Video Doorbell Pro - is it possible to use continuous recording on the SD card?

The [Doorbell Pro] has an SD card, but there’s no option to enable continuous recording in the app.
What gives?

Is there any way to use the SD card for continuous recording, as for any other wyze camera??

[Mod Note]: Corrected doorbell model in title, tag and text.

There is, and it’s what I do. From Video Doorbell v2’s Live Stream screen, navigate to :gear: Settings ➜ Advanced Settings ➜ Record to MicroSD Card, then make sure Continuous is selected:

Yeah, it’s pretty much like doing it on other Wyze Cam models.

Oh, damn… I have just double checked - my doorbell is the Pro, not the v2.
Does the Pro have the same functionality?
I don’t see any of the settings indicated above (which are visible for all other cams that I use). Not sure if Pro does not have such support, or if there’s some other issue.

Thanks for your response.

Nope:

You’re welcome! Glad to help!

OK, that sucks. I read the thread on the v2 vs the Pro comparison as well and there are pros and cons for either. Given that I am quite happy with the Pro - except for the absence of the continuous recording, I will stick with the Pro. I am using the electronic chime, never had a lost connection, I am powering it from the former chime AC transformer, the viewing angle is perfect, so everything else is too good. A v3 that has the adds the SD card recording may lead to reconsidering this decision. But to a certain extent, the sd card can be useless, the moment that a burglar would snatch the doorbell off. I have another camera with continuous recording with a view of the area, so it’s good enough. Cheers folks.

The option isn’t there because it has no MicroSD card slot. There is nothing to continuously record to. In fact even if you want to record short clips you’ll need to subscribe to cam plus/unlimited as far as I know.

Yeah, I really like several of the features of the new Duo Cam Doorbell (including putting its microSD card slot in a better location and requiring a tool to remove it from the mount[1]), but I also just recently resolved an issue with my Video Doorbell v2, and working with it led me to learn about 3D printing (so I could get a better downward angle for packages), so I feel a lot of affinity for this device because of the journey I’ve had with it so far, and I don’t feel a need to upgrade any time soon. It’s good to have options in the marketplace, though, and if I didn’t already have the model they introduced last year, then I’d probably take a hard look at the one they announced this week.

  1. From the unboxing video, it appears that a paperclip or something similar can be used in place of the tool Wyze provides for this—much like with an Arlo doorbell I’ve installed in the past—and a troublemaker would just bash or wrench the doorbell off the wall without regard to removing the doorbell from the mount sans damage—no tool needed for that. Still, for regular use, it seems like this might’ve been designed with more customer feedback about the Video Doorbell v2’s deficiencies. ↩︎
