All of my V3 CAM PLUS cameras have stuttering event playback when not recording sound

Very weird situation. I have four V3 cams on Cam Plus and do not have the stuttering issue day or night. I am using iOS devices.

None of my V2 cameras do the stuttering nor my two Video Doorbell V1, nor the Video Doorbell Pro, it is just V3 and V3 Pros. All my cameras are on Cam+ Unlimited, I don’t have any that are not, so I cannot test that. I turn the “record sound” off on all of them due to state law.

Do you have the option for recording sound set to not record sound? That’s what enables the video stutter for me and for known1.

I have my cams inside facing outside, so recording sound would be silly.

All my cams are outdoors .

I have yet to notice anyone with an iOS device reporting the stuttering issue. Maybe we are limiting things down that much more?

Actually, he indicated he doesn’t have record sound turned off, so I don’t think iOS has anything to do with it.

Accidentally selected porch twice.

@Known1
When you send these logs in are you attaching a video to them? Just curious so I can let them know when I give them the logs.

I did turn record sound off for 2 days and got a few hundred all motion events even though the cam was set for smart detections only. None of the hundreds of recorded events had any stutter in them. I turned the sound back on yesterday and now I just have smart detection events. ?

@WyzeJasonJ
No sir, but I am attaching a screen shot of the setting that causes the stutter. I am also tagging you as the WYZE support person on the logs. I just started with that yesterday though.

I did share a video further up in this thread though. Maybe send them that link. EVERY video has the same stuttering problem.

Known1

That sounds like a completely different bug that is likely worthy of its own thread. Although it is interesting that the bug is apparently caused by the same setting.

I only turned the sound recording off on that V3 because it is one that has that annoying clicking, knocking , static, and other strange sounds when recording or in live view and it ruined my good possum video. :grin:
My other three V3 cams do not have that issue

@WyzeJasonJ

Just to clarify a couple of points that may help the engineers. It is the events in the cloud that have the stutter. If I download the cloud event to my phone, the video plays back fine from my phone’s storage. If I watch the video from uSD it plays back fine. If I download the same period of time from the uSD, it plays back just fine. The issue is only when playing back the events stored in the WYZE cloud when the setting is as discussed. Also, only for CAM PLUS cameras. I hope that makes sense and please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Do you need me to keep uploading these logs every day? Is it making a difference or am I just wasting my time?

I suspect but can’t prove that the bigger capacity cards are slower so I try to use smaller capacity cards now. I use endurance type cards and I only use event-only recording.

@jackswillaw welcome to the WYZE forum but the issue here has nothing to do with the SD cards, it is related to playing back cam plus event videos from the events page. The OP said that playback from the SD card is just fine and if the event is downloaded to the phone it plays just fine. Very weird situation.
I personally do not have that stuttering issue, I am using iOS . I also use high endurance cards 128 GB and 256GB that record continuous and have had no issues with those either.

I actually just came to let you know I believe we have enough logs right now. They did find something in the logs that did help them find where some of the packet loss is happening, they are currently trying to fix that. Then we can go through the process of seeing if it fixes it and if not getting more logs.

Short answer, your logs did help but you can stop them for a bit.

Now that is some good news WyzeJasonJ!
:grinning:

I do NOT have packet loss to my PC when testing with Cloudflare,

but… there may be some coming on the 2.4ghz Wi-Fi side, so I will check that too.

1st run on 2.4 ghz side
No packet loss, latency 30 ms, Jitter 38.5 ms
31 Mbps downstream and 11.2 Mbps upstream
2nd run on 2.4 ghz side
No Packet Loss, Latency 22.5 ms, Jitter 13.5 ms
21.3 Mbps downstream and 13 Mbps upstream

I just went back to verify exactly what they said and it wasn’t packet loss, it was frame loss, and the loss is happening in the app they believe. The good part is that they have found something and now just need to fix it.

All great news and thanks for the updates!
