I just (stupidly) thought that Wyze couldn’t mess up the update yet again.
I did check each camera separately after installing the update and each individual one worked ok. The problem is when all my 10 cameras are on at the same time.
I am one of those people who updates one camera at a time. As the OP said there was no issue updating individual cameras so I went ahead and updated all my cameras. That’s when the monster reared its ugly head.
We all love Wyze (except Reolink fans) but Wyze needs to step up and get their crap together.
I guess having a random mix of models has helped me avoid the issue.
I also have the auto live stream disabled on the favorites view, wonder if that could be part of it (I know for a while when I did have it enabled it messed things up in the app for me making some cams seem unresponsive).
Other guess is that this new “verified view” and/or whatever other security protocols they’ve been adding, there is some limit of concurrent connections they forgot to tweak. Or perhaps some way that NAT is interfering that they didn’t realize. I believe my two Panv3s and one v4 are the only ones using the new protocols at this point, so I haven’t exceeded the apparent limit of 4 or 5. The rest are OGs.
These failures are a hallmark of Wyze. And when they bork your brand new camera with THEIR firmware, they’ll do nothing, as I have had that experience. As more and more of my 2-3 year old cameras die, I am moving away from Wyze. They had great potential, but the QA is severly lacking, but should not be with the millions in profit they make. You’ll find no solutions, just Wyze groupies talking down to you.
I thought twice before I updated the firmware and then tested each camera after updating it. I didn’t expect the error to show up only after all my cameras had been updated.
I should have known better as an update last year actually bricked two of my cameras and I couldn’t rescue them.
It seems that the cameras are generally reliable and it is only when Wyze decide to do something to “improve” them that they mess up.
I think it is time to leave Wyze and go with a different camera supplier.
Yeah I tossed that in there as I know a lot of the security changes are related to that, but I’m not sure exactly what was changed in these firmwares that causes them to require a new minimum app version.
It is odd in my case where I only have 3 cams with firmware requiring the new app (the rest are OGs) but I can still see the bug, which makes me think it is more app related, but who knows.
Hi all! Let me start by saying .. RUN..FOREST…RUN! If you think about it, every customer always complains about UPGRADES to their devices, cams, vacuums..etc. I have for many years (5++) now with NO problems with my Vacuum and largely because i don’t do any updates. I wouldn’t recommend for any future purchases. IF and when they crap-out, it’s bye-bye. Capt Rob
Same here. I watch from my PC. After the update maybe 3 out of 9 cameras work. I have the Wyze cams V3’s
Now everything is jacked up. I hope they fix all this or I’m switching. And why isn’t there a Wyze rep on here helping us?
