Update on Wyze Web View

Quick update: We’ve pushed a fix that significantly improved connection stability since our last post. The team is continuing to work on further improvements.

Grid View is still temporarily disabled while we validate stability. We’ll share a timeline for re-enabling it once we’re confident in the data.

We hear the feedback on camera filtering and on the experience for users with larger camera setups. More to share on that soon.

Keep the feedback coming, it’s genuinely shaping what we prioritize.

I was actually SHOCKED to find that your team has allowed this to go on for more than 24 hours now without rolling back the update. Most of us, including myself, feel like this makes you unreliable. We can’t count on you to do what’s right. In this case it’s to admit your “update” was never ready to go live.

I think I’ve bought my LAST Wyze camera. I think I need a replacement option that is more reliable. Trust was mentioned above by another user. You can’t earn that back by telling us to stay tuned, roll back the update so we don’t have to experience even ONE more day of this.

And the fact that our posts were merged from a different topic with different title is conveniently located at the end of their post. Maybe should have included that in your “gathering”. Do I need to make a condescending picture for you too?

Don’t care if Wyze approves or doesn’t. Sometimes a wyze cam isn’t the right fit, especially for a “frugal” consumer somehow spending $700 on them.

This forcing all cameras on web view at the same time, most cameras will time out and makes it worthless, let us choose what cameras what we want to see in web view, this layout is worthless and makes me want to cancel my plus account. the only reason i have a plus account is to see select cameras on web view from my desktop

[Mod Note]: Your post was merged to this service Wyze News announcement topic for better visibility to Wyze.

With the web view debacle and the rise in price of a subscription, let’s talk about what other options are out there. Other cams, prices and features. That ought to get the attention of the WYZE deadbeats

Same here. I cannot even log in on the web view.. The app is still working though.

so webview is just down completely now? cant even log in

I had the screen up and monitoring my new truck, and about 10 minutes ago the screen closed.

Now it won’t even open up!

What a cruel April Fools joke!

That’s my current experience, as well. I briefly see this message:

Then it redirects to the pre-login landing page.

I use MS Edge to stream my Wyze portal, but I was just automatically logged off and not allowed to log back in via MS Edge. I was only able to log in via Chrome. I can’t say enough bad things about this company.

seems to be back up now

Thanks for reporting that. I’m glad it’s working for you. At the moment, I’m still getting the same error message + redirect home.

I have a theory that whoever is in charge of the software/firmware team either got the job thanks to nepotism or knows something the owners don’t want made public.
Because I have never worked at a company with this many issues that hired on talent.

Only one company I worked for had a similar level of ineptitude, and the lead programmer was married to the owner’s daughter. It was just a continual joke with the website; he only “developed” one app for the sales team to enter orders while out, and in the 5 years I was there, I was paid well, so I stayed. It never worked properly.
everyting about this gives me deja vu

Yeah this thing BLOWS NOW! The old one was better than this one. I do not need to view every camera I have and there is no way to choose which cams to view like before. UGH! Now MORE lose connection blah blah blah

I finally tried the new web portal.

I know they said the grid is temporarily disabled, so I knew I wouldn’t be able to test that yet. My initial reaction was frustration that it was trying to load every single one of my cameras all at once and this caused some issues because I added over 60 cameras

I wanted to go into the camera drop down as normal and select just the 9 to 12 cameras I usually have selected on the old interface, but that drop down didn’t seem to do anything at all in seemed pretty pointless.

I was hoping that events would at least have audio sound streaming now, but I was pretty disappointed that that hasn’t made it into the updates even though it is something that has been highly requested by everybody since the original launch of webview forever ago. I would have thought that getting audio to stream on the events would have been a top priority and been implemented by now. I really wish that I didn’t have to check events on my phone just to be able to hear the sound. I think that’s a pretty big deal That should be one of the top priorities after getting the cameras to connect properly.

I saw that there is a survey and filled it out. I think one thing that would make the web portal really cool to me besides the things I already mentioned above (being able to select which cameras to stream, and listen to audio on events, and download events), where you asked for ideas that would make it really awesome, I said it would be cool if I could select a group of cameras and be able to do the multi-cam timeline. View for events just like we can do in the monitoring tab with up to four cameras all at once. And to go a step above that, if you set it up to be able to follow a person detection on a group of cameras like just my outdoor cameras, have it show each event of a person detection, basically following that person around with camera events. That would be really cool. I know that’s very Hollywood, but if you figure out a way to do that, I think it would be awesome.

I will check the system again once the grid is re-enabled. Right now it is too chaotic for me, because all of my main cameras are scattered throughout the entire list of 60 cameras, so I can’t view them all at once up at the top like I would want to. Interestingly, it did seem like all of the cameras that are currently offline, it automatically sorted them down to the bottom. I appreciated that, Though it did kind of make it hard to figure out which cameras were where. I really wish there was a way to reorganize cameras in a certain order. Hopefully the grid view will allow something like that?

It’s currently not as usable for me in the current form as it was in the previous form. Hopefully the grid view will improve that. I haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, but we’ll see.

Well it’s PARTIALLY BACK for me to view 6 panes.

But there is a tremendous waste of white space.

Did anyone snap a pic of “gridview” when it worked?

I had resigned my self to viewing 5 panes plus a digital clock

but I’d like to get rid of the white space.

Still a BAD choice to force whatever version on us WITHOUT asking unless it’s a valid security flaw.

Yep, same here. At least I can select the cameras that load now and the choppiness seems to be resolved.

@jen3494 The point to get from all of this “trying to improve it” is that they are doing their testing on the LIVE platform rather than a parallel beta-testing platform with limited scope and impact. I don’t think I’ve heard of this from any other company. It would be fine if they were doing that to their own home labs, but this is a public company with more than two users.

@WyzeWendy I think the bigger point you should be taking from all this is that you should not be doing your beta testing on your public, live system! Acquire/assemble beta testers; set up a parallel site/portal for beta testing the latest features; set up a bug submission process (a process, by the way, that can be currently improved for the live system as well); then, once everything is smoothed-out on your beta site, then and only then do you push it out to the rest of us unfortunate souls that decided to depend on your infrastructure. It’s appreciated that you are finally listening to our frustrations, and it’s unbelievably appreciated that you actually pipe-up with input on our conversations here, but none of this would be necessary if your company did testing and roll-out properly.

@michael1776 This is a search I did for Canadian-based camera manufacturers/resellers. There are lots of good cameras out there. Wyze has made me see my investment in their products as another expensive lesson-learned.
