Android and yes I figured it out. I actually was just wanting an audible alert with a voice stating “someone’s at your front door”. I crafted a work around and hope that Wyze will take note of this idea from their competitor because it is highly invaluable to actually hear the voice which easily differentiates between other (text, news, email) notification sounds. My mom has a ring account so I went into ring tone setting on the RING app and I recorded the audio stating the desired message, then I saved on my device, went into device settings, the Wyze notification settings and instead of selecting factory Android tones I selected my RING recorded message. So basically I get the benefit of RING’s “someone’s at your front door” or “motion detected in your front yard”, etc. on my device for my Wyze account notifications. MUCH IMPROVED! I don’t miss a notification now…well that’s as long as the push notifications don’t keep automatically disabling on their own within the WYZE app, a story for another time on that last bit lol

This exact issue is why I joined the forums.
Android phone:
All three notification types use only the “default” notification sound.
All three have the option to change the sound, but this does nothing, even in developer mode. They remain set to default and will not change.
I noticed this thread is from 2018. Being 2024, is this still being worked on for Android phones?
What type of phone do you have? And what, exactly, are you trying to accomplish? My wyze notifications are set to a bird chirping, not the default sound.
Type: Schok Volt SV55
I wanted to change the sound a camera makes when it notifies me of movement.
Under Notifications:
WyzeMessage ~15 per day
WyzeMessage
General ~1 per week
All of them have been changed to a sound other than default, but all of them still say default and will not change.
There are a couple of threads that go into details how to use “Macro Droid” to do what you are wanting to achieve. Do a search for “Macro Droid” and search through the threads that show up. Or simply wait for Wyze to implement that feature, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.
I’m pretty sure Schok Volt phones run the scaled down version of Android (Go Edition). If that is what is loaded on your phone, the operating system intentionally disables changes to system-defined notifications, meaning you can’t change from system defaults. Go Edition also isn’t a Wyze-supported operating system.
All info on the phone says Android 11. It doesn’t have anything that mentions a Go edition, but that would make sense.
I’ll look into the macro. Thank you guys for the info!
Sorry for the late reply, but if you need any assistance with Macrodroid, reach out and I may be able to assist. I’ve been a macrodroid user for years. ![]()
Thank you! I should be able to get it going. For now I just changed my default notification sound to something less annoying than a Diablo 2 flayer attacking. ![]()

Reinstate Custom Notification Sounds
You BROKE this standard APP feature in your latest bug fix. PLEASE fix ASAP. I used a custom sound of a Camera Shutter, your three Wyze sounds are not very good.
I am confused, the Wyze app has 3 sounds + the Default sound. In Android, you can go to the notification, select the one for default sound and then select your own sound.
This allows you to select any sound for your Wyze Notifications. This option is not available on iOS as Apple removed that feature sometime back
Does this provide what you are looking for?
On some Androids (including mine and MovieNut’s), the option to select a customized notification sound no longer exists. Please refer to forum conversation located here: Wyze Camera notification sound
So far, it seems to me to be random with other users running same versions of the app and Android, but different setting options.
Thanks for posting that, I believe I know what the issue is and it is not Wyze. Android introduced a Notification Category so individuals could standardize things over all. you need make sure the setting for Manage Notification categories for each app is selected. The image below is from my Samsung device, not sure if it is named the same on all Android device. Once you toggle this on, you will be able to set your own notifications
Yes, I forgot about that setting. I turned it on when I learned about it on my S24, but forgot to do the same on my S21. I toggled the setting on/off on my S24 so now I have three Wyse Messages. Only saw two on my S21.
I watch loads of videos on these Samsung phones in order to use them to their fullest. Throw on Good Lock in the mix and there is too much to remember. I felt like writing a book, but it would soon be outdated. I thought this new method came out with Android 14 and oui 6.1 and.
Thanks for solving the mystery.
