New batteries need a full discharge + recharge cycle before the charge percentage is accurate. When it hits 100% you still need to wait some number of hours, so probably just leave it overnight and check the next day how it works. Also, clean the contacts on the vacuum and base with isopropyl alcohol.
The batteries from ali could be junk, it’s possible to test them, but you would need a suitable load/tester.
I’ve done this over a couple days, leaving them overnight to charge and same thing. The vacuums do run correctly until they die. Based off other’s experiences, seems like I just got weak/bad batteries. Ugh, off to amazon I go to hopefully get better batteries.
Taking the wrapper-off and seeing what batteries are inside may give some insight. It might be worth trying to get a refund if the Amazon battery works great.
AliExpress has been great when I have an issue with their products. They want video proof for some reason. If you follow their instructions you will receive a refund. Since it is a Lithium battery they most likely won’t want it back. Some of the items I had issues with required returning them on AliExpress’s dime.
I have a spare battery that I should test out. Too late to return it.
I’ve been reading the thread. My vacuum was shutting off when in the middle of a cleaning. Then I bought the battery from AliExpress and having the same problem. Does the Amazon battery actually work, or are people still having problems?
The Amazon battery just has that reverse polarity (I think, not confirmed) issue. So a multimeter should let you check that, compare pin-out with the original battery.
Here is the pin-out & voltages for the original battery…
Red is positive 16.28v (4.07v/cell) in reference to the black and white wire. The voltage will vary, the max is 16.8v, the minimum about 12v.
Black is assumed to be negative/common wire.
White is assumed to be a signal wire that is “pulled-low”.
Since Black+White is 0v, I can measure the resistance, it was 9 kΩ.
Does not help that they lie about battery capacity. Are they combining the capacity of all the batteries in SERIES to come up with that? If so, 2800mAh is only really 700mAh.
Which “Color” did you choose?
Anyone know off-hand what the runtime is with the original brand new battery with medium suction? (so I can come up with an approximate power usage)
How long until we just say that Wyze products are junk and their customer service is abhorrent? This is crazy that so many people are finding out the battery gives out after two years, and Wyze has zero support to help with a replacement. Instead we’re forced to spend hours seeking out third party batteries made from China at the risk of breaking the device altogether. This is nuts, I’m sad I bought this. I had believed in Wyze once, no more.
Has anyone wishlisted “official wyze” battery replacements?
I just bought one for $99 and so far, think it’s pretty good for the price. But would be a shame to hassle with a dead battery. Only makes sense to sell replacements for its customers.
I picked up the Cityork battery and it’s doing great so far. Still have an issue with the vac bumping itself off the charger just enough to disconnect it.
I just bought this battery from Amazon… It is a tight fit in the battery compartment, and has to be done without the original case. Otherwise, it works perfect and is plug n play.
