Have the same issues here, IOS up to date, all cameras up to date, app up to date I’m running the same wifi box as before -no changes. Noticed about 3-4 weeks ago nothing works off WiFi. Nothing loads. So frustrating
Found a work around but not stable. When you are outside, before opening the cams, clear wyze app cache
I have the same problem on my android Galaxy S22 phone but it works fine on my wife’s iPhone. I think it might be related to the wyze app on android. Anyone else try this same test?
I have an S22 ultra. Works fine.
Having the same issue. Is there any resolution?
No. If I had an S22, it would work lol. I know it. Don’t need one to know it ![]()
If you can’t connect to the cam from outside… Wyze account will connect the app to the cam, that’s how it works . It also needs the home network to correctly connect the outside device to the cam. Also the mobile carrier or other wifi network can have blocks or other reasons for it to not work.
(More specifically, lets say you add a Wyze app to an unknown new device while out. It needs to connect to the cam without ever being on the home network, so the Wyze account provides that info at the very least to be able to connect to it. All the other pieces need to work though for it to actually happen and work which includes your home network, cellular data/wifi, device, etc etc.)
VPN, or even client device settings can potentially introduce a problem. A device not updated fully could also potentially have a problem if the current stuff has a bug (so make sure Android is fully updates and apps in both the app stores are all updated so that you can’t try anything further that way).
Unfortunately, its more complicated and involved in many aspects that go over the heads of most people so I don’t expect that you will get it solved. You really shouldn’t have the problem to begin with.
As an example, lets just say that someone who set up your home router thought of some changes and those changes cause an issue for the cam to connect from the outside (or maybe you have some weird router that does it by factory default). You wouldn’t know how to deal with that. Even step-by-step is too difficult for many people (and no one is going to do that because the variables are too unknown or not possible to know to do so).
If its on Wyze side under very specific situations then you wouldn’t solve it without some major change like different cellular company for instance if even you could do anything such as if it was location based.

Im having exact same issue, can only connect while on home network, cellular service or other wifi they dont work, now if when i open the app, if i restart each camera each time i open the app they will work regarless of network im using, but once i close app and re-enter i have to reset all cameras again, this all started afyer xfinity sent me a new gateway/modem which is a hb7, everything worked fine with my old gateway
You can try setting the firewall setting to “Typical Security” for your Xfinity Gateway and see if it helps your problem.
Some users experienced issue with smart event not properly recognizing person events. It seems to be a common issue for users with Comcast ISP.
I use Xfinity and have no issues with the Person/Pet Vehicle/Package detection on my iOS devices. I have my own modem/router, I’ll never use one provided (at cost) by an ISP.
any luck @WyzeTeam with this one (B-44285)? No new update on this issue yet since February???
This seems to be a reoccurring issue for users using XFinity Gateway.
If you using XFinity XB7 or XB8 Gateway then you can try tweak some settings. Go to 10.0.0.1 on your browser and under Firewall > IP4 > select “Minimum Security (Low)” first and test if that works. If that still doesn’t work then select “Custom Security” and disable the firewall completely. Test again to see if it works and if it does then you will need to start looking into getting your own router as it isn’t recommended to run without router firewall.
Thank you! This gave me some insight. As long as the gateway is set to minimum security I can access my cam network via cellular connection. Will look into setting my own router up.
TOTAL SPECULATION
This makes me question if someone with cam plus service (I don’t) has/had the same issue with stronger security settings. Is Cam Plus the remedy Wyze is potentially pushing?
I think this is an ISP hardware issue. It is likely a firmware update was pushed on to the XFinity Gateway so it started blocking Wyze connection.
@just.cliff reported that the XFinity XB7 Gateway firewall was also causing events to no longer be recognized as smart events (person) even though he has Cam Plus and everything was just “Motion”.
I tried your suggestion with my xfinity hb7 gateway, mine was already set on minimum security so i completely disabled my firewall having no security, and at first it appeared to work, but i closed out the wyze app and reopened and i was right back to same situation, cant see my cameras when im off my home network, im gonna get my own router/modem and see what happens then,
Did the XB7 Gateway restart when you disable the firewall? If not, you can try restarting your XFinity XB7 Gateway after disabling the firewall and then test it again.
Light reading thru this thread…Wyze Support folks really??? No one stepping in here to chime in??? Disabling all security protocols on your gateway is ludicrous! So let’s let everybody in at this point right? BS, how about providing ports that are required for the app to access the base cameras while you’re not on your network? Have a four month old ticket and all I get is stupid silly answers and quick closes on my tickets! How about some real answers and solutions? LET’S GO!!! You’re on the clock!!!
Same issue since a couple of months now
