I need black ones and it will be hard to get in UK and no doubt I need go though eBay’ers who take ages as no doubt drop ship them.

Wyze do not officially sell to UK but will sell me their cloud service every month.

I have 5 v4’s in total as I need 4 but one died without weeks and that was the first time I have ever had a camera die on me in 30years.

After waiting this long you would have been better holding out for a model with higher FPS and calling it v5 and not release the new dual cam with older specs but at least this has all 3 WIFI bands.

Personal taste? Practical (stealthier)? Both?

The latter as in my use they need to be hidden inside the windows (at top corners) and white stands out.

Anyone know the bitrate (kbps) of the videos recorded on the new Wyze Pan v4?

Probably not, it doesn’t even show up on the regular V4 cam anymore. I used to be able to see the kbps of the V4 by tapping the time lapse icon, currently does not show with the 3.6.5 iOS app.

For any TikTok’ers, someone said it was possible to get this Pan V4 for like $44 on TikTok for some people. I assume that’s from TikTok subsidizing part of the cost to convince people to come use their store. They do that a lot. Often the biggest discounts are for first time purchasers. Not sure if that’s happening in this case or not, but TikTok often has different prices for different users because of it. Just thought I’d mention it for those potentially interested. I know a lot of other people avoid TT like the plague.

2 of the top comments on the AMA thread are asking this exactly, so we should have an answer for it by Thursday at the latest:

I’m concerned they capped the bitrate again like they did with the regular Wyze v4. I understand they need to cap the bitrate for faster live streaming and cloud recording, but I wish they would also let us use a higher bitrate when recording directly to a microSD card like Reolink does.

Thanks. I agree with their concerns. What’s the point of the extra pixels with 4K if they’re going to force us to use a lower bitrate which negates resolution boost.

If anyone has any questions they’d like the Product Manager or Founders to answer about either the Duo Cam Pan or Pan V4, you can post them in the Reddit AMA thread now for people to vote on, and they will start answering the highest voted questions on Thursday (8/28/25).

If you don’t use Reddit, you can always post your questions here and someone like me will usually go relay those questions for you. :+1:

I am excited about the new wyze cam pan 4. It says it has 4k video. I love the pan cams that pivot so when I hear a noise outside I can pivot the cam from my cell to see what is going in. It would be nice if they were to come out with a wireless one. One might at 3 am I hear a loud boom in the sky with a long echo. Thats why a I like pan cam to turn it in that direction

There will probably never be a battery powered pan/tilt cam as it would just eat through the battery too quickly.

Given the pricing of this one, will be interesting to see how it works out, the main differences seem to be:

-4k sensor (but if they’re using compression to get it down to 1mbit/sec like they do on other cams, that will limit the benefits of that)
-5ghz wifi - useful for indoors, not as much for outdoors. If they are in fact using more bandwidth/less compression, this will be helpful
-Spotlight, but 2 less IR LEDs
-AI motion tracking, without mention of needing a subscription, so it appears to be onboard processing. If so, that would explain the relatively high price. Whether it will also do smart detections without a subscription isn’t clear.

Given that people with the duo pan are already complaining about drift, it appears they still have not addressed that problem from the Panv3, and it may have gotten worse. We’ll see if the Panv4 also has that issue.

OK. Here goes.

Received new Cam Pan V4 (CP V4) from Amazon early last night (8/26 6pm).

Unit was boxed in typical Wyze fashion. Professional, well branded, included everything I needed to install. Of note - it included a 2A wall wart.

As I always do I did the initial configuration from my recliner. Once configured I deploy. Configuration was straightforward. Bluetooth was used to setup the network, as expected. It was nice to have the 5gHz band available. This was a requirement for my purchase as I do not want anymore 2.4gHz devices on my network. In all I would say the initial configuration took less than 10 minutes.

I have a very specific use case for this unit. I have an ongoing solar project that uses a shed that is located about 35ft from our house.

Inside I have my solar equipment, power banks, cameras, temp gauges, power gauges, cooling fans etc. Before I put the CP V3 in the shed I was making 10 trips a day to “the shed”. About 3 weeks ago I put a CP V3 in the shed. I was able to sit in my recliner and remotely point the camera at the instrument of interest. My trips to the shed dropped from 10 to 0. Problem I ran into was resolution. Some of the test gear displays were marginal, bordering on unreadable. I was hoping the new CP V4, with its 4k resolution, would cure this–it did. This was a requirement and it met it.

Finally, waypoints. With the V3 I setup 4 waypoints. The home position, fan 1, fan 2, power bank 1. I could quickly click on each of the waypoints. This worked great and I expected the new V4 to easily do this. It did not.

This is early on in my testing so I am cautious coming to any conclusions. This may be a design feature, I may have missed a configuration setting etc.

When I click on a waypooint the unit dutifully goes to the waypoint–then within a second or so returns to the home position. I have tried it with tracking on or off, scanning on or off, all on, all off. Nothing helps. It returns to the home position. The following short video shows it:

It’s to early to in my testing to involve logs and Support. I’m going to see if others can confirm what I’m seeing. You might mention this to your contacts. Meanwhile, the product is usable and with the increased resolution helping my use case.

BTW–I did experience minor drifting with the V3 series. So far the V4 seems rock solid, maybe a bit to “rock solid” as it wants to continually go home😎.

Careful. At my age that’s always a consideration. I’ll find 10 trips elseware to make up the difference :winking_face_with_tongue:. I just hate doing the samething over and over. Isn’t that why computers were invented?

Ditto!

Does this camera connect directly to my home WIFI or does it connect to the hub that is on the home WIFI?

Thanks.
