Doorbell Camera v2 not recording video to sd card

Just installed a wyze video doorbell v2. I have read through last years post for troubleshooting and it hasn’t helped with my issue. I have inserted the sd card and can see thumbnail pics that are on it, but NO continuous video. I have checked all settings and they are set to record continuously. I have reformatted the card…twice. I am use to a google nest but made the switch so I could have continuous feed with the sd card without paying a fee. Please help.

Welcome to the Forum, @pjedkin!

 Which topic is that? If you could drop a link to it in this topic, then that might help us to understand the troubleshooting you’ve already attempted.

Where and how are you trying to view the video? When using these cameras without a subscription, you want to be sure you’re specifically trying to access microSD card recordings and not cloud recordings:

  • From the camera’s Live Stream screen, tap the  SD Card icon in the menu bar, the strip of controls below the live view pane. This should be the leftmost button. Tapping that should show the recording timeline, which should be horizontal in the new app/UI and should show a green horizontal stripe along the bottom to indicate Continuous recording. (The green stripe will be interrupted when you have microSD card recording set for Events Only.) You should be able to swipe left and right to get to different parts of the timeline, double-tap or use a “spread” or “stretch” gesture to zoom in, or tap the Motion or Sound icons to “snap” the timeline to a given event and begin its playback.
  • From an event—maybe you got to an event thumbnail from a notification or by tapping on the app’s  Events tab—you’ll want to tap the  SD Card icon in the overlay menu. (You may need to tap a blank area of the screen in order to make this menu display.) That should take you directly to the microSD card playback timeline and begin playback of that event. If you don’t have a subscription, then hitting the normal playback button on an event screen like this will likely prompt you to subscribe to Cam Plus or another plan.

You are probably looking at “Events” display. Go to the camera’s live view and press the button at the bottom that says, “View Playback”.

Here is the closed request I read.
I am tapping the sd card. It is set to record video to the sd card under settings. I do not have a teal/green line. I CAN see the little sound/motion icons and get pictures when I tap them. I do not get moving video.
Maybe that is all i am suppose to see?
Thanks for your help.

I am not tapping on ‘Events’, That was clear from the above post i mentioned. Again thanks for your help.

Video Doorbell v2 has no such button in the UI. I don’t believe it ever has.

Thanks for sharing that topic link. I didn’t realize until I read into it that I’d written a lot in that one! Some of the information (pictures, etc.) there is dated, because the app and camera’s UI have changed since then, so that prompts some follow-up questions:

  1. What did Wyze Support say when you contacted them?
  2. What app version are you using?
  3. What firmware are you using?
  4. What kind (brand, model, capacity) of microSD card are you using?
  5. How did you format the card?
  6. Have you tried a different microSD card?
  7. What’s your transformer’s power rating and actual (measured) voltage?

If you could share a couple of screenshots of what you do see, then I think that would be helpful.

  1. Navigate to the camera’s Live Stream screen, tap the  SD Card icon in the menu bar, and then take a screenshot of what your timeline looks like.
  2. From this same screen, tap the tap  Settings ➜ MicroSD Card and take a screenshot of what the MicroSD Card screen shows (what settings you’ve selected, what your card’s used and total capacity are, etc.).

You should definitely be able to see more. Right now I just don’t have a good sense of what’s going on with your situation, so answering the above might help.

I missed the word, “doorbell” and only saw the “V2”.

Am I missing something? That pic shows your SD card is recording “Continuous”.

After sending all of this…I just went back to my sd card when I heard a motion prompt and tapped the motion icon in the time feed and it WORKED! Either it just started or it took me that long to realize…the time line was working. I hope it just started and continues but that said…THANK YOU! Your past post last year helped a lot but with the change in the timeline I couldn’t tell.
I appreciate all you have done. Thank you.

Yeah, it clearly is according to the first image you posted. That shows

and also a marker indicating a generic Sound event.

The second screenshot is also helpful. Thank you for posting those and the update about your situation.

If you run into other problems with this at any point, then please come back and answer the other questions in my previous post. Looks like you should be good for now, though. :+1:
