I for one say thank you! It’s taken years and it’s not quite what has been asked for totally, but it does help greatly! The tone is not that bad……livable and better than no distinct tone at all! (Iphone) Hopefully this is a first step in bringing the ability to set different tones to different Wyze items.
I’d be willing to bet that Wyze will now mark this thread as “Resolved.” But let’s be clear, Wyze. It is anything but resolved. We asked for the ability to assign unique from a variety of alert tones on a device by device basis, not a single alert tone to all devices. Worse yet you gave us a goofy little 5 note ditty that doesn’t sound anything like an ALERT. So, yeah, 5 years and that’s all you could come up with? Not impressed. (iOS user here, so please no one comment and suggest I install a third-party app).
Sorry, no more bets as the event has concluded. This is a Wishlist thread, it doesn’t get a Resolved tag. It was tagged Wishes Granted two days ago.
Appreciate your opinion scoopdms. I too appreciate a different noise. But as NRHTX points out, most all iOS apps allow you to select a sound, not just turn a sound on and off in its notifications, sounds & haptics settings. This is not a limitation of Apple, it is a decision made in Wyze.
Furthermore, as pointed out before, in Ring, they allow you within the ring app (not iOS settings, but the actual Ring app itself on the phone) from a long list of sounds for their devices. So it isn’t that the ability to change the sound to whatever a user wants it to be is impossible to do, it is just that Wyze has chosen NOT to support this capability as this time.
Why so many are upset are because 1.) They didn’t know they’d be only change the alert sound; 2.) they had no say in what the alert sound would be; 3.) they have no way to change the alert sound, which is what people want; 4.) they are angry that after looking into both the Wyze app and iOS settings they are still not finding a way to change the sound despite being led to believe that this feature had been implemented; 5.) there is no way to roll back to the old sound, which was just the iOS system sound – the same sound you got when you received a text message on iOS.
You may be thinking that what is the big deal about the sounds being the same across all apps. Well, I like to know when I get a message on WhatsApp vs. iMessage for example. Or when someone is calling me who is an immediate family member vs. someone who is not. These basic capabilities to change sounds have been part of the Apple ecosystem since 1977, and part of the iPhone since it originally came out. Having someone develop and app that first doesn’t allow this level of customization, then being told for years they were working on making the change, then releasing a change that seems for many to be worse than the prior version makes them upset.
Many apple users have been on them since they were young or in college or could afford an iOS device. They love them. They are integrated very well with one another. They are secure. They are reliable. They have no interest in switching to an Android device. They are willing to pay more for a premium offering from what they perceive as a premium company. The value comes from the tight ecosystem. So to have an app developer get something into the apple store that does what is perceived as less than their expectations, aka ‘minimum viable product’, it causes a bit of frustrations.
Hopefully this helps explain some of the rage you see in this thread.
@WorldwideDave
Your comment is completely spot on - Thank you.
@WyzeTeam
DO BETTER! We’ve waited a long time for this functionality. If Ring can do it, why can’t you?
+1 for the hatred of the new alert sound. It’s simply too long. A fraction of a second longer is a long time when you’re getting a metric bajillion alerts a day.
I get it. I paid $30 for a camera (okay, 15 cameras). I cannot overly complain about the camera, but the fact I’m being prescribed to this annoying little ditty is too much.
Please change this BS.

As I said, hopefully this is a start and Wyze will get multi sound alerts at some point. I am happy there is finally at least some movement on this request.
Is this really a start. Android users have always had the ability to change the general notification alert for sound in the Wyze app. Not sure how this even became a request. Everyone has been asking for a per device sound not a global sound. We already had that. Then they totally screwed up the Apple users. Maybe there is a language barrier.
For android users, the instructions for changing the sound were posted over three days ago, and if you are like me, you have to scroll back through 50 messages. Again, this is for Android only.
- Long press the Wyze App Icon Button
- Select App Info
- Select Notifications
- Select “Notification Categories” (On my phone at least)
- Tap the “WyzeMessage” words. Not the “On/Off” slider. (there may be multiple, repeat for each)
- Expand Advanced Menu (Not on my phone, possibly on others)
- Select Sound
- Choose the sound you want.
Alternatively, you can also do this thru the main settings menu:
- Launch the Settings app and tap Apps.
- Select the app you want to change a notification sound for: Wyze
- Tap Notifications.
- Select “Notification Categories” (On my phone at least)
- Tap the “WyzeMessage” words. Not the “On/Off” slider. Repeat if there are multiple instances.
- Tap Sound. It may be in Advanced.
- Select your desired sound.
Both my wife and I had been confused by the “Notification Categories” option. There is no indication on the page that I should click on the “WyzeMessage” words/text. If you go to that page, it looks like you only have the option to turn them on or off, not to change the sound.
Anyway, I hope this helps others. The more times the correct instructions are put in here, the easier it will be for people to fine them.
I did confirm that in Android, the notification channel is still a single channel. Just has the Woody the Woodpecker tone assigned. So the wish of changing per device or device type is for sure not granted.
Thank you kindly.
I am thrilled that Wyze finally made a different notification sound so that it stands out from the rest of the alerts on the phone. But I hate the new sound with a passion. It is beyond annoying. I own about 30 Wyze products and am now forced to turn the sound off in the app, rendering all the alerts useless for actually alerting me. That’s how much I cannot stand the new sound. I am begging you to provide a different sound for the iOS app.
For people who wish device-specific notification sound customization, or iOS users who want an option to choose notification sound, let’s vote here:
AN UPDATE IS IN THE WORKS:
Wyze has heard your feedback and they say they are working on a customized solution to meet the needs of those who want it back the way it was, and those who still want to keep it with the new sound, and hopefully eventually those who just want to pick an entirely different sound option. ![]()
I thought some of you would appreciate me sharing that update I just saw.
…and I do! THANK YOU. Any idea what the time frame might be?
Yeah! That will be awesome. BIG Thanks to the Development Team for listening!
No time frame stated anywhere yet. If I see another public update on it anywhere I will pass it on.
I imagine it will go into beta testing first, but you never know. Either way, it’s good to hear an improvement for this seems to be getting prioritized. ![]()
Saw the post…something about our users didn’t like the change they did.
Glad they are listening…
