What’s your opinion on the new app, the new app causes me to work a lot harder and click on a lot more icons. I used to have all my shortcuts on the main screen. All my shortcuts have been removed now. I’m really hating hating this new update. Not sure whose bright idea it was too try and improve it.
Since you asked.
I find it the new app useful. I have zero issues. I can watch all eight of my cams live easily. I use v2, v3 and v4 cams. I did have some issues with the widgets, but the app is speedy and easy to use.
Welcome to the forum.
I’m not happy with the design of the new app. I have a more than a dozen cameras and various other devices. The live streaming on the favorites page bogs down my access to the cameras–it’s especially annoying if you’re network isn’t particularly fast. Also it takes too many steps to sleep the cameras that aren’t on your favorites list.
You can still have your shortcuts on the main favorites tab.
Go to the automation section and then click the star to the right of the shortcut you would like to add.
The shortcuts will appear there
I uninstalled it within minutes and went back to the older version. I want thumbnail pics of my cams, not just the name. The page with all the live feeds loading is ridiculous. I’m keeping the older version as long as I can or until they fix the new version
I put my v2s to sleep when it gets dark in my back yard with a daily schedule. Automation is nice.
At first I was excited about the new app, but after a few days of using it, I’m ready to return to the old one. As mentioned before, because of my limited wifi connection speed, all of my cams stay in a perpetual state of loading, thereby making all but the events function useless. I realize that this is not the fault of this company, but the lack of high speed Internet at my location. If it was available, I would have it. Meanwhile my desperately needed security cameras, provide much less security than they did before the change. Up until this, I’ve been a very satisfied customer… If there’s a fix for this, please let me know.
Can repeaters or a mesh network help?
Maybe post your upload and download speeds to compare with others.
I use 100 mbps down and 20 up with no apparent issues.
Things I hate about the new app.
- Cached picture gone.
- Defaults to Favorites Tab
- Auto-streaming on favorites tab
- Mixed shortcuts, cameras and groups on Favorites (no easy organization)
- Device list shows all devices even when in a group
- Plug groups on favorites activates all plugs unless you hit the tiny arrow
- BUGS BUGS BUGS
Device list refresh errors, you must exit program
imitating streaming is slower and eventually fails. 2.0 could stream for hours.
Outdoor battery cams fail to stream about 50% of the time - Since they adopted the tab format - Shortcuts / Cameras / Power / Home devices should in separate tabs.
Put your cameras in groups and put the groups on the Favorites tab, not the cameras. Then the live view for the cameras will only load once you open the group.
You can move them around easily, simply hold down on the thing you want to move and move it where you want it.
Are all your browser shortcuts in a single list? No sub folders? You can move them around you know…
No subfolders. My favorites page has 3 cams and 4 camera groups. I moved them around to be arranged the way I want them so when I open the app I see the cameras I am most interested in and then scroll to see the other stuff.
I only have 12 cameras so I’m not sure I would even use subfolders myself.
I have over 80 devices because I monitor multiple properties… I need things more organized than on a single page. Also, placing the shortcuts in with the cameras on the favorites page was just dumb. The app update has made my use of the app go from simple and straightforward to a big list I have to scroll through to find what I’m looking for.
The device list showing all devices, including groups, made my list 100 long.
The missing cache picture is another biggie.
I agree, Also, I cannot find out how to edit properties of individual cameras. The setup gear is missing.
I was just barely getting used to the v2.50 app and its features. I am fairly new to using more than 2 cameras. I currently have 8 cameras with 3 more I will be installing within the next month.
Version 4 cameras are the best so far. Easiest to install and connect.
Click on a camera in favorites or devices, the setup gear for that camera will be in the upper right corner.
I strongly dislike the new design on the wyze cam app. It’s horrible. The old app was very user friendly, this one you have to hit more buttons to get it to do what you needed to do. I’ve been on other forms and the census seems to be the same, no one likes the new app.
I like it. I am not no one.
I had just started using the old app, Both are confusing at first. I think that the new one will improve with revision in the works.
It would be nice to have some additional features, say turning of certain cameras when your phone is over a mile away from the house.
