I have seen some of you report issues with the Wyze Video Doorbell v2. I am creating this post to try to gather these issues in one place. Please let me know what issues you are having with the Wyze Video Doorbell v2, but let’s please focus this post on just this product. If this goes well I will do the same thing with other products.
On the latest version 4.51.2.1041 my Wyze Video Doorbell v2:
Takes 20 minutes to reconnect on it’s own - The Wyze Video Doorbell v2 goes offline almost daily or every other day. It does reconnect but takes 20 mins to reconnect.
Every once in a while when it goes offline it does not reconnect and needs to be power cycled for it to get back online.
Thank you for starting this topic! As cool as Duo Cam Doorbell is, Video Doorbell v2 is still one of my favorite products to use and assist others in troubleshooting.
On 4.51.2.1041 and unit randomly drops off wifi. It is still recording events to the SD card. If I ring the doorbell it re-connects. this is really strange.
I have since moved back to my old doorbell. This has been too unreliable. 16v 20va brand new transformer. I really wanted to like it.
My wishes for v3:
The doorbell should lock on to the mount with a release pin, not just slide on/off.
The SD card slot should be hidden in the back (which would be locked) not on the side where anyone can remove it.
Add a capacitor or a larger one to maintain stable power from the doorbell transformer.
My wyze doorbell v2 does not record events at all. It also stopped doing any recordings and is now only able to do live view which is extremely frustrating and makes the v2 doorbell useless. Restarting doesnt help, hopefully you can help!
Hi Jason, the Alexa chime integration seems to be the biggest problem with the V2 in it’s current state. Does your team have any insight on that issue?
I just got my v2 a few days ago and I have exatcly the same issues as you, same firmware 4.51.2.1041.
I have a tplink Eap670 access point running the 2.4GHz band SSID. My network runs everything flawlessly, transformer 16V 37VA. Its the v2 doorbell thats the issue.
Kinda dusappointed tbh. Ill give it a few more days but at this rate itll be going back.
@WyzeJasonJ we were rocking and rolling for a good couple of months. Looks like 1041 also tanked my DB2.
It went off line while I was on vacation. I briefly killed the power to it and it came back online within the next 24 hours. (I didn’t want to do the whole reset device because it’s way too cold outside). Once it came back online it stayed online for a few days and then went back offline.
I need to kill power to it again and hope it rejoins without having to do the reset.
Once I get home and kill the power, do you want me to send you logs? Do you still have the MAC? I’m game for whatever if it helps resolve the new issue.
Greetings @jaehlee00 & @L1qu1d_a55et Welcome to the Wyze Community forum.
Welcome back @ovalseven Just noticed your posts. Here is a test you may perform to help isolate one possible problem.
My doorbell stopped recording around Dec. 16, 2024. Pressing the doorbell button would ring the chime but no recording. Would see an error message indicating weak signal. Moving the units within feet of each other did not resolve this issue. I also tried installing the doorbell again with no change.
Checked my router log and found the firewall was blocking UDP port 8000. eg
2024 Dec nn 14:41:00 [FVSnnn] [kernel] LOG_PACKET[DROP] IN=LAN OUT=WAN SRC=nn.nn.nn.nn DST=35.81.136.54 PROTO=UDP SPT=51850 DPT=8000*
My suggestion is to temporally disable your router firewall, see if this resolves doorbell video problem. Naturally, enable your firewall after this test. If this works, enable that port or loosen router’s security settings. If not, try installing the doorbell on a friend’s network using a different ISP and router.
Below is a link for ports necessary for Wyze products. These ports are normally open on routers so no action needed. UDP port 8000 is defined as: “Internet radio streams”. (List updated 3 years ago.)
Yes! I’ve had the doorbell installed for 3 years w/no problem. Don’t know why video port changed last month. Looking back on my install notes, these are other ports used by the doorbell:
TCP 28800 Wyze Dbrl Live Live Stream TCP/UDP
TCP 20083 Wyze Dbrl Strm1 Stream Data TCP/UDP
TCP 28003 Wyze Dbrl Strm2 Stream Data TCP/UDP
TCP 28083 Wyze Dbrl Strm3 Stream Data TCP/UDP
TCP 20253 Wyze Dbrl Strm4 Stream Data TCP/UDP
TCP 23253 Wyze Dbrl Strm5 Stream Data TCP/UDP
aside: pvols1979 also noted other UDP connections w/CAM OG
