Come back Parker! We miss you.
Love these, thank you!! I especially like the fake rock. If we make this remind me and Iāll make sure you are one of the first to get one from the Wyze team.
And you still enlisted in the navy
Mailbox would be cool but super difficult to find a style that would appeal to a large audience. We will do some research, itās possible. Also would love to make it work with Robot vac.
haha always love you @carverofchoice! Some very cool ideas here! And I think you will be very happy about some recent roadmap decisions we made the last few weeks haha. Gonna take some time, but weāre gonna deliver.
Didnāt see any blood. I signed up in peacetime. I wasnāt a corpsman. I was an avionics tech. Electrical shock was our only hazard. Never had a chance to kill anyone for which I am thankful.
Robovac would check the mailbox?
Cool.
I would say a brand new updated Robot Vacuum! That thing is in a need of a massive overhaul. Having a camera in it that can do AI obstacle avoidance, learn YOUR space and act accordingly. It would also be fun to send it on a mission if you need it to check on something down low and youāre away from home.
Absolutely will.
Why not steal some other ideas while youāre at it?
I am? How is that a bird thing?
The Red Cross Blood Donor App actually has a āselfieā feature for donors to encourage others. I havenāt used that feature, but that app is actually one of my favorites because itās so well done, works reliably, and is continually being improved by their development team.
That reminds me of another idea I had a couple of months ago while on a road trip with pets in the back seat: āSomeone should make a seat-mounted camera that can stream to the vehicleās display(s) so that a driver can easily glance over and check on kids and/or pets in the backā¦.ā
Probably someone already does. Iām just not that fancy.
That still makes me think of KVJās signature.
Thatās one of my primary reasons for wanting this. I also want to do something like, āHey, Google, have the Wyze SentryVac⢠go check the dogās bowl to see if it still has food in it.ā
Or maybe it would require Wyze to develop their own virtual assistant, WyzeAssā:trade_mark:.
@WyzeDave, when should we expect another founders message? I actually enjoy reading those, especially if the news for 2025 is something other than another āYear of the Cameraā.
Also, thanks for being accessible and contributing directly to the Forum recently! I really like seeing this type of engagement!
Agreed, on all of this. Itās okay if a founders letter isnāt end of December. They can be any time. I still enjoy them. Theyāre also really useful for us volunteers to refer people to and list as a source/reference from time to time. It would be great to get a new one since the last one was December 2023.
I screwed my L bracket into my window frame and it was slightly too high to view my community mailbox. This why I just positioned it upside down and in the App flip it 180 degrees.
Great work-around.
I would start by fixing the wyze watches that are completely bricked across all the post here. No need to get cameras if your other products take a nose dive. Theres been zero efforts to address your customer concerns. How bout fixing tht first?
When did you last attempt to pair the Watch? Please note that several users in a relevant topic are reporting successful pairing now, and I have personally confirmed that itās also working for me. (I actually deleted and re-paired my Watch several times just so I could share a relevant screen grab.)
What about a cam in a lamp or outdoor light post with a shade like on patio tables. Or even in a pstio table shade itself? Or in an outdoor patio heater. Another one is a dual cam for a camp site for a tent. Have it pan scan and have 2 cameras facing opposite directions with small built in lights and motion detection. I really like the mailbox idea especially. Iāve wanted to do this for a long time but I was thinking of doing it with a medium sized parcel box. I had ideas of putting a doorbell czm, a miniature cam or just a cam above the box somewhere out of reach but with the box in sight.
First. GREAT question. Thank you for asking it.
Second, wonderful comments and suggestions.
Third: I want a Wyze cam that separates the lens from the body. I want the lens to be connected to the body with a 18+" Ribbon cable. I want as discrete a camera view/recording as possible. I want the tape over and paint the ribbon cable to blend completely into the background. Because I want to put a very small lens on the top of my garage door opening, and on each side of the garage door opening frame, looking across the opening, when the door is closed. I want three views of whatās outside my garage and driving past my closed garage door and wandering around there. The size of the body is not important, because its hidden in a box, under a rock, other side of a wall - OUT OF SIGHT. No one is making something like this. I canāt even think of all the 10 million applications for this.
As improbable as this sounds, its getting more and more dangerous to open your door without knowing who and what exactly is on the other side. Watch enough YT videos and you will see police unlawfully entering homes and pulling citizens to the outside and arresting them. Yes, once they get to court, its usually dismissed as unlawful, but you want to get to court to find it was unrighteous? The moral to the story is donāt open the door or talk to the police, but we need to know its āthemā out there. A dedicated monitor for a camera is a MUST HAVE. One could save your life. Seriously.
I am updating my own post so it remains in context with what I have already said.
Maybe this will not happen to you, but is it worth the risk, if you can avoid it?
- Open your door, and cops are likely to stick their foot inside to prevent you from closing. Try closing and they will claim assault on officer. If it happens, ask them to remove their foot, and then say NOTHING else. Do not give your name, do not answer questions. Stand there, attempting to prevent them from looking inside, with your body/foot bracing to inhibit them from pushing past you. Your 4th amendment that they will violate protects you INSIDE YOUR HOME. Stand in your doorway, where they can reach you and they are likely to pull you outside where they have control, and you have none.
- What I means by ānot just who but whatā is they may be there in war-gear ready to wage it on you. Long guns, and their dogs - and some canines too.
- NEVER TALK TO POLICE. NEVER OPEN YOUR DOOR FOR THEM. Stand inside, and if you choose to talk, talk through your door. If they claim to haev a warrant, insist they slide it under the door or hold it up to a window. NEVER believe their claim/word they have it. IF they have one, they are not going to ask, they are going to break down your door, because legally they can and they have fun.
One of the video categories growing rapidly on YT is cop-watching. People that see traffic stops, or accidents or dozens of other incidents involving police. Police are fighting transparency and people capturing their unruly actions (often abuse and illegal) by lobbying their legislature to restrict the distance. A āthrow-downā camera that could be moved close, sticks or sets on the ground ~10-15 feet within the voices and could be panned and tilted to catch the action would have a growing customer base. I think, soon, we will see 'expendable" streaming cameras that can be attached, tossed, left behind to collect events. Sort of like a GoPro, but not as durable so less expensive but automatically rights itself when kicked over.
Interesting comments! Whatās your āred lineā re embedded cams? What should we not do even if weāre able?
