Wyze Video Doorbell v2 Issue Collection

Hello everyone,

I have seen some of you report issues with the Wyze Video Doorbell v2. I am creating this post to try to gather these issues in one place. Please let me know what issues you are having with the Wyze Video Doorbell v2, but let’s please focus this post on just this product. If this goes well I will do the same thing with other products.

Thank you!

On the latest version 4.51.2.1041 my Wyze Video Doorbell v2:

  • Takes 20 minutes to reconnect on it’s own - The Wyze Video Doorbell v2 goes offline almost daily or every other day. It does reconnect but takes 20 mins to reconnect.
  • Every once in a while when it goes offline it does not reconnect and needs to be power cycled for it to get back online.

A couple of things come to mind:

  1. There are several topics related to inconsistent results with the Alexa integration, including Doorbell V2 / Camera and door ring not working in Alexa and Wyze Doorbell V2 - Alexa trigger doorbell press only appears after multiple presses. I don’t know exactly where the integration fails (it feels like it’s on Alexa’s side, because I don’t see the doorbell button press showing up in the Routine history), so even if this isn’t exactly Wyze’s issue to fix, then I wonder if Wyze has contacts at Amazon they could tag to work on this.
  2. Since Chime Controller is recommended for installation of Duo Cam Doorbell and users have reported wanting to obtain replacement Chime Controllers, I still don’t understand why it’s available for separate purchase only in the app and not on Wyze’s Web site.

Thank you for starting this topic! As cool as Duo Cam Doorbell is, Video Doorbell v2 is still one of my favorite products to use and assist others in troubleshooting.

On 4.51.2.1041 and unit randomly drops off wifi. It is still recording events to the SD card. If I ring the doorbell it re-connects. this is really strange.

I have since moved back to my old doorbell. This has been too unreliable. 16v 20va brand new transformer. I really wanted to like it.

My wishes for v3:

  • The doorbell should lock on to the mount with a release pin, not just slide on/off.
  • The SD card slot should be hidden in the back (which would be locked) not on the side where anyone can remove it.
  • Add a capacitor or a larger one to maintain stable power from the doorbell transformer.
  • Improve WiFi stability

My doorbell has the alexa integration issues too. Chimes in the Alexa only worked for a little bit.

My v2 does not record events. It’s not a case of missing some of them, It doesn’t record any of them.

Power cycling with the circuit breaker fixes it, but only for a few minutes. Then, it’s back to being good only for live-feeds.
