New app layout is a mess

Have to say I cannot stand the new app layout. Now when I tap on one of my cams (I have 3 ), options (ex album, siren, etc) are listed under it & I have to scroll across to see them. And below my cam are the recent events. I cannot even find ‘playback’. I do not want all this mess on the same screen. INow, it’s just a big jumble on the eyes. And if I drag down events trying to get them off the screen the cam becomes huge & I have to scroll to see all parts of the image. Before this change I noticed Wyze started sneaking in ads on my Home Screen, just under where I have my 3 cams. I’m so frustrated that the simplicity Wyze was known for seems to have gone by the wayside. Thinking about finding a new cam/brand all together.

Your signature says you use IOS, but if you also have an Android device you can grab older Wyze APK files for Android here.

I am very happy staying with Wyze App version 2.50.

Hmm, cam-v1-v2 and the iphone-ipad app.

Which version of the app, @betsyilene ?

You can find it in the app here:

Home → Account → About

And here’s a list of all versions for general reference:

https://support.wyze.com/hc/en-us/articles/360024852172-Release-Notes-Firmware#Accordion-2025-7

I use Android and quite like the new interface, fwiw.[1] If you want to kick it around some, post a screenshot or two.

Cheers!

  1. Edit: Whoops. I meant the version 3 app and all the changes made up to now, not including the one’s for the v3 bestyIlene is talking about. ↩︎

Wyze app indicates up to date with latest version of 4.36.14.3497. Let me try to post a screenshot….

Hey betsyilene

The number you provided is a firmware version and shows you have a cam-v3 (the same one I have) and you’re right, it’s up to date.

The app version is at the upper part of the About screen:

I have the latest version of the Android app but it doesn’t yet include the new interface like yours.

Still, I think I can address this:

The SD Card icon at the far left of the options strip does double-duty:

  • When Live View is displayed in the viewing window, it will take you where the big Playback icon once did

  • When an Event is selected and displaying in the viewing window, it will take you directly to the corresponding footage on the SD card [1]

Can’t speak to this:

Maybe someone already using the new UI can weigh in.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a practical way for Apple users to continue using an older version of the app with the simpler interface (as @StevenA suggested Android users can.)

Wyze is attempting to unify the interface across camera models as much as possible. People with multiple cam models have been asking for this and it also makes things easier to support so they’re not likely to reverse course.

  1. Edit: Actually, in this case the icon is to the right and reads Jump to SD Card. ↩︎

Also, the IOS Wyze App has an update released today. You might try to update your IOS App to see if it improves your functionality.

3.7.0.8 (August 27, 2025)

  • Passkey login now pops up at launch.
  • Ability to add Wyze Shortcuts directly to Siri.
  • Bug fixes.

Big typo on my end. I have the Wyze V3, not V2. Sorry I gave the wrong info.

No worries.

Thanks for all the responses & help everyone. Wish I had my glasses on because on this phone/small print, my finger accidentally hit a ‘flag’! Did not mean to flag anyone/anything, but saw no way to undo it! New to forums & all the misc symbols on the page:)

Great, you’ve got the latest version installed. :+1:

I forgot I have a couple of backup cams with the new interface (model OG) so I fired them up to see what we can see with this:

If you’re dragging this bar down to shrink the Events list:

…it will enlarge (& zoom) the Live View window increasingly the lower you go.

If you drag below around here:

…it will “snap” into a zoomed-in, full screen view you can swipe around:

To return to the regular layout just double-tap that view.

Can I go back to the old version? I’m android

It’s possible to install an APK of a previous app version, as @StevenA noted above.

You can grab the Wyze APK file of the version you like from the link in post #2 above.

Here is a video show how to install an APK on Android.

I hate this functionality. The object in view is either too small or too large (can’t see surroundings simultaneously). There is no middle ground. I like the old app where you can pinch pan zoom and double tap to return to original size. You can zoom and pan to exact size of area you want to view.

I agree, I like the way it worked before.

For one thing, if you

on an object of interest, it would stay centered in the viewing window as the image enlarged. This is critical, imo. The function feels broken as it is.

Better now to first pull down the ‘zoom bar’ to approximate the degree of zoom you want, then drag the object of interest to the center and adjust. :man_shrugging:

Freakin terrible. With cam plus and now only can see past events instead of 24hr continuous? Might be time to leave Wyze. Horribly not intuitive.

Concur. Time to check out Blink maybe. Paying for Camplus and can’t even see history any longer. All the “events” clutter up the tiny phone screen.
