These connection issues are getting ridiculous

No, as part of the firmware update process, the camera will restart on its own. The restart seems to be what is causing the issue. That is why we are seeing this happen with people who did not update also.

Again, all my cameras are working fine after the update to 4.36.11.8391

I realize this does not help, but it is proof the firmware didn’t break MY cameras.

Just got all Cams back on by rebooting both my iPad and iPhone. I have 11 cams -all versions from pan cam to pan v3 and v3 cams

All cameras working here now, even those that did not work before. They started working without rebooting.

Hey @WyzeJasonJ, has the restart issue been solved? I have all my cameras on a daily reboot schedule and I hope that when I wake up in the morning they’ll be all online.

I believe so, I have restarted a few of mine to test that they come back. I am still following everything throughout the communities and things are trending positive.

people in this link were complaining of certain problems, January 6, January 10 etc. Was the restart triggering the loss of live view a slow burning event that blew up on the 17th or is there other problems that are unrelated to it.

The issue that happened yesterday started yesterday, I apologize for not knowing the exact time but it was approx 1:30 AM PT. The issues that existed prior to that are probably different. This is why when the outage happens I try to route talk of that specific issue over to the official thread so the others stay on topic with the issue that was originally being talked about.

I will sift back through this thread and see if there is anything we are not currently working on that I need to report.

My pan cam V3 went down the day before.
I’ll have to check regarding “Auto Update”.

I thought it was just the cam. Then I got the Wyze update app warning. Now I see it affected your PC V2, also.

The issue only affects my Pan Cam v3 (lucky me?). But I’d still have to go outside (frigid temps) & climb up there just to play with SD card or replace it ?

Not a happy camper.

Hope things get solved soon, for both of us.

My v3 campan still not working properly. Not rotating now

I just posted again and created new topic. Having the same issues. It’s ridiculous at this point. We had an incident with police involved and couldn’t produce video! The cop thought we were lying because he saw all the cameras. It’s a huge safety issue.

Our problems started from the beginning. At least once 6 months ago. Maybe longer. We ordered shortly after they became avaliable. It’s NOT weather related.

I have suffered the same connection issues as many others here. But I think I found at least a solution for my connection issues by pure luck.
My Google Pixel 7pro camera is using the Wyze app version 2.48.1 (381). My cam pans v3 are all updated to v 4.50.4.725. I’m on a Verizon Wifi router and an extender. Keeping cameras within 50 feet of either one.
My problems were that even cameras even within 5 feet of Wifi access would either not connect or drop out. So I knew it wasn’t the Wifi signal strength, as I also have Wyze plugs at the same distances of 50 feet that worked fine.
Yesterday, while pulling my hair our, I was reviewing all the settings on the Wyse app and came across a setting under APP SETTINGS. In that menu is a slide switch for RUNNING IN THE BACKGROUND. This has always been set to on, because it is explained it is needed to keep receiving notifications, etc. So I just figured that I would shut it off since the cams didn’t hardly connect anyway, I didn’t want the app using battery all the time.
Well, I turned it off. Upon doing that, I went back to my GROUP of cameras and it blew my mind that they now worked perfectly. Loading up almost immediately. The group of 9 cameras, older and brand new, all came up within 2 seconds. Today, they all still work perfectly. No stuttering when operating the motor controls or anything else.
I continue to get notifications as usual, without the annoying notification that the app is running in the background.
Hope this helps someone,

EricKoehler
That is interesting!
I have a pixel 6a and that setting has always been off on my phone.
What was the other setting “Enable Hardware Decoder” set to?
Mine is OFF and the Theme is “Light”.

@EricKoehler @muerte33

That is interesting cause I do recall recently going through settings to cut down on notifications during the times of these issues. I have a Galaxy S21 that currently is on Light Theme and both other options turned off but still receive notifications that I want. Not sure if it was coincidently after re-installing app at the time but still worth looking into.

I set it to hardware decoder. I tried both settings with no difference.

Light theme

I got another one for you. I was setting up a rule requiring a geofence. So I turned on location services to “allow all the time” . Bingo, instant problems connecting with cameras. Even those 5 ft away from a Wi-Fi access point. Turned off location services and all cams load in one or two seconds. It seems that anything requiring the app to run in the background kills connections to the cameras. They’ve really got some issues with this app.
