We have Wyze app 3.0 coming this month, get to know it before it launches!
We have some new features!
I am looking forward to trying the new featuresâŚ
Is this going to replace the app we have now? I noticed it just came out and had a link to download it. But will it override the app or put a totally new one on the phone?
It will replace your 2.50.x app. What model of phone/tablet and OS version are you running?
Samsung A14 5G, Android 14.
You can sideload the 2.50.9.x app to your A14 from a mirror site if you really donât like 3.0. Like all new user interfaces, thereâs a learning curve involved. I think it will grow on you.
Do you like it? I just figured if they made improvements it would be better.
Initially, no. But thatâs because Iâve been using the old appâs UI for 5 years and constant usage over years results in 2nd-nature interaction (workflow). A new UI is always seen as an interruption to workflow, which is a big negative to users. Initial setup of 3.0 with no instructions was âdifferentâ, a chore, but I love a challenge. It took only a day or two before I realized much of the 3.0 changes were wishlist items that weâve been asking for and Iâve quickly grown to love the new UI. Itâs flexible and you âbuildâ your own home page (Favorites tab). Youâll have to learn what to tap, where to tap, what to long-press and drag, new icons⌠basically reorganize your workflow. The UI is new and has a few quirks, but the new advantages outweigh the quirks and Iâm sure Wyze will sort the quirks out quickly.
FYI⌠Wyze created a page on the Support site to help users get started. Some of the notes concerning limited-ability have already been addressed in latest/public 3.0 release:
Ok thanks. I donât use all the features, so it might not take me as long.
Ok folks whatâs the consensus on the new app?
I donât think new 3.0 users have had enough time to judge positively as theyâre trying to figure out how to adjust from old workflow to new. So youâre probably going to hear mostly negativity. Post a positive/negative/neutral poll and see where it goes. Sentiment will change once users realize they can still do the same as old with creation of Favorites tab and some initial, painful reordering of devices/groups to their preferences. You really should give users the option of instant live stream or thumbnail for single devices in top-level Favorites. I donât have an issue because all of my cams are in groups, but itâs a real burden/showstopper for a large portion of users.
Speaking only for myself⌠itâs a great start, headed in the right direction, lots of potential.
IOWâŚ
Someone said somewhere that if you had two devices both with 3.0 installed and you made changes on one device (to Favorites, Devices layouts, etc) that those changes would be forced onto the installation on the other device. Is that true?
Oh, also. Will setting up 3.0 layout as above on one device have any effect on the layout on another device still running 2.5?
The negstive part about the livestreaming is what i just read. I have several groups, but the rest are not and those ones at times I did wish were also livestreaming. But I did appreciate having just the thumbnails of those because they sometimes had an event shot in them.
Are you talking about if both devices were using the same account?
Yeah.
Yes. Just like having multiple devices under 2.x. App content/organization is at the account level.
Yes, same as above.
I prefer changes on one apply to others. But it would be nice for users to have the option of applying globally or device-level.
That would inhibit me from test driving 3.0 on one device if I canât isolate changes made there from my 2.5 âdaily driverâ stable boy.
