Still cannot connect to my cameras when not on my home WIFI

I still can’t view my two OG Cams from my work wifi. But I can view my V3 and Cam Pan V3 ok.

Gets stuck on Step 2 of 3. Authenticating with the cam. Then after a couple of attempts it errors out with error code 20005.

I could see that a VPN could be a cause, but I always use a VPN and encounter no issues.

Part of it depends on what VPN you are using. I know Wyze has blocked some of them (or else that particular VPN server has blocked certain things that interfere with it). Even with my VPN it depends on which server I connect to. On some servers, most Wyze stuff stops working entirely (including notifications) and lots of things are blocked. But on other servers everything works fine, including all the notifications. So it’s not even just which VPN company, but also which VPN server you run through sometimes.

Now, separately, while Jason said Wyze is aware and working on this issue, it may be something on the Wyze end that will help here, so some people will probably need some patience while it is resolved. But generally, if the cameras won’t connect when someone is not on the home WiFi, it typically means that one or both networks have a bandwidth or latency problem or both. Often it means the home WiFi has terrible upload bandwidth, so the cameras connect fine at home because they are using the Router locally, but when you’re away from home, now it goes through the internet bandwidth and there isn’t sufficient upload bandwidth. Often this happens to people using something like Hughesnet satellite internet, or old school 1.5mbps DSL or sometimes with Cable internet where they still use Daisy-chaining with the entire neighborhood sharing the same bandwidth and causing you not to have a steady reliable stream.

I’m not saying that’s what’s happening in this case since Jason says Wyze found a cause for it in this case, but other people and people in the future who read this thread about not being able to connect to the cameras outside of their WiFi should be aware that USUALLY, it means there is an issue with your internet connection.

Wow, these are the same issues and feelings I am having! Exact problem for about 3 weeks. I can view the web feed from work but not from the app, either on cell data or work wi-fi. No VPN’s to deal with, same problem after getting a new phone also, rebooted everything several times… Glad to hear they are working on a fix , hoping it doesn’t take too long!

Unhappy Customer!

I never resolved this issue. It wasn’t useful for me to have a camera that I couldn’t access remotely, so I don’t use Wyze anymore.

I believe my internet is plenty fast enough to stream these devices and this is the slowest upload speed I have seen. It’s evening in my neighborhood an the internet must be busy

I only get 11 mbps upstream on the Xfinity Fast Plan I am on, and it seems to work for me.
Your download speed is about what mine is too (supposed to be 400).

You’re not running a VPN per se, but you are running through a proxy server that basically does the same thing and it may be an issue. Check to see if your iCloud private relay is enabled and if it is, try toggling it off. From your iPhone or iPad: Settings > your name at top > iCloud > Private Relay > toggle feature Off

I am having the same issue. Carrier is MintMobile (T-Mobile network). 4 of 5 bars cellular and will not connect to any of the cameras (3-v3 pan, 10-v3 stationary cams, 3-switches, 2-v2 pan). I was able to access all devices via cellular network roughly 3 weeks ago.

That’s about when ours went out. Still cannot access my cameras. Wyze says they are working on it per a comment on this page but I have yet to see a change

Like you I have spent hundreds on these products and I’m pissed. They are useless.

I understand being pissed, however things like this happen when changes are made to soft/firmware. So as long as they are actually working on it and fix it in a reasonable time, I am good.
What I am pissed with is their trouble with security and stopping their breaches.

I only had remote access to the camera a couple times when I first purchased it. Never worked after that. That was at least six months ago.
I use another camera now - works great, no problems

I’m running 12 wyze cam 3’s that worked fine on my iPhone 11 until a few weeks ago. Suddenly I couldn’t view the cams unless i was on my home wifi. Tried everything and they would come up as offline or spinning on the 1/3 page if i was on just cellular.

I know you don’t actually connect directly to the cameras at your location but go through the wyze server and the server didn’t like my system all of a sudden.

I have a modem from my internet provider and use a linksys router for all my wifi in my house,

Now the wyze app seems to be really touchy if you don’t also turn off wifi from your cable modem (bridging mode) if using an external router for wifi.

I am guessing the clashing wifi’s (modem and router) cause a bit of chaos. Ever since i turned off the modem wifi I have been able to connect to all the cameras without wifi.

Maybe this might help someone.

If the modem has wifi then it should be a combo modem/router and you have a separate other router in router mode then you have 2 routers improperly configured and used and have a broken network. The router functions allow things on your network to be routed and would be fighting each other if you have two.

If your Linksys router was in AP mode then the modem/router would still be getting used anyway as a router and you have some other network issue. If you have the modem router functions disabled then the linksys would work as a router indeed.

The wifi itself, won’t clash. You can have 100 wifi APs past and including the modem and it wouldn’t be an issue when things are configured properly and the networking devices are working properly. The cam will connect to the strongest one or the only one with the ssid it has.

Networking is hard and not for 90% of people. That will go above the heads of most people. So, it won’t really help them. This is not a cam issue but people who need to have others work on their network for them.

Not necessarily. Your assumption is too broad.

Yep this same thing is happening to me. I can have great cellular service and it wont connect. Its super frustrating. I called into Wyze and one of the guy said “it’s impossible to see live streams over your cellular network, my advice is to get a pocket wifi or to just go to places that have wifi”. It enraged me. I told him I had literally had these cameras since the first ones came out, and have NEVER had an issue with them connecting on my cellular network until recently. When I am home they work great, but that completely defeats the purpose of cameras when you can’t actually see them unless your home.

Same issue here. Which defeats the entire purpose of the cameras if you can’t view them when you are away!

@coliecola
Do you have a ticket number from your interaction with support so I can have that person coached. You should (normally) be able to view your streams on a cellular network. We are working on the issue right now that is causing this.

Nope he didn’t give me any numbers or anything. He was very unhelpful. He told me that has never been a thing and to just always go somewhere that’s connected to WIFI and that is the best option. I told him I had never had a problem before and he said that it’s just not possible.

Nope. I tried
