Time lapse V4 not working?

Asking if anyone else has issues creating a timelapse on the V4.

If i create a time start and finish etc., it never shows a schedule or runs a timelapse. I can click Start and the Stop appears, but exiting the timelapse page, removes Stop and falls back to start.

Again no schedule. Staying on page after clicking start seems to act like its running, but a short test timelapse never appears.

Tested OGs and they work.:person_shrugging:

I just tried out a time lapse on one of my V4 cams. I set it for one hour, 3 second captures. It ended up being 227MB in size and 39 seconds long. I have a 256GB Samsung Pro Endurance SD card in the cam.

Appreciate the effort, I don’t know, slide over to timelapse, click timelapse, set times today a couple hours, a couple seconds go back nothing there but start button. No schedule, no stop nothing.

I’m having the same issue. Time lapse was working fine on v4 since I got it three days ago. Suddenly it’s not working anymore. When I hit start and leave the screen, and come back, it has stopped recording.

I’m also seeing this same thing….. sometimes it works fine other times I get nothing. I bought the V4 specifically for this feature….

I found that it stopped working for me on the recently updated Android app version 3.7.0.695. Rolling back to 3.6.7.694 and it’s working again.

For whatever it’s worth, I just tried a brief time lapse with a Cam v4 on firmware version 4.52.9.3415 using the Android Wyze app version 3.7.0.695, and that recorded and downloaded as expected, so I’m not quite sure what the issue is, but it may be worth looking into.

Thanks for the responses folks. After speaking to support, they are sending me a new camera. But I didn’t think this was the issue. I suspected that it is an android version issue as @sshonweb mentioned.

So I tried the app on my iPad (iOS) with the ā€œproblematicā€ camera, and it seems to be working.

Looking at past posts, this issue has been recurring few times. Not sure why they haven’t looked into it.

Because I don’t use iOS devices, I appreciate your taking the time to post about your experience with that. I think that provides even more evidence that this is an issue with the Android app, as discussed in a related topic.

I’l also note that a new Android app version was officially released today, but it appears to be the same version (at least according to number) that @sshonweb described using in the other topic. Google Play Store isn’t yet offering me that version, so I haven’t been able to install and attempt and time lapse with that one.

I’m glad Wyze Support is taking care of you with the camera replacement, but I agree that the hardware isn’t the issue. As I mentioned in the other topic (linked above), I’m trying to see if I can get someone at Wyze to look into this issue, as I suspect (based on @sshonweb’s reporting) that this is still broken in today’s release, and they might need to consider doing one of their ā€œhotfixā€ app releases for Android.

It’s something else, unless they want to send me four V4s.

None do timelapse. Most lock up after pressing start or one says stop time must be after the start time, even if stop is the next day.

If was of major importance to me, I’d try reset etc. but right now, it’s not. Android, beta.

I’m having the same issue I have two wyze V4 in my garage and I do woodworking time lapses, and they haven’t been working for a little over a month

I have two of their V4 cameras, I use them in my garage for woodworking time lapse videos, they haven’t been working for a little over a month so I think I’m done with wyze I’m definitely done with GoPro

Wyze supposedly addressed this issue with a new app release:

I have not yet taken the time to personally test this. As I’ve noted in other related topics about this issue, I’ve been able to schedule, execute, and download time lapse recordings on Cam v4 even when the time lapse schedule appears to be interrupted when I navigate back to the Timelapse screen before the recording is supposed to run. Hopefully this new fix resolves the lingering issue with what the UI has been incorrectly showing and the actual recording/downloading issues that other users have been describing for a while.

Hot fix did not fix the issue.

Any word on a new fix?

Just wait or join Beta, 3.8.0 (b705) seemed to have fixed mine.

I only tested one of three, don’t use it often here.

Hotfix 4.52.9.3415 did not solve my timelapse issues on V4.

It is worth noting that SHORT (~1h) timelapes did work (I tested 3 times), but on LONG periods (10h+) it simply disapeared at some point (I tested another 3 times), leaving no recording and no schedule. This is probably why many people report that it is working, as it seems to depend on duration.

One hypotesis is that this issue is caused by an interruption on the internet connection, which is hard to monitor if it happened over long periods.

But I just discarded the hypotesis of power loss, since the last test I did was with a powerbank (it consumed about 3,000mah over 10h in case you are interested)

I am on plugin (?) version 3,7.0.17 and Android. (my app shows as ā€˜plugin version’, not sure if it is a translation issue. Is this the app or firmware?)

I just joined the Beta program to try a new firmware. I am waiting for it to become available on my account and then will run another 10h+ test.

Just to try to clarify a few things, I believe ā€œhotfixā€ is terminology Wyze uses when they release a production app version outside of the typical release cycle, and the latest Android ā€œhotfixā€ version is 3.7.8.702. In Android, you can check your app version at least two different ways:

  1. Long-press the launcher icon for the Wyze app, then select  App info from the pop-up menu. Scroll to the bottom of the App info screen (depending on your Android version, it may be necessary to tap a to expand), and the version should be displayed there.
  2. In the Wyze app, tap  Account āžœ About. The app version should be beneath the Wyze logo at the top.

The Plugin Version is something you see if you navigate to a device’s  Settings āžœ Device Info. That’s not the same as the app or firmware version but can be helpful.

I believe the firmware version for the camera itself is what you noted in your first paragraph, and that particular version was released in May. A newer version has been released to production since then, and I don’t see a beta firmware newer than the production version.

The newest beta app (3.8.0.b705) was released about a week ago, and that’s something you could try once Google Play Store offers it to you. If you’re still experiencing problems with that particular app, then posting to the existing Forum topic that corresponds with your app version (in Wyze News or Beta, depending on the specific app version) might be helpful to the developers. If you can generate a log and share the Log ID with your post, then that could be even more helpful, I think.

I’m a couple hours in on a test of 10 plus hours timelapse and it hasn’t disappeared yet with using Beta 3.8.0 (b705). Will report back after or if it finishes.
