Its time to Move on from this doorbell. I got a Blink doorbell and though it has its limitations, it works! Im sure Wyze will have to redesign this and release a new model. No way it should take this long to fix this.
Isnât there a beta firmware about to be released?
Once it finishes passing QA it should release to beta.
Great news WyzeJasonJ!
Hopefully this will be the firmware that slays this demon!
@muerte33
I really hope so, this issue has been a tough one and has been going on for awhile.
Iâm sure we all understand coding not easy, and things donât always work like we all want. That said, makes absolutely nonsense to me the tough one excuse. The doorbell worked fairly well when I bought it a year ago. It worked well for another 6 months or so after that, untill a firmware update. The next update that was supposed to fix it, pooched it even more. Obviously, either major changes were done ( compatibility with paid subs??) or Wyze coders have no clue what they doing. It worked before, shouldnât be to hard to make it work again. If indeed âfeaturesâ need to be added, make sure the basic functions of the door bell work first. Right now, they donât. Iâm good with some obscure feature not working 100%, Iâm not good with having a door frame decoration.
Someone earlier in this thread mentioned to permanently set the Doorbell in night mode which did the trick for me. No longer stuck in 3-3 and camera responds a lot faster than Iâm used toâŚ
New doorbell owner here as of the 20th. Heres a problem i have. Your support team didnt have a clue whatâs going on with this when i reached out to them.
They coulda told me firmware was f*%!ed rather than running me on a wild chase of resets and re-logins to try to get it to update to .60. I ended up installing the .38 beta in hopes of tricking it to updateâŚâŚIt worked fine with the firmware that was on it out of the box. Now its trash.
I clicked the replace button on amazon to get a new one. if im wasting a product or time by doing so, tharw fine. The wyze support team who i contacted in trying to figure out why i couldnt update to the firmware shown on the firmware tracker page should have been telling new purchasers of this device that dragons are around that corner.
Its on me for trying to trick it to update with the beta firmware and not accepting no update available at face value. But its on you for not having your support team say âdont do it.â And not having the firmware info page say dont do it/issues existâŚâŚOne cannot expect people to read thru the forums. Especially since every other wyze product i own is mostly flawless.
Heres how you can make it right with meâŚâŚlemme keep the bad one so i can play with updates before i do any updates to the replacement that will be on ancient firmware. Hop on ur sellers console in amazon and mark my replacement as complete so i dont gotta send the old one in. The replacement will be here tomorrow. Im gonna give it a few days since im reading now that theres allegedly a new beta coming with the fix.
They both can go back for a blink. I sadly do not have time for games on something this important in my location to wait for something that should never be broken to be fixed.
I like wyze stuffs. But dang this is bad.
Edit to add: i think theres something to the ac adapter that has an effect on this. I swapped off out my doorbell transformer for a 24v ac 500ma wall wart (previously was used for a thermostat). Guess what. So far it connects every time. I cant claim any form of consistency or stability its only been 3 hoursâŚ.but 24v > 18v that the original transformer was putting out. Anyone have insight?
Thanks, I turned my doorbell cam to ânight mode ONâ, and it worksâŚâŚ albeit in black and white.
@mikerock
I am sorry you had that experience with support, if they gave you a ticket number could i get it from you so i can look into it further for quality control.
Your experience similar to mine. They went as far as asking me to install an third party App on my phone to check the wi-fi signal to the camera. No thank you.
I had mentioned the doorbell was close to the router, the cameras that were on the garage, quite far from router had no such issue. Sad when they know the problem cannot be repaired by us, but make us go around loops.
Yeah itâs not the greatest of âworkaroundsâ but everything else I tried failed. Until support finally comes with a fix I can at least use it againâŚlooking at other doorbells though⌠Have a great day!
Im not sure what you can do for me. The damage is done.
I have a worse functioning doorbell with not even the newest firmware you have listed on the website. Which implies for me the firmware was pulled cuz it does something that makes it worse. But yall forgot or didnt pull the beta firmware that makes a new doorbell cam ownerâs camera much less functional.
Sometimes it catches a person. Sometimes i can walk past it 3 times and get nothing. Sometimes i can live view. Sometimes it just hangs. I can deal with a slow load up for live view. I can deal with the sideways image for a second glitch. I cant deal with not functioning or catching motion in a spot with full wifi signal.
The replacement came today, im about to go swap them out. i dont wanna send the âfirmware-ruinedâ one back to amazon cuz im scared to do any updates on the replacement with ancient firmware that i assume will work perfectly like the other one did before updatingâŚ
What am i supposed to do? Do i trust you guys to get it rightâŚeventually? Do i return em both and throw in the towel? Be a waste of the year of cam plus i purchased for it but its not doing me any good now anyway.
The product has been out for how long? Im seeing wyze drop new products left and right. Looks like quite a bit of active firmware development on the pro version tooâŚdid the humble wired version get forgotten or tossed aside?
I have a ticket number of 2234591 and Log 655506. I was told it was escalated to engineering because it quite literally is an engineering issue.
The whole thing is wrong. Im basically forced to suck it up and deal with it. Accept the chances of another bad or not good firmware, or send em both back, be out the cost of cam plus, and pay more for a different device that i know is gonna work.
The biggest issue with the doorbell, no local storage. I bought one during prime that does, and itâs night and day compared to Wyze. No promises of AI bs, it just works. Notifications are almost instant, and so far nothing has been missed. Detection done in the camera, unlike Wyze. I donât need to pay extra sub to have doorbell detect kids as packages. I have both at the door, and itâs embarrassing for Wyze.
Couldnt care less about AI.
Jus wanna be notified when something happens and see whats happening now
Get something with local storage, bonus if storage not in the camera but on a hub.
Dropped in the amazon replacement and it works like a champ lol. Weird
They basically got a week to drop the magic fix or its going backâŚtruly i have 30 days but i dunno, already boxed up the one the firmware destroyed. If i see something new pops up in the next week ill flash the bad one first to see what happens
I jus cant wrap my head around why theyd leave that version up and downloadable anywhere even in beta if its causing all these issues and returns of the product. By now they shoulda had enough beta testers to turn off any new destruction.
I meanâŚif firmware is done right, itd be like mikrotik or ubiquiti where i can pick what version i want to install at will.
Been meaning to do something local with all my cameras tbh. And i think i saw something in the pages about rtsp for the v3⌠got quite a bit of unused storage in my unraid server and a spare license slot for a drive i could install for nonredundant video .
Still have the 3 of 3 Authenticating issue post 1.0.60 formware version. Had this for weeks now.
So heres the weird part, but I use that term loosely anymore, in the Wyze app firmware area it shows that the video doorbell pro was updated on 7/25 to 1.0.68 but the regular video doorbell is still at 1.0.60. When can our device firmware update be expected?
Ive had my cam for only a year and already its fragmented by a âProâ version taking precedence with firmware updates when there is a known authenticating issue as the plethora of reports show as reported by the Wyze community.
My confidence is becoming lower and lower in Wyze products. Perhaps Iâll just paint mine green and tie a bow around it as a door decoration since thats about all its useful for currently.
The last update for the Wyze Video Doorbell issue was a bit over a week ago.
I guess working on firmware for some new trinket more important. Thanks for the update.
