Hide overlay issue - only partially fixed 🙁

Ok, so…

I’m grateful that the latest (non-beta) app update corrected the overlay-items-not-hiding issue when viewing event recordings in landscape mode.

BUT…

It’s only partially fixed. :slightly_frowning_face:

The original functionality would pop up the overlay items (camera name, detection time, thumbs up/down icons, Live view icon, SD card icon, etc..) when I started watching the first recording I wanted to view. This would happen immediately upon rotating my phone to landscape mode. Then, I could single-tap anywhere on the screen to hide the overlay items in order to see the entire screen more clearly without the overlay obstructing.

Unfortunately, that functionality was completely broken after an app update and the overlay became ‘stuck’ (un-hideable) on the screen when viewing event recordings in landscape mode.

After the most recent app update this part is now ‘fixed.’ But, with the original functionality, the overlay items used to STAY hidden and I could then swipe up or down to view the previous or next recording without having to keep single-tapping to clear the overlay as each successive recording came up. It would stay ‘locked’ where it belongs (out of sight) until I either single-tapped again to bring it back up, or I rotated back to portrait mode. Kind of an on-demand mode, if you will.

Now, I have to single-tap after every swipe!

As each recording comes up after I swipe to see the next one, I have to single-tap again to hide the overlay items! Every. Time. :expressionless_face:

Swipe-tap-swipe-tap-swipe-tap. Painful! I very much prefer swipe-tap (once)-swipe-swipe-swipe.

It’s a small, but irritating thing. Wyze, please return things to the original functionality!

Thanks for the fix so far that at least allows me to hide the overlay. Much appreciated. :+1:t4:

Are you running production iOS app 3.10.0.9?

I see what you mean in Android Wyze app 3.10.0.745, and I remember when you reported the issue for a previous app release. Since I don’t routinely use this particular feature (swiping through events to review in landscape view), I guess I’m less annoyed with the one-tap-to-dismiss-the-overlay than I am with the two-taps-to-4× behavior because playback speed settings aren’t persistent when transitioning to another event video.

I imagine (my own speculation) that this is behaving as designed, though you could certainly post about it in the appropriate app announcement topic (probably Wyze app 3.10 - Released 1/22/2026) or request a feature change in the Wishlist if you believe it’s that critical.

Thanks for the ping!

No, thanks for checking. I’m on a Pixel 8 Pro running Android 16.

@Crease

I nearly always view at 1x speed, but just tried 4x for a few recordings in a row and yes, that is equally annoying. I definitely see what you mean!

For my swipe-tap-swipe-tap issue, it may be working as designed, but it’s working differently than previously designed, which is the root of my problem. It was always swipe-tap (and this tap would hide the overlay which would then stay hidden through multiple swipes as long as I stayed in landscape mode).

I like your suggestion to raise in the app update topic. Appreciate the suggestion, thanks again. :+1:t4::blush:
