Video doorbell V2 only does 15 FPS

My video doorbell V2 only records 15 FPS (frames per second); daytime and nighttime. Wyze claims 20 FPS during daytime and 15 FPS nighttime.

See the attached video file info I captured through live view. Recorded event video clip I downloaded also 15 FPS.

This makes me wonder about the microSD recordings, but it’s cold and late, and my doorbell is in a cover secured by Torx screws that I really don’t want to deal with right now.

Video files recorded on microSD card are also 15 frames/second.

Curious if you’re hardwired or battery? I wonder if it changes based on how it is getting power. Or maybe there is a setting somewhere that you can reduce power saving features?

Video Doorbell v2 doesn’t have a battery. It does have a capacitor that can keep it powered for a short time during AC power loss, but it relies on AC for full-time use.

So much for that theory. Though I wonder if it is getting just enough power if that could affect it, but seems unlikely it is that smart.

@Salor, just to follow up on this, I’m looking at .mp4s on the microSD card from my Video Doorbell v2 (I needed to pull it for another reason and thought of this topic), and I’m seeing 15 FPS daytime and 10 FPS at night (with “Color Night Vision” enabled). :man_shrugging:

That doesn’t really tell you anything that you haven’t already figured out, but it does look like yet another product page is wrong. I haven’t experienced problems with the recordings at these rates, but I certainly understand being disappointed by not seeing performance as advertised.

You can tell the low frame rate when car or cat/dog run across the camera. The moving object looks little blurry.

I understand that, too. I see blur with other Wyze cameras, so I haven’t attributed that specifically to Video Doorbell v2’s frame rate.
