Wyze Video Doorbell v2 Issue Collection

Had no clue there was a hardware beta group! Wish I had known about this sooner. Thanks!!

It’s not just for hardware, they do some software/feature beta tests, too. And not everyone gets picked for every thing being tested. I’ve only been picked for one through there thus far in the 2 or 3 years I joined, and it was software/feature and not hardware.

Hey so I checked the ports status through my router firewall etc and I’m not blocking any ports right now so that rules out a network port issue for me.

I have an Omada network so I can see that the RSSI for all cams ( I have 2 v3 cams in my garage which are further away than the doorbell) is around -55dBm which to me should be more than enough. The SNR is >40dB, again should be more than enough. When they’re connected they work very well but the doorbell just seems to drop connection randomly after connecting for a couple of hours.

So just to update I have changed a few settings and the feed is now loading significantly quicker and seems more stable. I havent seen any drops atall since changing these settings

  1. I disabled: Unscheduled Automatic Power Save Delivery: for my access point. It is a bit more advanced power saving mechanism but it can confuse some IoT type devices.

  2. I set the SSID to be strictly WPA2-PSK (AES). Even if devices claim to support WPA3 (not sure if wyze does) they can behave erratically.

  3. I have allowed OFDMA to be enabled for the time being.

  4. I am still allowing WiFi 6 802.11ax but its currently set to auto so can jump to 802.11b/g/n if need be. Fast roaming is disabled (802.11r)

  5. I am collecting logs of the Wyze products to see if there are any other issues but wont be able to see for a few days.

So far so good.

Wyze cameras don’t support WPA3.

Good info.

After a day its been rock solid, no disconnects in the logs so I think changing the SSID to strictly use WPA2-PSK (AES) only and deactivate Unscheduled Automatic Power Save Delivery, has fixed the issues.

Will report back after 7 days.

I think that’s the answer. I disabled WPA3 on an AP I installed a while back because I was having some IoT issues, though not specific to Video Doorbell v2.

Not to derail the topic, but I’m glad you’re having better results now! Thanks for the updates! :+1:

I have the same issues. Watching this thread for possible updates. Thinking of moving over to the Logitech Circle

Since this topic seems to be primarily for collecting issues to prioritize for a single product, perhaps another existing topic provides some answers for you? If not, then please feel free to start your own topic where you can describe your specific issues in detail, and maybe we can provide some assistance! :upside_down_face:

After the 3.6.0.6 app update I started getting error code -68 from the Video Doorbell v2 when opening the app. Setting my router to use only WPA2-PSK[AES] has resolved the error for now.

My v2 hardwired doorbell will not load live video / audio when the button is pressed. I can look at the recording afterwards, but not live it’s just keeps trying to connect, but never does. I have tried two new doorbells, but still same issue. And I have already tried troubleshooting steps provided by Wyze to delete and reset up as new with no luck. Anyone got ideas what the issue is please?

Welcome to the Forum, @brauniii!

I have a number of questions after reading your post:

  • What did Support say when you contacted them? Did you submit a log after replicating the issue and open a ticket referencing the Log ID you generated?
  • How are you viewing the recordings? Are you subscribed to a plan and viewing cloud events (streamed from Wyze servers) or are you able to access microSD card recordings (streamed over your LAN from the doorbell)?
  • What’s the Wi-Fi signal like at your Video Doorbell v2’s location?
  • What’s the rated output for your transformer? If you can measure it (like with a multimeter), then what’s the voltage where your Video Doorbell v2 is installed?
  • What kind of chime are you using? Does it chime when the doorbell button is pressed? Is Chime Controller correctly installed?

Answering some of these and sharing more details about your setup might be helpful for other community members to understand your experience and provide assistance.

I may be misinterpreting, but do you want the Wyze app to begin streaming the video automatically when someone presses the doorbell’s button?

Just wanted to add the camera only does 15 FPS, not 20, during daytime.
