I ordered my V3 Cam on Oct 27.
When can I expect it?
Yes, if there are significant changes they’ll need a FCC Grant of Certification before the product is unloaded from the ship.
Sometimes we’d apply while it was at sea and pray it approved before the ship docked at a US port.
By elsewhere, do you mean that maybe it was previously approved by another company (such as how the V2 is just a copy of the Xiaomi Xiaofang)? Or just that the WiFi transmitter itself was already approved elsewhere?
I think you’re right.
It is weird though…logically, I’d think that if Wyze changed any parts that they’d have to refile. I mean, even changing the camera casing from what another company uses could affect how far a signal reaches. Plus, if the FCC requires them to show pictures of both the exterior and interior of the entire product, then you’d think if Wyze made any changes at all (even the new starlight lens, or rounded edges on the cases) then the FCC would require a new filing with the new internal/external photos because it is different from what they approved, right?
I certainly am not familiar nor qualified to know how the FCC rules work, I’m just postulating based on logic…but, if that were the case then Wyze would have filed for other products that are conspicuously absent from that list of FCC filings from Wyze Labs…so I guess there are lots of exceptions to when something has to be filed. I am sure Wyze is on top of all their legal requirements, and @Ken.S posted a great comment thread confirming that at least some people will receive their V3’s during November (so it appears an FCC filing wasn’t necessary for whatever reason).
I believe any changes need to be reapproved. My thought was it may have been approved as is already under a different company name.
I worked for a company that introduced an average of 30 new products per month to USA market and supplied +80% of all consumer entertainment electronics world wide. None of them were branded w/their name.
FCC needs the complete spec and sample for testing. FCC may issue a waiver and approval at their discretion.
@rbruceporter @dr.know Apparently you guys are right (not that I doubted you). I just checked the details tab for the V3, and it says they have an FCC certification already, so it was filed under something other than “Wyze Labs, Inc.”
I guess that’s why the FCC database keeps records of lots of details about the equipment, so if necessary they can search for the product by something other than the Applicant Name.
If anyone figures out what the V3 was filed under, posting the details would be appreciated. I am interested in trying to compare to see how much better the V3 WiFi connection supposedly is compared to the V2 (among other improvements like the processor, etc.). Just for curiosity (I already ordered some anyway).
The v2 cam is a rebranded Xiaomi cam. The v3 is probably one of theirs , too . Maybe search for it under
Xiaomi
Actually it’s not a Xiaomi, Xiaomi gets their cam from the same source as Wyze. I don’t recall who the actual OEM is, one of the Wyze principles actually said it was not Xiaomi somewhere on this forum, and that they both sourced the camera from the same vendor.
Usually the name or logo is printed on the circuit board. From the little I’ve seen, boards are sorced from various manuf. Companies will purchase sub-assembly and finish the product in USA to reduce tarrif + duty. The RF module differs in only in antenna and placement.
Yep, there are numerous sources/suppliers for the components used in the cam.
How is Homekit development going? Any news on when it comes available?
I’m pretty sure on the ama, they said it was being worked on
I guess there’s no way to cancel my V3 order now huh? Because until they fix the Cam Plus with missing fragment and fail to upload errors as well as the 5000 problems with the AI testing I’m not buying this.
Likely the original was a “rebrand” and covered under another filing.
A new one would likely be a “new design” and integrate with the forthcoming Sense V2 and new Sense Hub. Just a guess.
It does have a striking similar appearance to the Blink Mini…IMO.

Likely late November into December.
Update: Ships December. Hopefully the holidays dont slow shipping down.
The ADT Outdoor home security cam looks like a close cousin too…
The thing can see in the dark! The low light performance is amazing! THANK YOU!
When will the same technology in the v3 be available in the outdoor camera?
