We have an update to the Wyze app today to version 3.9.0.x, this expands Friendly Faces triggers to more cameras (in areas that allow it) and improved the setup and management flow for adding Wyze shortcuts to Siri (iOS only).
Well, after the most recent Android app update, thereās a new glitch⦠when viewing playback on the Events Tab, the playback timeline NORMALLY disappears (hides) from view after a few seconds, along with all the other icons on the screen. This gives me a clear view of the entire image/video clip. Now (since the update to v3. 9.0.739), the playback timeline and other indicator icons and text remain displayed (like theyāre stuck to the screen!) for the duration of the clip. Even touching the screen to manually hide them does not work to un-stick them. Please fix this right away. Itās driving me nuts!

[Mod Note]:Your topic was merged to this announcement topic for better visibility to Wyze.
Am I the only one experiencing this issue? I was kind of hoping others would chime in as well. If itās just me, then it might not be an app update issue. Little help, please?
I see what you mean, and itās annoying. I was able to reproduce this on two different phones (both Android; different versions). I submitted a log with this description:
When playing events from the Events tab, the icon control strip (Go Live, SD Card, Share, etc.) remains visible during playback and canāt be dismissed/hidden by tapping a blank area of the screen as in previous app versions.
The scrubber (I think this is what you mean by āplayback timelineā) also remains visible, but depending on screen geometry I think thatās probably less of an issue (and I donāt recall seeing this disappear in the past, but maybe it did; since itās at the bottom of the screen, I care less about that). With some screens, I can see how the icon barās constant presence could be a hindrance to viewing playback.
At my age I can be slow. I still cannot see the issue. I see the referenced group of icons (vertical) in above screen shot. Nothing is overlaying the screen. If I tap the image the icons disappear and vice versa.
@Crease you may be right about screen size and geometry. I just checked my S24 ultra, S10 lite, and a9+. Same on all three.
If Iām missing the obvious - - it wouldnāt be the first timeš
That indicates to me that youāre not experiencing the issue that I believe @jh006 and I are seeing. As I experience it, some of the icons (especially the Go Live icon, which you show in your second screenshot above) cover parts of the video view pane. That whole strip displays as an overlay, and I used to be able to tap unused areas of the screen (black areas above and below the view pane) in order to make that strip appear or disappear, but in this current app it appears to be visible all the time with no way to dismiss it even temporarily.
Itās more of a problem on the moto (where the overlay covers part of the pane) than on the Pixel (where it really doesnāt), but on both phones Iām unable to make it disappear like I could before.
Thank you both very much for chiming in. I believe @ronl4625 is looking at an individual camera event tab. The phenomenon Iām describing only occurs when viewing a clip in landscape orientation. I see it on the main events tab from the home screen that includes all available camera events. And @Creaseā¦yes thank you for the correct terminology. I meant scrubber. And yes, that used to disappear as well, but now it stays on the screen and slightly obscures anything across the bottom of the video clip. Thanks for confirming that itās not just me! Wyze, is this something you can take a look at?
Youāre welcome. If you havenāt already done so, then Iād suggest submitting an app log after you replicate the problem. If you post the Log ID here, then hopefully someone from Wyze will look into it.
When I reproduced the issue before, I was doing it from Events and viewing in portrait mode. I see what you mean about landscape view, though. In that case, itās like every element is part of one overlay that canāt be dismissed: scrubber with playback controls, icon bar, camera label, detection type and timestamp, etc. I can see how thatās unhelpful, and I agree that it should be possible to tap to dismiss this.
Thatās good for you, by which I mean that Iām glad youāre not experiencing the issue. Since youāre not using the production app version thatās the subject of this topic, weāre not really doing apples-to-apples comparisons, so Iām glad that youāre being clear about that point, too.
I donāt usually participate in the public beta, but I just switched to that channel in Google Play, so Iāll see what happens if/when I get the 3.10.0.b743 version. If I can still reproduce the issue with that version, then Iāll plan to post an update here as well as in the Wyze app 3.10 Beta 12/18/2025 topic for that one.

Looks like itās fixed in the β app, even in landscape view, at least on this one device where I tested it (the older moto). Hopefully thatāll continue to be fixed when the next production app version is released and itāll work out for @jh006.
