Wyze App Update - 12/15/2025

We have an update to the Wyze app today to version 3.9.0.x, this expands Friendly Faces triggers to more cameras (in areas that allow it) and improved the setup and management flow for adding Wyze shortcuts to Siri (iOS only).

Ewww…it’s sticky! :grimacing:

Well, after the most recent Android app update, there’s a new glitch… when viewing playback on the Events Tab, the playback timeline NORMALLY disappears (hides) from view after a few seconds, along with all the other icons on the screen. This gives me a clear view of the entire image/video clip. Now (since the update to v3. 9.0.739), the playback timeline and other indicator icons and text remain displayed (like they’re stuck to the screen!) for the duration of the clip. Even touching the screen to manually hide them does not work to un-stick them. Please fix this right away. It’s driving me nuts!

Android 16 / Pixel 8 Pro / app v3. 9.0.739

So…

Am I the only one experiencing this issue? I was kind of hoping others would chime in as well. If it’s just me, then it might not be an app update issue. Little help, please? :blush:

This is what I’m seeing from the Event tab > Select Event:

After a few seconds I see this:

All appears normal.

Now the SD card does have an overlay for navigation. Tap the screen and it appears for a few seconds as shown below.

I am on a later release, 3.10.0. b743 but I was on your release up until a couple of days ago. Did not see any navigation issues.

Just for reference I am on Cam Plus Pro. Above screenshots were with a v4 cam. Samsung S24 ultra, Android 16.

If you haven’t done so clear the app cache, restart the phone, log out and back in.

I see what you mean, and it’s annoying. I was able to reproduce this on two different phones (both Android; different versions). I submitted a log with this description:

When playing events from the Events tab, the icon control strip (Go Live, SD Card, Share, etc.) remains visible during playback and can’t be dismissed/hidden by tapping a blank area of the screen as in previous app versions.

Android App Version: 3.9.0.739
Test Phone & OS: Google Pixel 6, Android 15 (also Motorola moto g⁷, Android 10)
Log ID: 2129461

The scrubber (I think this is what you mean by ā€œplayback timelineā€) also remains visible, but depending on screen geometry I think that’s probably less of an issue (and I don’t recall seeing this disappear in the past, but maybe it did; since it’s at the bottom of the screen, I care less about that). With some screens, I can see how the icon bar’s constant presence could be a hindrance to viewing playback.

At my age I can be slow. I still cannot see the issue. I see the referenced group of icons (vertical) in above screen shot. Nothing is overlaying the screen. If I tap the image the icons disappear and vice versa.

@Crease you may be right about screen size and geometry. I just checked my S24 ultra, S10 lite, and a9+. Same on all three.

If I’m missing the obvious - - it wouldn’t be the first timešŸ˜‹

That indicates to me that you’re not experiencing the issue that I believe @jh006 and I are seeing. As I experience it, some of the icons (especially the Go Live icon, which you show in your second screenshot above) cover parts of the video view pane. That whole strip displays as an overlay, and I used to be able to tap unused areas of the screen (black areas above and below the view pane) in order to make that strip appear or disappear, but in this current app it appears to be visible all the time with no way to dismiss it even temporarily.

It’s more of a problem on the moto (where the overlay covers part of the pane) than on the Pixel (where it really doesn’t), but on both phones I’m unable to make it disappear like I could before. :man_shrugging:

@ronl4625 and @Crease

Thank you both very much for chiming in. I believe @ronl4625 is looking at an individual camera event tab. The phenomenon I’m describing only occurs when viewing a clip in landscape orientation. I see it on the main events tab from the home screen that includes all available camera events. And @Crease…yes thank you for the correct terminology. I meant scrubber. And yes, that used to disappear as well, but now it stays on the screen and slightly obscures anything across the bottom of the video clip. Thanks for confirming that it’s not just me! Wyze, is this something you can take a look at?

You’re welcome. If you haven’t already done so, then I’d suggest submitting an app log after you replicate the problem. If you post the Log ID here, then hopefully someone from Wyze will look into it.

When I reproduced the issue before, I was doing it from Events and viewing in portrait mode. I see what you mean about landscape view, though. In that case, it’s like every element is part of one overlay that can’t be dismissed: scrubber with playback controls, icon bar, camera label, detection type and timestamp, etc. I can see how that’s unhelpful, and I agree that it should be possible to tap to dismiss this.

Still not seeing it. I am selecting the event tab front the main screen. Following is what I see

Icons

Tap

No icons

@Crease as long as you can reproduce it that should be enough for wyze. Just a thought. Do you have a device you can install the latest beta on?

That’s good for you, by which I mean that I’m glad you’re not experiencing the issue. Since you’re not using the production app version that’s the subject of this topic, we’re not really doing apples-to-apples comparisons, so I’m glad that you’re being clear about that point, too.

I don’t usually participate in the public beta, but I just switched to that channel in Google Play, so I’ll see what happens if/when I get the 3.10.0.b743 version. If I can still reproduce the issue with that version, then I’ll plan to post an update here as well as in the Wyze app 3.10 Beta 12/18/2025 topic for that one.

2025-12-21T04:06:43Z Edit: Got it! (That was quick!)

App Version Tap Events Playback to Dismiss Overlay
Wyze v3.9.0.739 :cross_mark::-1:
WyzeBeta v3.10.0.b743 :check_mark::+1:

Looks like it’s fixed in the β app, even in landscape view, at least on this one device where I tested it (the older moto). Hopefully that’ll continue to be fixed when the next production app version is released and it’ll work out for @jh006.
