Update on Wyze Web View

Hi Wyze friends,

We’re rolling out an updated Wyze Web View experience on March 31st, and we wanted to give you a heads-up on what’s new.

What’s new in Web View

In addition to your familiar Live Camera Gallery, we’re introducing Grid View, a new layout that supports up to 9 cameras per page. You can also reorder cameras to customize each page however works best for you.

We’re also spotlighting two features on the Events page that are worth knowing about if you have an active Wyze Security Plan:

  • Preview on hover: Hover over any Event thumbnail to preview the clip instantly, without opening the full player.

  • Advanced filtering: Filter by day, time window, or event type to find exactly what you’re looking for, faster.

A note on our last release

Our previous Web View release had issues. We received feedback that parts of the experience weren’t working as intended, and we rolled it back while the team made improvements. We should have communicated that more clearly, and we recognize the confusion it caused. We own that.

Thank you to everyone who reported issues, shared screenshots, and explained how you use Web View. That feedback directly shaped this release, and we didn’t take it lightly.

We’ll be in this thread reading your feedback after launch. Please keep it coming.

I’ll put it plainly….
If this new release does not fix some bugs, then many customers and I are done.

I have been using Wyze Cameras since 2020. Yesterday I installed (2) two new out-of-the-box Wyze 4 cameras. In addition to these two, I have 8 more, plus a doorbell. These are split across three different wireless networks (three locations).

Right now, I can see 7 of the 11 in the live view on the PC.

I can see most, not all of them, on my iPhone. I say most because they constantly drop in and out all day long.

Of the 7, 2 (two) are connected and showing time (this is one way to know the cameras are working).

The other 5 are showing the infamous “Web Connect Failed”.

All of the cameras have current firmware updates. As I stated, all are on three robust wireless networks.

I have restarted them. Many, many times. I have powered them completely down and then back up many, many times.

Some have SD Cards, some do not. That seems to be a non-factor.

I am a CAM Pro Unlimited Customer.

I have restarted and rebooted the wireless networks (remember there are three different ones in play here, all running Google Fiber and blistering fast and..yes, the signals are well managed).

I have tried to view these cameras on three (3) different PC’s (Dell, Lenovo, Asus) running on three different networks, using Windows 10, Windows 11, Mac OS, and Linux with Opera, Chromium, Chrome, Brave to no avail. Note that all of the PC’s are running on a hard wire.

There is really no point in having a security camera that one cannot actually see.

I have again today opened another ticket (this will be three or four) to see if anyone cares to address this problem.

Unless this is completely and 100% resolved and I can get some solid performance, I am going to trash every Wyze device.

I also have in my ecosystem Ring devices (cameras, doorbells), Simplisafe devices (Alarms, Cameras), and Cove Connect / Eufy devices (alarms, sensors, and cameras). None, and I mean none of these have these issues. I cannot remember the last time I had a connectivity issue.

So, to all the Wyze wizards… You must get this problem corrected. Otherwise, what is the point?

Lastly, to add some additional perspective here. I am 60 years old. I have 30 years of experience in the software industry. I have managed and led very large software and technical support teams. Interfaced with testing departments and developers…. collected and drove customer matrix to the quality teams at many companies.

None, and I mean none, of the companies I worked for would ever have put out this garbage.

Supposedly, tomorrow is the release of a new solution.

We will see.

Their new view viewer didn’t fix a book. It’s the same thing that they had before the old way you could see nine cameras granted, even though they crashed a lot at least you can submit a report and then hit reconnect but this new one all I’m getting is a circle like before they had this if they went back to the old way because people were mad about this new viewer you can’t view nine cameras so you can only be six cameras do you wanna view like the old way you can pick up to nine cameras a view of one page which is Google Chrome the company that sells your personal information and monitors all your web activity everybody should just ask for their money back for the service and for all their cameras and then go out and buy new cameras cause I just ordered 45 cameras from my place they’re coming with no problems like this and they’re giving me a monitor so I can view all cameras on one monitor. I bought 45 Wyze cameras for my other property which has 200 acres and I was gonna put up all over the property, but they went back to Amazon along with the four palm readers. I returned those with they had this browser web viewer. This is BS.

I’m having the same issues as the previous “new version”. As stated before, I keep a tab specific for Wyze view and when I’m working in another tab and want to view the cameras, just spins and sometimes resolves on it’s own or I have to manually refresh. What is the point of having live view when you can’t view it when you need it! I hear a noise outside so I want to investigate and I just get a spinning circles with no view. Again, did you have an open beta so the people that keep your lights on can provide feedback BEFORE you roll this out? If you did, apologies as I did not see it and would be happy to help test.

So you guys killed the old view, forced this “new” web view on us again, and it still has the same busted bugs?

Why can’t we get a simple option to use either the old layout or the new one? I woke up this morning to the new view, and yeah, it works just enough to be annoying, but every time I switch tabs and come back to the Wyze tab, the camera reloads all over again. Sometimes it sits there for minutes with loading circles, other times it just refreshes the feed for no reason.

How does that make any sense for a security camera? If there’s an alert, I shouldn’t have to sit there waiting for the tab to reload just to see what’s happening in real time.

Give people the option to go back to the old layout, because this current setup is garbage. I’m already fed up, and honestly I’m getting close to dumping all my Wyze cameras and moving to a competitor.

sorry wyze i love your products but you guys just cant seem to figure out the web live view its always been the same issues constantly dropping out and needing to be refreshed and now this morning im getting notices that my battery cameras stopped live streaming to save battery well that would be great if they were battery cameras but they are not they are plugged in directly

I’m having the same issue as many others. While always keeping a tab(on a PC) open for monitoring…. I cant switch back and forth anymore after the update. It just lags and I get the spinning circle. Please allow me to go back to the old revision as u did before. Ty

I am convinced that with Wyze the old saying “less is more” is absolutely true, because with more than 9 devices you won’t be able to view any other camera with a satisfactory response time using this new viewer.

The new Mar 31 release of web view is HORRIBLE. Wyze ruined a good thing (once again). The previous version wasn’t all that flexible, but at least it was fast and responsive. With this new version I see a screen full of grey boxes with “Connecting…” in them for several seconds. And if I switch to an enlarged view I can’t just hit ESC to get back to the grid view. Gotta click the little back arrow now.

And when I do go back to the grid view, I have to wait for all the cameras to reconnect before I can see anything. Actually, it doesn’t matter if I’m using GRID view or Overview; it’s the same bad experience with a different color background.

Update: I notice they disabled GRID mode. But OVERVIEW mode is just as bad…

This is extra frustrating for me because I just signed up for Cam Unlimited TWO DAYS ago. Now they’ve ruined the web view and I feel like an idiot for subscribing to unlimited.

Thank you to everyone who reported issues, shared screenshots, and explained how you use Web View. That feedback directly shaped this release, and we didn’t take it lightly.

Apparently you DID take it lightly because it looks like you repeated all the same mistakes AGAIN.

I’d also like to add while viewing the feed (when it actually works) it’s now choppy and stutters. No, it’s not my network nor IP provider (fiber). Version yesterday worked fine, no stuttering when viewing. Come on Wyze, do better!!

I do indeed see some improvements over the last attempt at an update. Like many others, I find the amount of time it takes for all the cameras to seem to reconnect when returning to the main screen after viewing an individual camera is a wee bit bothersome, but something I could likely get used to. I guess I was spoiled before. The issue I find right now is how the video fits the frame. When I am looking at one individual camera (not full screen mode) in the bottom right corner I do not see the time stamp at all. When I switch to full screen mode, the time stamp is there, but less than half of the top of the numbers are visible.

Im so annoyed with this. I’ve kept web view up on my computer at work during the day for years and now it’s totally un-usable for my use case for a few reasons. I cant fathom that i’d have to ditch the whole ecosystem (monitoring, all 8 cameras, ect) just over this update but like viewing the 2 cameras i want on a small window in web view without having to reload them every single time I open the window is 90% of the use I have for the cameras and none of that works now.

My window is on a PC but it’s small, like a cellphone size, so I can pop it up in a corner and quickly check things out then go back to work. In this smaller view there is no way to include ONLY the 2 cameras i want to see. I also can’t even re-order them so the 2 i want are on top of one another. They are actually separated by 5 other cameras (which show nothing but a lock symbol because i dont pay for cam + on them) so i have to scroll every single time. And wait for them to load. There is no ‘‘quick pop up the window and check my house’ because i have to sit there for a minute and wait for the first camera to load, then scroll all the way to the bottom and then wait for that second one to load.

I hope you guys roll this back ASAP i really dont want to change out all my cameras. I was just about to buy another too. Very disappointing. I know my situation is probably an edge case but you never know how people are using your products and one small edge thing might just be the entire reason they use you over someone else. New features should be rolled out as OPTIONS, never totally remove a good working thing that people are happy with leaving no choice but to use a new crap version.

I see here that we still have the overview mode, which allows us to continue with the old view or something very close to it, and we also have the gridview mode, which is the mode with the limit of 9 cameras and pagination. If I can continue with the overview mode, then that’s fine by me.

Add my name to the list of users that feel the last UI was working better than this new release. Once again, WYZE took another step back.

PAR!

For me the “old new” web view was an absolute disaster for my uses. The “old” was awesome. This “new new” version is an improvement over the old new, but it’s still a huge step backwards compared to the old. However, I think I can deal with it. I’ll give it about a week or two before deciding whether to move away from Wyze. (I have 40 Wyze cameras and quite a few other Wyze devices.)

I thought that adding my.wyze, com to the “Always keep these sites active” setting in Chrome would fix the stream-reload issue when switching tabs in Chrome, but it didn’t, thought perhaps they reload a little faster. The web view somehow knows when a tab isn’t active. “Memory Saver” was already off.

the more i use it this morning the worse it shows that nothing was truly addressed other than the option to view more than 4 screens that you guys tried to push last time

Man as this day goes on im just more and more disappointed this is completely un-usable. After years of using web view its become habitual to pop open this window througout my work day to check on my house/dog and every time I try to do it im filled with rage because Im unable to do something that has worked perfectly for years.

Some on here mentioned we ‘kind of have the old version still’ with overview mode - that is entirely false in my usage.

Put it back, im begging you.

No it’s not the same at all for my use case unfortunately. Complete disaster
