Pro donuts, I wouldn’t mind trying one
I had to get the PRO Recliner because of all the pro donuts. I walk in at Dunkin’ and scan all the tables full of folks and loudly proclaim “Amateurs!”
That’s what I was thinkin’. I’m eager for you to start your own store to compete with Tim’s: Mr. Beeb’s ProNuts!
Maybe they need a Dunkin’ Donuts or Krispy Kreme sponsorship.
My Toyota truck is 9 years old with built in Nav (and No cell connection and No subscription). My map data is over 9 years old but always gets me to my destination when I use it.
There are some newly built roads that show on Nav as an open field and some speed limit info is now wrong.
Truck manufactures are pushing me to keep my 9 year old truck to avoid being annoyed with ads on the Nav and trying to get me to subscribe to Nav which my free Nav is working well for me.
Yes, I can buy a Toyota SD card with updated map data, but I don’t use Nav enough to want newer map data.
That is horrible. For some reason, map updates are provided with my lease. No ads. The only bad thing is I have keep the car on for an hour for the updates to complete.
Actually, the update process is not bad at all. I just don’t feel the need to buy an updated maps SD card (OEM or one from Amazon). I saved this video because it is the exact head unit that is in my truck if I ever change my mind.
Na, most stuff is EMP protected. We’re gonna need Krakatoa, Big Meteorite or Nuclear Winter at this point. As soon as they can, someone is going to project ads on the full moon. Nice big Target, ATT, GE, MB star logo. “Todays Full moon is brought to you by Mercedes Benz”
I wish that was true. Not sure what country you live in, but US and the west are vulnerable to EMP.
Reminds me that I need to build a Faraday trash can. I would love to Faraday my garage.
That’s been on the works for some time now:
The Japanese space travel startup Ispace and other companies have proposed and developed plans to project ads onto the moon.
How it works
- Projection mapping
Companies could project ads onto rovers, landers, or other vehicles on the moon. These ads would not be visible from Earth, but they would provide a unique backdrop for brands.
- Satellite projection
A satellite in lunar orbit could project ads onto the moon’s surface. The satellite could then film the images and send them to Earth for use in print ads and billboards.
Companies involved
- Ispace
A Japanese space travel startup that has proposed projecting ads onto the moon
- Lun-Ads
A UK company that has proposed projecting ads onto the moon using a satellite in lunar orbit
- Astrolab
A company that has signed a deal with Group of Humans to explore advertising opportunities on the moon
Legal considerations
- The 1967 Outer Space Treaty does not directly restrict advertising on the moon
- American law restricts celestial advertising to be “non-obtrusive”
Wow. That is easy.
I have to download a map building program, format my thumbdrive FAT. Provide my VIN and the date of last update. Then I download a file that needs to compile on my drive for at least an hour. Insert thumbdrive into console and drive somewhere for an hour.
All without ads.
That would suck.
I find it interesting you added the “legal” when the recent trend is the law is whatever someone is willing to pay for the opportunity to take it to the next court - repeat - then just ignore the result if it’s not your choice and then get charged with contempt and then just ignore that - without repercussions.
I second that
We are working on the lens cover product without the birdhouse, agree there are cool use cases for it. Hope to have it live in the next few months.
Totally agree permission for multiple users needs to be done faster. I just resent it to our app team. They are obviously working on tons of features but will try to get this in development sooner.
We will not force this experience on anybody. You would have to opt in. It would only be as a benefit to those who want Cam Plus but don’t want to pay for it. We let brands pay the bill for them and everyone wins,
These were just mocked up by our graphic designer, but yeah we would do whatever the standard is for banner ads in an app. You’re right they are probably bigger than what they should be.
yeah, good questions that we would have to figure out if we were to really develop this feature. I imagine the ads would try to stay in spaces that are out of the way and don’t affect use of the product, as much as we could. There might be a place on the home screen or camera app where features are just pushed down a little bit.
They probably wouldn’t be able to be X out like the Wyze app ads.
I imagine we would just have a toggle in settings to opt in or out whenever you’d like. You’d get access to lose access instantly with the toggle.
Good points, and yes the hope is to sell the ad space directly and push from our side. If we can do that then we can afford to pay for full cam plus I think. If we have to use an ad network it likely won’t cover the costs of Cam Plus.
Thanks for taking the time to answer questions!
