There is a starlight sensor in this camera, but Cam Plus Lite will not work on this camera.
If all future wyze cams require a monthly fee for video notifications, I’m out. You’re gonna tick off a lot of your customer base.
As it stands, no cameras that come out after April 2022 have support for Cam Plus Lite. As of right now that has not changed.
I ordered 4.
One question I have. Will the outdoor powercord set work with the OG? The website says it’s only for the V3.
I am trying to find you the answer to this right now.
No.
My Wyze Cam OG is working!!! Awesome!! Loving it!!
@ray11
I have been informed it will work with the Wyze Outdoor Power Adapter.
Any idea why the telephoto version costs 50% more? The video with the founders describing the design process (which was a really good video) said they are the same camera except for the lens, so I don’t get the 50% higher cost. It also doesn’t have the spotlight which wouldn’t do any good on a long distance camera anyway, but it’s something less hardware wise.
I am not sure why it is 50% more. Many have asked this but I do not have an answer.
Plug in wired or hardwired… Makes no difference how it is attached to the cam if the cord is exposed and reachable. When they carry a pair of these. They are all vulnerable.
If they can reach the cam. It is at risk regardless of how protected the cord is. The key to a security cam isn’t in the power cord, it’s where you place it.
The only saving grace to any reachable cam is the video upload and notification before they cut the cord, pull the plug, or just rip it off the mount. That is why cams are set out of reach in a perimeter network with overlapping FOV.
Thanks for getting the answer. It’s probably better to update the outdoor powercord website to reflect this. My friends and family who is ordering the OG also had that question.
Thanks, I will see if I can get them to do that tomorrow.
Since the new OG is basically a V3 with a small spotlight, is there any reason why I couldn’t pair an OG telephoto with my current V3 with spotlight accessory setup? I don’t need the PIP function that a pair of OGs offers, but adding a telephoto to where my V3 points is a tempting perspective. Basically could I stack an OG telephoto to my V3 and use the daisy chain cord with it for one single power connection?
The OG is not a ‘V3 with a spotlight’, as the V3 can still control all the accessories that have been made for it.
As for pairing an OG telephoto with a V3 with spotlight accessory, I guess you could put them in close proximity to one another, but the two wouldn’t be connected otherwise, as there is no PiP or other direct dependency on one another.
You could instead substitute the V3 with an OG, in which case you would get the PiP interdependency.
On stacking, that is an OG thing. You can put the cameras together otherwise, but only the OGs have the slot on the top for stacking:
If you place the OGTelly next to the v3 with the spotlight then use a single power source, the power source may not power all that because the single power connection would be then split three times to power the v3, then the spotlight accessory, then the OGT. Also of note the spotlight accessory may or may not help the view of the OGT because the spotlight is more of a wider angle flood light then a more focused projecting beam. But the real world results may vary depending on the use case.
Not in that 2-Pack that is currently available, no, there is no mounting kit yet.
And keep in mind that the current 2-Pack has 2 of the same Spotlight cams, not one of each type.
Ahhh, thanks on the noticing the 2 cameras are the same. So will the mounting kit be sold with the 2 pack normal? Or seperate? Then I wonder for cost and cost of shipping. And should people wait?
