What's your opinion on the new app. I don't like it

Already doable with location based rules.

Where do I find location triggers? I did not see them under Automatons…

Create new automation.

Using the newest update (3.?) with an iPhone, I have no issues with it. It functions, for me, pretty much like version 2.5. I realize everyone has different needs and opinions but all of the negative comments had me delaying to update until I accidentally clicked on ’Update All’. I currently have a mix of V3/V4 cams and a number of plugs and all seems to be functioning. The only complaint is not with the phone app but with the Wyze live web operation, but that’s for another day.

Hey Bob

Did you see much (persuasive) counter-argument to the negative posts, or did the black ones just blot out the :sun_with_face: ?

Hate it. ver 2.5 was simple, easier to use and had most of the functionality on one screen where I could see 6 or 7 cameras without scrolling AND easily turn them on or off - which many of us need to do. Far more efficient use of screenspace… And Yes, I know you can turn them off in the new app by going into each one or fiddling around w favourites (which apparently wont keep a custom sort), but thats cumbersome. However the absolute WORST new “feature” by far is the constant live streaming which I REALLY dont want on my very limited bandwidth. I’m staying on 2.5 on my Android devices at least until constant livestreaming becomes an option and preferably until less screenspace is used and with an easily accessible on/off button.

Doesnt suit my needs. Extremely disappointed with it…

Seems complaints have gone down in number. It seems to work fine for me, but I only have 8 cams.

Something is not working as expected then because custom sort is a thing and should remember your placements.

Add your cameras to groups and uncheck the favorite on these cameras. I have only my doorbell camera to stream from my favorites tab, then the rest of my cameras in groups and when I need to view them I click into either the inside group or the outside group to view.

Thank you Omgitstony… Appreciate your efforts in allaying my concerns and I will experiment more. However, I still find this new app overly kludgy and the new interface just doesnt bring me any improvements - quite the opposite in fact for me.

I’ll continue sticking w 2.5 for as long as I can - its simple, quick and I can see much more info from all my cams the second I open it - minimal scrolling and no waiting for streams to start, wasted data etc. unless I want them to.

I’m still keeping the older version.

I don’t know that the complaints have gone down. Their rating in the play store is still slowly dropping. I think here on the forums, people have stopped complaining some as it seems clear Wyze doesnt want to listen. There are a few simple modifications that would greatly help the 3.x app, that they just plain refuse to do. They seem like they would rather sink the ship then give a couple concessions for some reason.

I am seeing an increase in complaining about having to have Automatic Updates turned off on devices to be able to stay on App version 2.50.

I have had to update non-Wyze Apps one by one since mid July.

I don’t know what I am missing. I guess I am glad. I see absolutely no issues on a Galaxy S24, Galaxy S21, a Galaxy A9+tablet and even with my old Tab 3 tablet.

I haven’t used my ipad in a year or so, but Android works fine for me. I understand people can have problems with the new app, but I don’t see it myself. I know this doesn’t solve your problem. I just wish I knew why some work fine and some do not.

I wish we had a detailed diagnostic problem or anything that could find the answer.

I have Cam Unlimited but the latest Android app is not allowing me to add/remove my cameras from and to the Unlimited. If I go to Account > Services it’s just a button with “Cam Unlimited - Annual” and does nothing. Manage Subscription doesn’t work in the app, asks me to go to website. Why is this happening? Where are my settings?

A few cameras just change their status to “turn off” randomly. I have to click the power icon to turn them on.

Also, my notifications are no longer grouping. I get hundreds of separate Wyze notifications which i have to swipe one by one to remove, unless i “clear all” but it also removes all other notifications from other apps.

I don’t hate App 3.xx, I just prefer the App 2.50 Home Page. I have five v3 cameras and like to see a thumbnail of all five without having to scroll.

On App 2.50 I can see all five On/Off buttons without having to scroll

If Wyze forces users off of 2.50, I can live with it but prefer to stay on 2.50 as long as possible.

My opinion is based on watching this video of App 3.0.

StevenA, I couldn’t agree more, except to add that the auto live streaming is extremely wasteful and “laggy” when you have limited bandwidth and data as I do (where I have 7 cams monitoring a remote property that relies on a 4G cell modem)

I have no idea why designers feel the need to waste tons of available screenspace and force people to scroll, scroll, scroll… Seems to happen everywhere (look at the way smart TV apps have gone - most now show only 3 or 4 viewing “thumbnails” on 45”+ screens). I find all this massively inefficient and annoying.

It must just be the current UX/design fad… Wish it would go away!

So on most of my devices I have auto update disabled on Wyze. Then in the play store for the list of apps, I can click Update All. It will pop up a message that says Auto Update has been disabled for this app (Wyze). I click skip, and it won’t update Wyze, but will update all the other apps. This way I don’t have to update each app manually.

This has been my biggest gripe from the beginning. They clearly could make it an option, as it is for the battery cameras. So why not make it an option for all cameras. I’m not a fan of the interface, but I could get over it, and would use if it wasn’t trying to live stream everything.
