FYI multiple brand new Wyze Cam Pan V3s (Wyze replaced one and that doesn’t work either) totally going dead. Have to manually unplug the power and reboot. I have multiple locations with these new Cam Pan V3s having same issue (totally unique ISPs / networks + all other Wyze cams working normally - So I know it’s something pertaining Pan V3 firmware).
Hello, hello!
We’re here for another round of Fix-It Friday! Thanks for being here. We have a bunch of topics for today so let’s get started:
Discord - Special characters not allowed in Wyze Mesh Router Pro SSID or password
We’re going to remove this from the update list but we did hear a question about why apostrophes specifically are not valid characters for the SSID and password. This is due to how our code is designed and we currently don’t have plans to adjust the code.
Reddit - Wyze Cam v3 Pro and Wyze Cam Pan v3 30-second forward and back Playback buttons skip random hours
No further updates here yet. We have confirmed a fix for this issue and we’re working on adding it to the 2.41 app. We’ll keep you posted as we progress.
Core - Wyze Cam Pan v3 detection zones not working
We spoke with the person who submitted this and they also think this is related to the motor drift issue. We have an improvement in beta now but we’re still collecting more data to find the optimal tolerance level for the devices. Once we have that sorted out, we’ll release the firmware to the public. We’re also working on new processes in manufacturing to prevent this problem from occurring for future cameras. We’ll keep you updated about the beta progress.
Forum - Alexa Person Detection Triggers on some Wyze Cam v3s with Cam Plus Lite have disappeared for new activations for some users. They are still present for some people or those who previously set them up
We’re still looking into this from our side! Stay tuned!
- Let’s Take a Look at Some Previous Submissions -
Reddit - Event recordings are skipping/stuttering
Our new round of beta has been released! If you’re a beta tester, please check it out and give us feedback!
Discord - Wyze Cam v3 Pro spotlight will not turn off after first motion detection at night. Resetting fixes it but becomes an issue again about a month later
No further update on this one this week. We’d like to have more logs from people that have set up Wyze Rules to turn on the spotlight for X minutes instead of just to turn them on, if you don’t mind! Here are the log instructions:
Recreate the issue. Then in the Wyze app, go to Account > Wyze Support > Submit a Log. Select your device from the dropdown menu. Then fill in the description box with the date, time, and time zone of the most recent time you noticed this issue and a description of what’s happening. Make sure the Send Logs option is selected and then submit your log. When you have the log number, please post it in the Fix-It Friday topic so we can get it to the right folks.
Reddit - Wyze Cam Pan v3 does not return to set home position
The beta still looks promising but we’re still collecting more data to find the optimal tolerance level for the devices. Once we have that sorted out, we’ll release the firmware to the public. We’re also working on new processes in manufacturing to prevent this problem from occurring for future cameras. We’ll keep the updates coming!
Core - Playback stutters when selected for the first few seconds of Playback from the microSD card
We have verified that this issue is fixed on future firmware. We’re currently testing what we hope will be the final round for the build in beta. This fix is on the firmware after the upcoming release.
Core - Cameras appear offline in the app, though they are online and viewable
No further updates on this one yet. Here’s the info from before: We’ve gone through all the submitted logs! Some of them don’t have information because the log was created after the camera was power cycled or rebooted. But we did find that all the useful logs showed that the firmware keeps trying to reconnect IoT but cannot get the IP address and cannot connect to the internet.
If your internet connection was solid at the time, we think that there was probably a crash on the Wi-Fi driver not related to the firmware. We’re working on adding a health check function to recover devices in similar states. The cloud side is already in place and next we’ll work on firmware.
Forum - Wyze Cam v3 microSD card Playback is skipping the first minute of every hour (excluding midnight)
We don’t have a new update for this yet because the fix is moved into the firmware build following the one currently in beta.
- Updates For Dormant Topics -
The Alexa Routines trigger "IF clear for ‘X’ time” wasn’t executing when using a Wyze Sense Hub and a Wyze Sense v2 Motion Sensor
This isn’t something we’re able to replicate anymore. Is this still a problem for people? We’ll leave this open for a bit to see if anyone is still experiencing this problem. If we don’t hear back, we’ll close it. We have reason to believe that this has been addressed already.
Slow Alexa announcements of Person Detection from outdoor cameras
Is this still a problem for anyone? If so, how long does it take for an announcement to happen after the Event Video is triggered? This will be removed from the update list if we don’t hear back from folks within a couple of weeks.
Greater control over marketing popups in the Wyze app
No further update for this one yet. We’re working on a toggle for improving control over marketing messages in the Wyze app. We’re also working on auditing what we send and when as well as a duplicate data cleanup initiative that will help ensure that messages sent to folks are more relevant to them. We’ll provide more information as we move forward.
Wyze Cam Pan v2 siren not able to be selected as an action in Rules when it was previously available
Is this still a problem for folks? We’re looking into it but could use some confirmation from all of you. If we don’t hear back from this in a couple of weeks, we’ll take it off of the update list.
Moving object detection
We are testing out a prototype. It’s possible that this will be released to cameras in the future but we can’t promise it yet. We need to see how it performs first. We’re going to remove this from the update list for now since folks have had a chance to see it and we don’t expect updates for this one for a while.
Wyze Sense Hub Events not showing the correct time
No further updates on this one yet! We are aiming to work on the Wyze Sense Hub time sync in the next firmware release but this isn’t final yet. We’re aligning on a solution and will provide updates when we have them.
Thanks for your time! We’ll see you next time for Fix-It Friday!
With due respect that is a terrible position for them to take. (Not my issue, but still.)
Thank you for the running updates.
Hi, folks!
We hope you had a great week! We’re here to wrap things up with our next round of Fix-It Friday updates. Here’s what we have for you today:
Forum - Alexa Person Detection Triggers on some Wyze Cam v3s with Cam Plus Lite have disappeared for new activations for some users. They are still present for some people or those who previously set them up
This one should now be resolved! We found the issue with the Alexa team. However, you’ll need to discover the device again to refresh it. If you have trouble with this after following these instructions, please let us know! Otherwise, we’ll be removing it from our update list next week.
Reddit - Wyze Cam v3 Pro and Wyze Cam Pan v3 30-second forward and back Playback buttons skip random hours
No further updates here yet. We have confirmed a fix for this issue and we’re working on adding it to the 2.41 app which will be reaching beta next week or soon after. We’ll keep you posted as we progress.
Core - Wyze Cam Pan v3 detection zones not working
The update that addresses the motor issue is still in development. We’ll be hearing more from the engineers soon and will keep you posted.
- Let’s Take a Look at Some Previous Submissions -
Forum - Wyze Cam v3 microSD card Playback is skipping the first minute of every hour (excluding midnight)
This just went into beta! If you’re a beta tester, please try out the new firmware and give us feedback about it.
Core - Playback stutters when selected for the first few seconds of Playback from the microSD card
This is also on the firmware that just went into beta testing! Beta folks, please put it through its paces and let us know how the new build performs.
Reddit - Event recordings are skipping/stuttering
We just started the public release for the firmware that addresses this issue this week. If you don’t have the .4054 firmware version yet, sit tight! We expect to finish releasing it to everyone next week.
Discord - Wyze Cam v3 Pro spotlight will not turn off after first motion detection at night. Resetting fixes it but becomes an issue again about a month later
We got a new log for this! Thanks for the help! If anyone else is experiencing this problem, please consider providing a log for us. We’d like to have more logs from people that have set up Wyze Rules to turn on the spotlight for X minutes instead of just to turn them on, if you don’t mind! Here are the log instructions:

Reddit - Wyze Cam Pan v3 does not return to set home position
We’re still working on developing a new firmware build that addresses the motor issue. We’re expecting to hear more from the engineers about this issue shortly and will provide more information to you when we can.
Core - Cameras appear offline in the app, though they are online and viewable
We have the design ready for the health checker that will help with this issue. It won’t be in the next release but we have it in the pipeline for a future firmware release.

Thanks for joining us! We’ll be back next week with your Fix-It Friday Follow-up!
Calling @Customer !!! Please verify this for us buddy.
That was a reasonably fast resolution from Alexa (once officially reported) considering how long it took some of the previous Alexa bugs to get resolved. I am kind of excited we got this one addressed once it finally got on the Fix-it-Friday radar.
Thank you @WyzeJasonJ and Wyze developer team! And even more so thank you @carverofchoice for transferring my multiple complaints into an “actionable” request in this Friday thread whereas I had had no faith in the process. Great work folks!
This was not true for me. I just visited Cameras in the Alexa app and the same long-suffering test V3 now shows a working “Person Detection Notifications” toggle under settings. (Edit: this camera has been online and unused throughout, since my last round of tests a month or two ago.) Hurray!
This is is going to solve lot of weird and frustrating integration issues for users. For me it means I can finally replace my trusty main front facing V2 cameras with these nifty night vision V3s (assuming my long power cables don’t bite me).
Thank you all again.
Woo hoo! We have a new FIF convert guys!
Welcome to the cult…er, I mean club! CLUB! = Fix-it-Friday thankfuls CLUB.
Always good to see another satisfied Customer (pun 100% intended).
Now we just need to figure out a new bug to submit for April 7th.
Definitely. It may be imperfect but it’s clear this Friday mechanism is an effective and “high profile” way to raise and resolve issues with Wyze developers. Good stuff, Wyze.
Thanks @carverofchoice.
TLDR; I still have three V2 cams that show “Person detection is currently unavailable. Please check your Wyze app to learn more.”.
I’ve never had an issue with PD in Alexa with V3 cameras. I have three. Person announcement has always shown as available.
I re-discovered Wyze to Alexa. In my case I had no choice. When I tried to view a Wyze cam Alexa went to discovering Wyze.
I had previously set up routines for a couple of V2 cams to announce “Someone is at the” [Back Door] or [Garage]. These would still work sporadically but showed Person Detection as disabled and would not allow me to change the announcement in the routine.
Person Detection is working now for these two cameras and a couple other V2 cams that previously didn’t work. I still have three V2 cams that don’t have PD, I removed and re-added these cameras to Alexa. They still show “Person detection is currently unavailable. Please check your Wyze app to learn more.”.
Person Detection is enabled in Wyze, through Cam Plus Lite, for all of my cameras.
Just to follow up. I did some checking in the Wyze app.
The Notification settings are inconsistent.
I am attaching screenshots of the Notification settings on the same camera 4 minutes apart. Notice the difference in Motion Event options.
Opening Notification settings also takes 20-30 seconds.
Edit: This seems to be cured by rebooting an Access Point in my garage.
or it was linked to the Wyze (not considered an outage) outage.
v2s, camplus lite and similar…
Thanks @peepeep
Just to clarify, @peepeep are you saying that you are also not seeing person detection available with Cam Plus Lite on some of your V2’s? And is that just on the Wyze app, or have you also looked at Alexa too?
Does rebooting your router &/or camera make any change?
Hi Carver
v2s. Cam Plus Lite. Just Wyze app, no Alexa.
I got the impression Wyze may have been implementing changes to some dynamic modules of the interface while I was examining the settings of the v2 cams.
In some cases, it made it appear that PD was toggled off, though it was still operating.
In other cases, PD was actually disabled and the location to toggle it back on had changed.
Ultimately, the interface became consistent and PD on all cams was operational.
I definitely rebooted the cams, don’t think that changed the conditions described.
I don’t think I rebooted the router.
Thanks. I wanted to have those clarifications for Wyze to know what potential related issues may be remaining.
@peepeep
I am curious, the cameras you showed the ‘Device Notification’ images for, what firmware is each one of those on?
Hey Jason
The middle and right-hand images are after updating to 4.9.9.1851.
The middle had been updated from 4.9.8.501.
The right-hand had been updated from 4.9.8.1002.
Both images are from the same camera, 4 minutes apart.
V2 cam, Firmware version: 4.9.9.1851
Our team tried to reproduce this and could not, we reached out to the Alexa team and they said it should work, just in case the Alexa team did update something again could you try relinking the Wyze skill to Alexa and see if it is working? If not I will see if they need further info from you.
Thanks for following up Jason.
I have re-linked the Wyze skill to Alexa.
That fixed one of them. Still have one V2 showing the “Person detection is currently unavailable. Please check your Wyze app to learn more.” message.
I checked my Wyze app. I did not learn more.
I removed the camera from Alexa and had it re-discovered. Still not working.
I’ll experiment a bit more. It’s not a big deal to me, just mentioned it in case other’s have the same issue.
Statements like this give me a chuckle.
I agree, it should work.
