A lot more fun than my kids or my dog ever had in a kiddie pool.
@Antonius your
gang would like to have a word with you. THIS is what your raccoons want for Christmas for next year’s use.
When does their term end? Maybe he should consider a group graduation gift. ![]()

I got mine for free from Nextdoor. If that helps. I think they’re 15 or $16 from Amazon. But of course I don’t know where any of you are. Sorry if that’s not an appropriate response? I’m still learning the ropes here.
Yesterday was the first time I saw a Mom with her little gangsters this year, no spring time crop this year. The Frisky Five from last year was my favorite bunch and they enjoyed playing in the larger water container I had for them.
That’s so cool. I wish I had thought about it earlier. I love that we’re doing this. And that we’re documenting it. Pretty amazing. Strangers from all over sharing videos of amazing animals all brought together by this piece of technology. And obviously, we’re thinking along the same lines in other ways. Like raccoon pools. I like that very much.
I can send some your way if you’re lonely. Here’s about 1/3 of my crop of little goobers. Just put the marshmallow sign up so they can more easily find your place. ![]()
Yeah I have to go back to marshmallows, If I put any other “Snacks” out at Weeds & Water the freeloading neighbor cats steal it all.
I haven’t downloaded the footage yet. But I hung up a Kong, the dog toy, from my pergola. And I only put marshmallows in that. And it’s very fun to watch them figure out how to get it out. They are so smart. And marshmallows are their week point. But if you have extra raccoons (or marshmallows) please send them all!
We have a problem with overly aggressive foxes here, so we train the coons to knock on the door, trigger the cams and stand in the windows to get our attention. Then we handfeed them. Keep them fed and happy and they don’t destroy property or leave poop. Other than fleas and ticks, they’re adorable and love being pet and cuddles.
We feed them marshmallows, generic dog kibble and sometimes our leftover table scraps. Nursing moms show up during the day for food to avoid confrontation with alpha males.
That’s impressive! I live in the DC Metro area. So it’s pretty Urban here. And the foxes and the raccoons just get along. Even when they’re here at the same time, they politely ignore each other. Though I wouldn’t characterize the red foxes in the area as aggressive at all. Terrified most of the time I think. Great picture.
I’m in the same area, probably about 30 miles to the South down by Quantico. Kind of rural/suburban with well-spaced apart houses. I cleared the woods out back to create a field so the foxes, bears, large predator cats and deviant humans have a difficult time sneaking up on the house. ![]()
All the foxes
and skunks
hang out in the Capitol Building downtown. ![]()
Do you have bear videos??? The sneaky people I can do without though.
. This is lovely.
No, I cleared the property over 20 years ago. I still see some black bears occasionally, but they’re way down past the field plodding along through the creek. They don’t like being in the open.
Yeah… I had a a bunch of migrants set up a tent camp in the back of my property about 3 months after purchasing this property. I scared the bejesus out of them for a few nights when they were sleeping, they moved on, left their trash and I cleared the whole wooded area. ![]()
It made the news here when there was a bear at Bishop O’Connell high School. It’s amazing what a difference 20 miles can make! I don’t have a yard like yours. Pretty much all of my yard is in my video. I have a 18 x 20 flat area, Which I built a pergola for. And then I have A. Non-usable very small vertical backyard that is not really usable. So I’ve planted trees in it to hold the soil from going down into my neighbor’s yard. And the foxes and the raccoons hang out here. But I haven’t seen a bear here… I haven’t seen a bear here since long before they started cutting down all the trees.
A bear in Arlington! Wow! That must have scared some city folk.
I’m a night owl, blasting music at 3am, have antennas and electronic gizmos all over the place, shoot crabapples off the trees, light bonfires… I don’t think I’d be welcome around Arlington. ![]()
Why are you not training them to ring a Wyze Video Doorbell? What is wrong with you?! ![]()
Should we ask how? ![]()
![]()
Oh. Maybe that explains it. ![]()
I don’t do Wyze doorbells. Or thermostats and locks. I value reliability so I just go old school with that stuff. ![]()
No. ![]()
You’re smarter than the average bear. Much, much smarter! ![]()
