Different Alert Sound for Wyze Notifications

So I guess there are no third-party options for iOS for Wyze sound notifications? And to think I changed from Samsung just because I got a free iPhone. I may have to change back. Thanks.

It will come – just wait.

It’s here! The first update to let you choose the OS default or the Wyze default!

Personally I like the new sound in the iOS app.
Nothing against a customizable alert sound option, but not if the app will grow with another few hundred MB to support it.

Yeah, I will leave the new sound too. If Wyze adds a shorter option in the future, I will switch to the shorter option.

A few hundred MB?! Yikes. I can’t imagine they’d be storing chimes as .wav or AIFF (ie: uncompressed) and even if they did, 100MB would be nearly 10 minutes worth of uncompressed CD quality sound.

A 2-second file like this chime will only take up roughly 352.8 kilobytes (344.53 kibibytes) at the most even if it was uncompressed, and WAY, WAY less when compressed into something like MP3, AAC, etc. which it almost certainly is. It’s basically nothing. They would seriously have to add THOUSANDS of chime sound file options to get up to 100MB or more for this project.

And the code to choose the chime will also be in the range of kilobytes or less.

All together I would be fairly surprised if all the sound change stuff totaled more than insignificant fractions of a Megabyte.I think a handful of options would be great, and they could probably still keep it all down in the KB range.

I was trying to be facetious - but a bit serious as well, as we know any new feature will add code. Often when added ā€˜ad hoc’ w/o proper planning, apps tend to balloon in size w/o offering that much extra in terms of functionality.

But I really enjoy the new alert sound. Different and distinctive.

Lol. That’s probably logs, which Wyze is infamous for.

Finally! Thanks for that. I love knowing when too pay attention too

Hello, I was enjoying the new default sound but I lost it today. I don’t know what happened and I did not change the sound in the system settings.

Is there a way to download it to our phone?

Android …just updated the app and now can’t put my own sound for the camera notifications alert. I don’t see any of those options in the my system notifications setting. I was able to do it with a relatively new version.

 Hi, so sorry I know this is a really old thread. I was always able to add a custom sound (a real loud countdown type) to alert of person setting off my camera as if I am in a noisy environment it should be super loud. On my Android operating system I was always able to just to to settings-notifications-Apps-Wyze and able to change it there to the custom sound. I just updated the app to the newest version and now that option is not there anymore. I just see toggle for on off and icon badge toggle. Nothing else. I even went to apk mirror and downloaded and installed a version from Jan 2023 and it still didn’t let me have that option. I didn’t think the version I was using was older than that and I have no idea when the change happened. I do see the option of the three sounds in the app itself but none are loud and noticeable enough. I don’t want to have to download an additional app to do this as my phone internal storage is to the maximum. THANK YOU

I see in another thread that you figured it out:

Glad you got it resolved. :+1:

Yes thanks. I would never think I would have to trigger the notification prior to be able to adjust the settings. It also seems the latest update resolved the 01 error (I think) which was the initial reason I updated .

Instead of just a tone/jingle notification it would be even more efficient and distinguishable if the notification was a verbal notification! For example, RING camera devices have the option to use an audible alert that states ā€œThere is someone at your front doorā€ or ā€œThere is motion at your garage cameraā€. Thereby you can #1 hear clearly you have a notification (and not easily miss a subtle jingle) #2 know which camera to review instantly if you have multiple cameras (as it specified which camera) #3 know instantly which type of motion is detected.
This feature ALONE, has me considering switching to Ring. I hate to have to disassemble my new Wyze doorbell cam pro, and go through the hassle of returning…but if I am missing crucial alerts due to not hearing them, what’s the point of the camera anyway?

Are you on android or iPhone? On android you can pick any sound you want.

I can’t find separate individual camera notifications in android, is this a new feature?

Last I checked there was no individual alert for individual cameras. You can change the over all alert in android but you cannot have a different notification for each camera unless you use a 3rd party app like MacroDroid.

There is no individual notification per device. But you can change the notification sound to anything you want.
