to stay alive 7x24> Wat do you recommend? We can speak via email if you wish.

When you say a converter, do you mean 12V to 110V inverter? If that is the case, most cheap inverters are extremely inefficient, upwards of 30%. But if you are talking about step down converters, I think you might need two for each camera. The weakest link is your battery, not enough storage capacity, 7.9 AH will be eaten in couple of hours by two cameras.
