Wyze Product Release - 8/26/2025

This is what I was responding to, I finally found it after searching and searching. It was your response to another saying the panic scan is worthless…

Yeah, I think that was a conditional “worthless” because of how quickly the camera returns to its Home Waypoint when the user might want the camera to linger a bit before returning. That’s how I interpreted @ronl4625’s comment, anyway, and that’s what I was agreeing with, as I described the example of the camera moving when I want it to stay in a fixed position while I’m trying to access the microSD card slot. (The eyeroll is for the camera’s behavior; it’s not directed at you.)

I haven’t spent any time playing with the Pan Scan feature recently, so I won’t comment specifically on that behavior, but the “return to Home” thing seems too eager for my taste and can probably use some tweaking in a future app/firmware update.

Thanks for finding the source! That illustrates another point about Forum use, I think.

If you take some time to learn how to use the quoting feature, then I think you’ll find that’s easier than capturing screenshots, editing those, and uploading them. To use that, just highlight the text that you want to quote or respond to, and the Forum’s platform will pop up some choices for you. The option that you’re most likely to use is the regular  Quote, so you can click or tap that to have it inserted into your reply (or start a new reply if you haven’t already done that).

You can even use that feature to quote from multiple previous posts so that you don’t have to create multiple posts to reply to individual users or so that you can reply to items in more than one post from a single user, like this:

:face_with_peeking_eye:

The  Copy Quote option can also be helpful, but I personally find that I use that mostly when I want to pull a quote from one topic into an entirely different topic in order to provide a source of information and/or direct attention to another topic that might provide some perspective on whatever the current topic is.

There are different ways to do these things. I’m just mentioning things that I’ve found helpful—at least I hope they’re helpful to other users—in presenting and linking information to try to provide some clarity to the flow of discussion.

I’m using the plug from the box that it came with, but I do have a 3A supply that I will try. I’ve been thinking about that option for a little while, that helped with my V3 when I had the 20 foot extension USB cable that dropped the power really badly!

More pan V4 test results:

• It wouldn’t connect to either 2.4 or 5GHz band the other day, that I know is out of range of my 5GHz band. But now the 2.4GHz connection is stable. I tend to agree with another poster that Wyze tweaked something on the back end.

• The pan speed slider control is still not working, and the current setting is too slow.

• I and numerous people pointed out that the camera goes back to the home position too quickly to be usable. I find the only “workaround” at this time, is to put pan control in “Edit” mode; no going back to home point unless you press the home button.

• Also, I tested WebView and I see its live stream.

Another Wyze “easter egg”; for pan V4, go to Settings→Device Info. See the bars on the right side of Signal Strength? Press it.

That’s very helpful!!!

Agreed. They should all show that. The signal bars are pointless and arbitrary, but the -##dB is actually useful.

Mine is -43dB. My connection is stable since I relocated the camera to a spot that used to a problem. What kind of router do you have?

WYZE mesh router pro.

You may not have seen my other post but I discovered my disconnects were coming because I’ve got 8 Wyse cameras and 2 from other vendors and I got the cables mixed up and had this PAN V4 plugged into a 1A power supply, rather than the 2A which came with it and is obviously needed in order to function consistently.

My bad,

Don’t worry about it. It’s an easy mistake to make. Plus, people here don’t remember much after 2 days.

Doorbell duo and duo cam both have it. I don’t recall seeing any announcement. It’s all covered by, “bug fixes” heading.

Constantly triggering motion detection events on stationary vehicles.
It sees a car in the frame and as the pan scans, it sees it as if the car is moving. This never happened with the Pan V3, but is constantly happening on the new V4. I have so many triggered events it is incredibly difficult to find anything that is an actual event worthy of my attention. We won’t see the forest for the trees, so to speak.

Do you have “All Events” selected as your recording preference? Anything can trigger, even slight pixel brightness changes, not just the vehicles.

This is one of the major reasons I have a subscription. It’s not worth my time to skip over those pointless motion recordings. But now, even with a subscription, I’m getting those motion events, too. Just not as numerous.

I need in Black colour. when can we get that?

They said one is already on the road map and it should come out soon. I’m not sure what they define as soon though. If I had to guess, I’d say around October 24 for their anniversary. But I have no special info on that.

@WyzeJasonJ, when will the Quick Start Guide for this be available in the Help Center? The Help Center articles often lack illustrations and other information found within the QSGs, and being able to refer to QSGs while trying to assist users is helpful, plus some users occasionally request PDF downloads of various documents.
