I tried to update the firmware yesterday, the update failed, and now my camera is bricked. Hard reset didn’t work. I contacted support, they walked me though several steps, but at the end it was determined the device is bricked, and it’s out of warranty.

The possibility of bricking during firmware updates has always been a problem. A very simple solution is to download the firmware to a local device on the LAN (like your phone, where the app is), verify the check sums and proceed. This approach looks even better when you have to update several cameras of the same type.

While this method isn’t entirely reliable, it should at least be an order of magnitude better than the way it is now.

Instead, it insists on doing the update live while on the internet.

I’m experiencing the same issue… I went to update the firmware this morning and now I can’t access my camera at all. Won’t connect or anything. There has to be a solution for this besides replacement.

I wasn’t too pleased with this happening. This camera watches my driveway, so it’s fairly important. I wasn’t very happy while I was up on a step ladder trying to resolve the problem, it was very windy and snowing

We are pausing this firmware and looking into the connection issues users are having with this release, I apologize for the inconvenience.

It took over 3 minutes for each one of my V3 Pros, but I was able to successfully get it onto all three of mine before they pulled the plug. They do seem to connect faster now, which was a big complaint I had with the V3 Pros.
Thanks

Change the firmware back to the October 2024 firmware with a 32GB or smaller SD card. I have not tried to load the March 2025 firmware on my V3 Pro so it is still working just fine with the October 2024 firmware.

somehow this time even loading firmware manually doesnt worked for me.

Tried to flash manually. It went to purple for 5 seconds and then back to red. I tried factory reset but no matter how long I held the setup button it wouldn’t flash red. That latest firmware update seems to have completely bricked my V3 Pro… Unbelievable.

Which version, the new bad one or the October 2024 version of firmware?

I tried October 2024, and then I tried the one before that.

OK, thanks. I am happy I have auto firmware updates turned off on all of my cams and that I didn’t try the March version.

I recently saw a recent posting on here about errors in flashing instructions. Maybe do a search?

Yeah I had to do more research because it says to make a folder on the SD card. If you do this, the camera won’t flash (and won’t even show the purple light). So I put the recovery file on the SD card main directory. It finally went to recognize it (turn purple), but just goes back to red.

I also have a V3pro but didn’t update the firmware. Been burnt too many times updating V3 firmware. Fortunately I was able to flash to older firmware.

The direction for the V3 Pro are correct.
Only the .bin file gets put on the 32 GB or smaller SD in FAT 32.

Yeah that’s what I did and did not work unfortunately. Goes right back to red after going purple for ~5 seconds. I’ll try again later but… seems like I may be SOL. Luckily I bought a v4 and it came next day so I replaced the broken v3 pro. Still upset.

I would be upset too. The V3 Pro is the most expensive WYZE cam I have since I got it when they first came out, activated 11 October 2022.
