New App 3.0

You will get an email telling you to update!

Thanks. Nothing yet.

Interestingly enough, I got the email and when I went to the option to download the app the only option I got was to uninstall or open my existing version 2.50.9. I guess I still need to wait a bit longer.

There is more discussion about 3.0 on this thread.

I would avoid the 3.0 app update, it’s poorly laid out/unintuitive, features seems to have been moved to odd unpredictable places, and the worst part is, none of my Wyze devices power on after the 3.0 app update. I cannot even flash new firmware to the devices.

I don’t see any issues with the 3.0.5. app.

I just reset the samsug tablet ive been using as a display for my wyze 3.0 camera. It’s got Android 10 on it and wyze was working fine before i reset it. Imagine my surprise when i went to download it again and it says "not compatible with this device "

Welcome to the Forum, @suee7171!

What you’re describing seems similar to what some users have expressed in other topics:

When you say that you “reset” your tablet, did you perform a factory reset to get a fresh start with it? What version of the Wyze app were you using before?

If you haven’t looked into this already, you might be able to download and install the Wyze app from a site like APKMirror if Google Play Store is not allowing you to do so.

“Not compatible with this device” is becoming a growing issue.

I wonder if Wyze didn’t release the app as suitable for these authorized devices? Not sure who defines what a compatible device is.

Maybe @WyzeJasonJ or @WyzeMatt can touch base with the developers. This should be as easy fix, if you can find tthe right person.

That’s the  for me, too. :man_shrugging:

Not being a developer, I don’t know how device compatibility is managed on that side of Google Play Store.

I hope it’s better than they latest app update. Thos current update is full of connectivity issues and is SLOW

Agreed. I don’t know if it is written in the code or of it is just a check-off box on a submitted form.

I remain curious.

If you did a factory reset, are you sure it updated back to Android 10? If your tablet shipped from the factory and is running an OS before Android 9 might be why App 3.0 is not happy.

Yes i did a factory reset as it was bogged down with apps and it seemed like it was using the previous version of wyze because my samsung phone has the newer version. I had a laptop running blustacks and wyze and the tablet took up less space.
I downloaded apkmirror and then the wyze app and all it did was hang and crash at the wyze screen (on the Samsung tablet) so i removed it

Since APKMirror archives multiple versions of Android apps, I wonder if you’d have a better experience if you downloaded the last available v2.5x app instead of the latest v3.0 app available. You didn’t mention which version(s) of the Wyze app you retrieved from APKMirror, so I’m only speculating, but it may be worth trying to get back to something like you had before if the Wyze app was previously usable on this tablet.

I uninstalled it and reinstalled version 2.5 within minutes. I want static thumbnail images representing my cams, not a live stream or just the name. It’s awful

I may have tried to install 3 instead of 2.5. I’m going to try that because im pretty sure that’s what was on the tablet before I wiped it…I’ll let you know.

Ok so turns out i had to install version 2.50.2.442 for Android 7. I tried lower versions for android 10 and even though my tablet is android 10 they wouldn’t install so i took a chance and installed for 7.0+ and it worked right away and looks like what was on it

I’m glad you were able to get it working to your satisfaction. Thanks for taking the time to report back!
