Keep The Old App

Ack! Look what my unguarded click got me!

D’oh! Politics! This is one of the things I like about routinely installing uBlock Origin and Privacy Badger in my desktop browsers whenever I set one up.

I’d apologize, but I didn’t directly cause the ad.

I’m gonna go back to listening to some more Ben Folds Five and try (I swear!) to stop participating in topic derailment with questionably-scrupulous amphibians. :frog::roll_eyes::grin:

Can you elaborate? Did this occur during installation? When you opened it? While it was livestreaming? I didn’t think Google had released their review hold on the Android version yet. Was this the Beta that it happened with? Was it the beta through Google Play or the one they had people sideload? Does the phone turn on but just not boot up? Is there any LED’s flashing or anything? Do you mean the phone crashed and restarted or is totally unusable? What phone model was it? What OS version number? I’m wondering if it was space or RAM or Processor related. How old was your phone?

The refrain made me laugh… but it was a long wait! (Almost as long as it took Carver to bring it back on-topic! )

It’s not a funny song at all, but I understand your reaction in this context.

Railed?

At least someone around here is tryin’ to get 'er done!

@carverofchoice cribbed my notes. That’s exactly what I was gonna ask @ultra1genius when he responded to my on-topic reply to him.

Hello Carverofchoice. Thank you for making my point. You’re asking me to diagnose and debug this thing and I’m not interested. I’ve got other things to do. But since I started this, you deserve some type of response. Here is what happened and this is as far as I went: I wanted to look at my cameras. The Wyze App, which should be logged in on my phone, wasn’t logged in. There was a button that said Get Started (really?). Clicked that and it took me to the app store. I updated the App. Then spent a good 15 minutes trying to log in because I had to mess around with the 2FA (it didn’t seem to want to work - and no, I’m not going to diagnose that). Then I rebooted by phone and started the Wyze App. The App appeared to start with the splash screen, but then everything froze. No touch point and no buttons on the phone worked. I waited, just in case it was slow. Nothing. I rebooted the phone again. The phone worked again. But I don’t have time to mess around with the Wyze App software anymore. That’s where it stands.

As for the other people who want to know what “bricked” means. Look it up. Google it. The damn device acts like a brick, aka a paper weight. It doesn’t work. It’s KAPUT. Thank you for your interest.

I have a slightly different question. If I don’t like the new 3.0 app can’t I just uninstall it and install the old app? I always make a backup of important apps before I update them. Thank you for any info!

Who’s Chip?

:sunglasses:

If forced to guess, I’d say Chip is related to Skip (in the lower-right corner).

I though that was where you found the cackle recording?

In retrospect, looks like 2022 was the last time users were pushed to use a newer App. This discussion started in June of 2021.

When the world ends many people will still be using 2.5. I have no problem with that. It’s a check your watch not your calendar kind of thing. :hourglass_flowing_sand:

Steven,

I thought within the last six months they said something like ‘must upgrade to maintain full functionality with all devices because security fix’ or somesuch. My fuzzbrain may be misremembering, though. We try.

I had a similar thought a few days ago. You might be thinking of this:

Maybe that helps to unmisremember or nonmisremember or dismisremember your fuzzbrain.
