Yet again Wyze is using their entire customer base as beta testers. The firmware made available WILL BREAK ALL YOUR CAMERAS, AND BRICK THE v3 CAMERAS YOU HAVE. Then, when you call for help, they will tell you they can’t issue any warranty requests until the UNRELATED system wide issue is resolved. For a SECURITY CAMERA COMPANY this is absolutely ASININE.
you just better hope you’re not someone who uses these for REMOTE VIEWING, you are completely [Mod Edit]
My V2 and V1 PAN cams have been disabled with the latest upgrades.
The iPad and iPhone applications were recently upgraded too…after playing with this for a while…re-installing…My V1 Pans and V2 Pan cams seem to be disconnecting. I run a WiFi filtered by MAC address front end on ASUS hardware. Been working fine for years…Now today…All PAN cams out…
It’s not the firmware. There is a service advisory. It seems any camera that reboots can’t authenticate, and loading new firmware makes a camera reboot:
Just wait a while, they should fix it and your stuff will work again.
@joeebel You may be able to see them through the live web view for now (if you have cam+ of course ). I can’t see any of mine through the app, but the live web view is still working-ish, my pan cam v2 keeps losing connection, but refresh has been working. Not ideal, but might help for now.
I have a very old V1 that had been offline for months…sitting on the shelf. Plugged it in just to test…same thing. I did not update the firmware…or remove and re-add the camera profile. Stand by…pulling the card.
really wtf wyze. this nonsense made me go order two new wyze cams. then i look in the app at the device info for the two of my cams that went down (v2 & v3) with no live video and see the devices info’s signal strength at three bars and then i look at events and see recorded events from the cams. only the live video is down. so the cams are just blind if you want to see live video? geez after they issue a working update, will most likely ignore any other new updates. really f#ck this.
What a [Mod Edit] JOKE. First they release BETA firmware for their ENTIRE USER BASE, then They LIE about the cause of a MAJOR SYSTEM WIDE outage. It’s not the firmware, it’s the system rejecting the cameras with new firmware. HOW ON EARTH CAN THIS BE FIXED BY THEM? We will ALL need to manually re-add all our cameras once Wyze gets off their ass and fixes this. Just PRAY you don’t have REMOTE cameras you need to drive hours, or take a PLANE FLIGHT to get to.
App 2.48.1(381)
Cam v3 and Cam v2.
Both asked to upgrade to the last firmware 4.36.11.8391 and 4.9.9.2847 accordingly.
Now I can’t connect to cameras. Pushing SETUP to reset the cameras doesn’t solve the issue. I can see devices info and restart the cameras through the app but the video window shows me “device is offline”
And what makes you think Wyze is lying? When you have a product that is totally dependent on Internet based servers, a server issue can and will cause lots of problems.
And for point of reference, I have been running the latest beta for every type of camera I have (V2, V3, Pan V1, Pan V3, V3 Pro, & OG-Tele) since within a few hours of each version being released. Out of almost 50 cameras, every one is working except one old V2 that has a long history of connectivity issues.
As carverofchoice said earlier - wait a while…
No logs…MP4’s recorded and time stamped for today. Please note: I don’t have any “special instructions” for recovering logs off the SDCARD. Note also that alerts still work…Conclusion…
Old APP or new APP, old camera config or a re-add PAN CAM V1 or V2 on either iPhone or iPad, results in same thing. No connection with application…but alerts still function.
I don’t believe Wyze advertise as “security cameras”, but more of a lifestyle accessory. I’m in the video security camera space and I would never use these for high risk viewing/notification. I have 14 at three different locations. Of the 14 I have three various cameras of high risk locations on a true dedicated 24/7 server. Yes, the lag connection is frustrating along with other issues. But the cost vs value is very high and I like that very much.
Wyze did not originally advertise their cameras as “security cameras”, but now does. Bad move in my opinion as no WiFi based camera really qualifies as a serious security camera.
Well, if you are in the video security camera space, you are certainly qualified to name or describe what is or is not a security camera. I would defend your right to say that, if it was necessary to defend you, though, I think its not.
But I believe every thing is relative. Rolling Rock is not good beer, but Rolling Rock is better than no beer. Having any video camera and intending to use it to help with security is better than no video camera.
And there’s that old expression about opinions and everyone has one - everyone has a Wyze camera these days, is what I mean. Having even a Wyze camera is better than no camera. Let’s take it one more step since we are here. Even a bricked by firmware Wyze camera mounted where a kid playing in your yard, a neighbor putting his trash in your garbage can, someone coming up to vandalize your car can see the camera is better than none.
