After the July 13 2023 update, two of my wyze cam v3 will no longer connect to the network.
I have tried to download the firmware to SD can try to manually do it, but its not working as it says it should.
I tried this.
Wyze Cam v2 and Pan firmware files can be found on the Release Notes page.
Download a specific version of firmware, For Windows 10: Right-click on the folder and select extract all. For Mac: Just drag and drop the folder, put it on the root directory of your microSD card. For both Mac and Windows, rename the file to demo.bin.
Power off your camera and insert your microSD card.
Hold the setup button, plug in your USB cable, keep holding the setup button for 3-6 seconds until the light is solid blue, then release the button.
Note: The “Solid Blue” in this case is not the same as the one normally seen on the camera. Instead, both the blue and yellow LEDs will be on at once, making it appear to be a lighter blue.
Wait for 3-4 minutes. The camera will reboot and change light status during this time.
Once this is done, your camera should be functioning with the original setup. No need to re-setup your camera!
And it just goes right into setup, no purple light.
Since your post says V3 camera go here and read the correct directions for the V3. Use a 32GB card or smaller and rename the file as shown in directions.
I am confused as your link is the same one I am following and its not working. I have tried several times.
No purple light, simply says ready to connect…
If anything I copied and pasted the wrong thing, but its not working.
I contacted Wyze support yesterday afternoon after four of my Cam v3s are now offline after applying FW version 4.36.11.4679. I was told by customer service that this is a known issue that developers are troubleshooting the Cam v3s connecting to the Internet after the update, and it may take two to three days. I suggested that they pause the deployment of this firmware which ironically says that it, “Improved Internet connection” until this issue is resolved, but apparently that hasn’t happened. Thanks for the information on the local FW update as it’ll likely come to that.
I feel exactly the same way about this update. Its internet connection is WORSE and it claims to improve it. HA. Why cant they leave well enough alone?
This update broke one of my V3s, too. I had to revert back to the prior firmware to get it to find my network again. Lesson learned – don’t update to new firmware right away anymore. I’m surprised this issue isn’t posted right at the top of the forum for all the other people wondering why their V3s stopped working.
This latest update broke two of my Wyze Cam V3s
I have several others that work after the update but these two cannot be connected even after factory resets.
I also confirm the Wyze tech support has acknowledged the issue and state that their developers are working on resolving it.
They asked me to wait until the next phone app update.
What are you trying to do, flash firmware?
Download the firmware you want to your device.
Get a clean (Empty) SD card 32GB or smaller.
Go to your downloaded firmware file and extract all.
Rename the file as directions:
Drag or copy the firmware to the SD.
Put SD in the camera.
Well you need something to put the SD in to copy the file and to put the file on the card, then the card in the cam. Go beg, borrow or steal a windows PC, it’s easy that way.
