Would you accept ads for Free Cam Plus Lite or Cam Plus?

How about less features and more bug fixes?! New features bring more bugs, it’s getting old.

Succinct. I don’t disagree.

At the same time, are you encouraged that a company principal is wading into the trenches, thinking out loud among customers about paths forward?

Yes. I wouldn’t want that job.

To be fair, as a former Software QA professional…even “bug fixes” usually bring more bugs. It’s the nature of new code. The job of QA is to make sure to catch and resolve the most high-impact bugs since it’s basically mathematically impossible to catch and fix things down to zero bugs even with just a handful of lines of code. This is part of the reason Wyze has said in AMA’s in the past that they limit adding new features to old products unless there is a high-impact bug to address, and instead try to leave them alone to be stable.

But with the App (and many of the cameras), there will almost always be ongoing changes anyway, so there is no reason to avoid adding new features that are mostly app-specific when they’re always going to be doing monthly changes to the app regardless.

That’s not to say that they don’t still need to continue addressing bug fixes in the app (and other products/firmware). Of course they need to keep doing that. I am just saying there isn’t really a reason to avoid adding new features in the app when it will always have changes every month no matter what.

Despite statements to the contrary, Wyze doesn’t seem like it has a formal group testing its releases. Some of the really bad bugs I see, won’t get past any competent test group. It’s just the developers “testing” their own code. And relying on beta testers to spot their mistakes.

Yes. Got a V4 cam and have no intention of buying a subscription. That was kind of a rude surprise when I bought it and found out.

Not to stray too much from the current topic, but what’s the antecedent to your “[t]hat”? I bought several Cam v4s last year and have been pleased with their no-subscription features and performance using microSD cards (aside from not actually having “free” Person Detection). I think they’re pretty great cameras, especially when they’re on sale.

No. There are far too many ads invading the internet. When I go to a website I want to see the website. Active Ads are the worst. They interrupt reading or browsing.

How many months are “months”? Hummingbirds are getting closer in migration and I want a few for my existing Wyze cameras…?

Just checked on this! Looks like inventory is just about to hit our warehouse now, so should be another 1-2 weeks.

Can’t wait!! I asked over the phone with a rep last week and they said that it wasn’t something they offered, so I very much look forward to buying a couple of the lenses by themselves :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

G’day Dave, I really think Wyze are dancing around the major issues and shortfalls of the app. I have spent a lot of time researching solutions and then buying equipment to setup and demo. Then the duplication of functionality in the first 3 tabs which blocks you from accessing the same content as a free user but not in the other tab… It’s non-sensical!
How do you think you get users to upgrade!! Make the app better and easier to use & navigate. Add extra buttons for “view 6m cloud recordings” to promote customers upgrading. Not making life hell going from screen to screen.
Not having a dig at you mate just the frustration of putting in a lot of work for demos to clients but too overwhelming as even overwhelms us! .

Events tab (#2) makes sense. Thumbnails of events are great and should preview stored recordings for free / paid customers. But if I’m demoing this to clients and getting constant popups and unable to demonstrate simple playback, without tapping 10-20 times to then find the video, it becomes embarrassing… Why are you crippling this?

The same with the 3rd tab “Monitoring” . I have to scroll for hours left and right. You already have a skip / jump button < & > in the home > device tab. There is no reason for this monitoring tab to exist, and there is no reason to cripple its functionality and not “junmp” to the next video footage when event-based recording is enabled.

I have to then go back to home, devices, device 3, click… Wait :watch:… Then click view playback, wait, and find what day and time we saw the thumbnail. Then change tabs again to view the next thumbnail!!

The pinch and zoom is EXCELLENT to expand the timeline under View Playback. Shame you cannot create a SINGLE hybrid page that shows free users and premium users - how to effectively and quickly access the playback functionality of the recordings on the device or across multiple devices (Eufy have grouped cameras as a new feature for 12 months where motion over one camera can be linked to another camera 5sec in advance and footage stitched together.

Why would Wyze compete in this space by only showing a a static photo with play button showing “send us more money” popups??? Makes no sense.

Do you understand where I am going?
This has been the single biggest reason most of our clients go with Eufy or competitor quotes. Being unable to setup a proof of concept, show clients it in action, etc. and have them play around with the interface for a week to see the (current steep) learning curve (due to the clumsy layout) is really not making Wyze financially viable! Better to spend $800 up front for 4K instead of 1K + subscriptions and know their data is encrypted locally.

Would you please please please consider dropping these restrictions, and then consider having one interface for playback and streaming of devices, and ONLY activate the “event” view, if users select motion recording instead of 24/7 recording, so they can scroll through thumbnails of events that have triggered recording.

At the end of the day, if Wyze are not making it quick and easy to review footage, things will likely be missed and system eventually not used by clients.

Example 5. Under “Events” You show a series of still images of each event that has occurred. I see so many over-exposed - too bright or too dark photos. Why does the software not say "that is over exposed, take snapshot 1sec later, or where green box / motion / human is detected ?? That would be a much better screenshot to show of an event triggering a recording. Save you having to watch it to find only a shadow moving, or insects buzzing, etc.

Plus the other thing that makes no sense and I have given feedback on before. If you show event recording type as audio / movement in two areas, why don’t you show that same info in 3rd location? - under View Playback too?? Makes no sense to have to go to a different area to determine and filter which were noise or movement triggered events, so I can filter them out and scroll thru fewer videos in live view.

I don’t know. But all 3 need squashing into one, and events hidden if continuous recording is enabled.

THEN adverts would be an acceptable idea for consumers, businesses, and charities we deal with.
AND if you want to hook people to premium m then give them FREE premium for 3 months with a device purchase! What better way to entice people into a subscription than giving 3m free after purchasing sensors, cameras, devices etc…?

Thanks for your time and energy going into the forums. Cheers mate

Apparently Copilot is highly renowned by truck drivers as it being the best option to go for.
I used to use it when Google Maps was so flakey in the early 2000’s, but so much has changed since then. Just the lifting of data restrictions in our area has made such a difference…

No subscription. One off payments and annual E for live data, like Tom Tom and other mapping companies for traffic data. $8-$9 and over 15 years later am still able to reinstall and download maps for my region (AU & NZ).
Cheers!

PS. Back on topic… Wyze should be no external adverts. Just give all essential features to view and review footage. No restricting and crippling of tabs 2 & 3, to only view static images…

Developers clearly don’t frequent these forums, and clearly don’t understand how to incentivise their client base. Give them something convenient, quick and responsive, and show the VALUE you get for your upgrade.

Cheers!

Any updates on when we can order the lens brackets by themselves yet? I keep checking the store online, but nothing yet.

If I’m paying any amount for anything I don’t want to see ads.

I agree with you. That is why I have not been to a movie theater in decades.

It took several firmware updates but they finally fixed the notification problem. Hurray!

I know that RTSP has been an area of development focus recently, and I appreciate seeing the updates about that. What updates can you provide about features affecting multiple/shared-access users and when users might expect to see improvements with that? The Multiple Users' Permissions for Shared Users topic continues to see activity, including customers saying they’re leaving Wyze over this.

As I sit here reading what you wrote I’m in the same boat as you. I’ve paid for everything including the subscription since the beginning of wyze, and if they are going to force me into ads that we all know will be popping up when you need to look at your cameras in an emergency situation, then that will be the last straw. I feel that wyze needs to just be done with all the different options and go to a subscription base only platform. With everything that my cameras miss constantly because they jump through time and somehow still only record 10 to 15 seconds then go into cool down mode, I’m going to be jumping of the wyszr boat gangplank as soon as I find something better.
